Phil Spencer confirms that some new future Bethesda titles will be Xbox and PC exclusive

Or a good one.
Sure. It's always going to depend on their intention. But there's better ways of saying "only on Xbox", "still on PlayStation" and "we haven't decided yet".

Some keeps the conversation going at the expense of turning people away from the ecosystem short term and causing further upset later on.

Unless they just hope people get used to the idea of Microsoft owning Bethesda and don't kick off so much later on. Wimpy and unlikely, but I've seen worse ideas make it to publication.

Already in your first reply to me showed you were a warrior. I had the benefit of the doubt, but now it's clear as fay.

I ain't defending Xbox, I ain't even on Xbox. Have been a long time ago, I'm a PC user.

The "either you are with me on team blue or against me on team Green" is so fucking lol. Why is it not possible to have an opinion like a sane person anymore.
Whatever you are, you failed.

GDK started to be shipped in June 2020 (it even included reference to the “most keep secret” Lockhart in the release notes)... Sony final DevKits stated to be shipped around the same time.

Tom Warrior is trying to find a excuse for the low performance in games saying the GDK was late shipped when it was not.

Now one part of his claim is true all SDKs have issues that keep being fixed and fine tuned thought the generation... is GDK having more issues tha than the PS5 SDK? It is a possibility but I guess nobody will tell you.

Both PS5 and Series S|X started production around the same time... that means both were all finalized hardware that counters the wait for RDNA2.

I've read the beer in Brazil is so cold, it makes your brain freeze. You should try that, could be a fresh start. 🍻

Alpha De didn’t have the actual PS5 hardware.
These were Zen CPUs with 13TFs Vega GPU if I’m not wrong.

MS had these too.

Final DevKits with actual APU was released in June 2020.

So where is the evidence that the dev kits hit the same time? I showed you an article where they said ps5 dev kits hit earlier but you dont believe it. So where is proof they both hit the same time

You posted a pic from a early prototype DevKit that doesn’t even had the PS5 hardware yet.

Curious about DevKits... it was posted today:

So, still no definitive answer regarding exclusivity for Zenimax titles. "...including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive..." - is quite vague. Good news for Game pass fans, though, since "...Bethesda understands the potential of Xbox Game Pass."
only vague if you want it to be.
we already knew that some future bethesda titles will already go to sony platform because there are contracts already signed about those.
chances that anything else they do will appear outside of the combo pc/xbox is pretty much none

Do you have any sources for that? I find it unlikely that they were forced. Pressured with higher licensing costs, etc., would not surprise me. But I find it tough to believe MLB told Sony there would be no baseball games this year unless Sony went multiplatform. Rather, with zero competition I think Sony more likely wanted those micro-transactions from a platform without a baseball game already.
While nothing concrete has been released. (At least to my knowledge) Apparently when Sony and MLB were renegotiating the licensing deal, MLB wanted the game to be available on all platforms, vs just Playstation. Apparently MLB wanted the exposure of being on many platforms vs just one. Whether Sony got the license at a reduced price, or if MLB paid Sony development costs isn't known.

In all likelihood you're both correct. Sony had no intention of releasing MLB The Show on other consoles, but they were by no means forced to do so either. They could've simply given up the license instead. Seeing the fading interest in producing baseball licensed games over the past few years, likely had MLB with little leverage.

I'll see you in late 2022. If TES 6 is exclusive I'll buy an xbox. (never owned one)

That's exactly the reason it makes sense for Xbox to keep the Bethesda games and especially the system sellers exclusive.

PS5 owners that don't own an Xbox or the high-end gaming rigs they all claim to have, will either have to forego the Bethesda games or buy an Xbox or a Windows 10 gaming rig.

“Dev kits are typically PCs or specialised hardware running a specific set of specs that platform holders believe mirror the specs of their upcoming consoles.”

Domt you read before posting... Xbox has these “DevKits” too.

They are not final.

What I want is irrelevant as is what you want. I'm going by the words in the quotes I put in my comment.

Are you going to come up with your sources because I’d like to read it. Microsoft and Nintendo could have made an mlb game anytime they wanted.
That's true. The previous Licensing deals stated that platform holders could develop games for their respected platform. MLB's problem was that none of them bothered to do so. After EA and Take Two stopped bothering to make them, that left Sony as the only option left, and due to the previously mentioned deal. They could only release their game on their consoles.

This left MLB in a tight spot. The only ones using their license was one of the platform holders, which left people who might play their game left out if they didn't own a Playstation. Seeing as nobody was lining up to sign licensing deals, they caved, and persuaded Sony to do it for them. Likely either by heavily discounted license fee, or by paying Sony directly to produce it.

As I said, is pretty obvious that they had sealed contracts before the adquisition so some of the next games will appear on Playstation.

Hemmm..not for gamers ... that's why stadia is falling down..

That's a bit of a reach. I'm sure a near nonexistent catalog of games combined with excessive pricing on what is there is helping to slow growth, not just the basic limitations of streaming in general.

By "some" he means all that are not under other contracts.
Pretty much. I genuinely think all the games Bethesda have announced up until this point are coming to playstation. Any new announced games from here on out is down to Microsoft to choose.

Thanks for this post.

Literally 90% of everything you post here can be replied to with this just as easily.

Your speculation on Gamepass and PSPlus, Bethesda, etc...
Back it up? Where was I wrong?
Man, I have never see so many people upset at having paid $1 for 3 years of gamepass. Did you think it was a secret? Do you know what speculation means? The mlb deal is explained in black and white. Everything you referenced can’t be because Microsoft isn’t upfront with their numbers.
you’re one of the thousand that said “you don’t spend 7.5 billion to keep games multiplat” and now you’re a bit worried.

I don't think PS fans truly realize the repercussions of this event yet because everyone is used to the old Xbox promise of "just wait." But honestly by the end of this year and in 2022 when there is a steady cadence of must have games coming out of Xbox Studios I expect rivers of tears to be flowing.

Sony has some ability to counter this with some big ticket announcements (MGS, Silent Hill, whatever else) but honestly MS hasn't even thrown the first punch yet... gonna be fucking nuts when they do.

This is good post. Thanks for agreeing with everything I said. You’re still not completely accurate but getting better. ;)

That isn't what that means at all. Just your assumption. I'd be careful about the "Told you" statements right now. In fact don't be surprised if Starfield comes to PS5 especially if they were already far in development of it.
We've already seen a precedent with this by the way Disney handled Disney+. They didn't yank all of their properties off of competing platforms right away. They honored existing contracts, but no one expected The Mandalorian or Wandavision to show up on Netflix due to "muh existing fanbase." That's stupid as shit. Disney is interested in building a platform. If their existing fanbase want to watch those shows, they subscribe to Disney+.

It won't be any different here. MS is trying to build a business with GamePass. If there isn't an existing contract or a special case like ESO, it's Xbox exclusive. Sometimes you just need to use common sense.

Games are going to come out at the same frequency they always did, if actually not a bit slower due to Covid and generational transitions.

Changing ownership doesn't result in more games coming out!

It's a PR statement, effectively, but I'm personally of the opinion that anything which isn't Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo, Fallout '76 or Elder Scrolls Online will either be fully Xbox/PC/GamePass exclusive or arrive there first, with case-by-case selection of choice games to go to Sony and Nintendo platforms within time frames ranging from 6 months (smaller games, games with modest performance in MS ecosystem) to 2-3 years (larger games with a decent amount of continuous DLC expansion content or games that perform very strongly in MS ecosystem to point of driving hardware sales growth and/or GamePass subscription growth by notable volumes).

Seems like the best approach to take at this time. Hoeg Law has a video on it; very good take from both sides of the fence, I think it's worth a watch:

I’m still waiting his reply why Series X’s GPU has old parts from GCN to RDNA.

He keep PR all parts are RDNA2 when we already know it is not.

Dude. What matters is can the chip handle every piece of code that the desktop parts can, apparently the answer to that is yes. Thus all of RDNA2 is supported. If they wanted/needed to leave some old blocks/instruction sets in there, it is not really an issue.

The important thing you state there is the "final" Sony DevKits, Sony had a lot of interim units. Their dev kits were a lot more mature, several devs have said as much. Devil May Cry wasn't even going to have RT on Xbox at first due to delayed access to dev units. This information can be found everywhere.

Microsoft said:
some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players.
A very broad statement so timed exclusives are definitely possible.

Eurogamer said:
Microsoft confirms "some" Bethesda games will be full Xbox and PC exclusive...There's no qualifier of timed exclusivity here

Where did that "full" adverd and suggestion that it's not a timed exclusivity come from? They did the same exact thing in 2014 with Tomb Raider Rise exclusivity downright saying that it was not a timed exclusivity after some vague statement from their friend developer at Crystal Dynamics.

Crystal Dynamics said:
We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past...This doesn't mean that we're walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC
Eurogamer said:
This is not a timed exclusive, but a genuine one

Are some of you still doubting that Eurogamer are actually Microsoft shills?

It kind of gives me chills that the developers of many of all-time my favorite games are now part of the company that makes my all-time favorite console.

Yeah it’s really as big as it gets. I’ve at least bought Skyrim 4 times, on 4 different platforms, it’s on my top 10 list for the best games of all time, it’s my most played game of all time. Microsoft really can’t get a more important developer under their Xbox umbrella than Bethesda for me. They would have to buy Nintendo to top this.

Hope these games being msoft exclusive means the PC versions are getting more love out of the gate. What are the the chances they get nvidia raytracing/dlss support when the xbox is rdna 1.5 or whatever?

If MS says that some games will be exclusive to Xbox and PC, some games will be exclusive to Xbox and PC. Jesus, are you still waiting for Halo on PS?

Timed exclusivity will likely apply to the games that do reach PS, LOL. Xbox will probably get everything first at minimum.

Fallout 3 and Halo: Reach are tied as my all-time #1 favorite games, But I love all the Elder Scrolls games and would say they are in my top 10 along with Prey (Arkane).

I own every Bethesda Softworks game except FO76, Wolf/Youngbloods and Rage 2. There is NOTHING Xbox could have bought that would be anywhere near as big as this for me personally. :messenger_beaming:

With PS exclusives coming to PC and Xbox continuing their support for the PC, some of you guys really need to consider going PC from here on out. It truly is the platform for which one can play a multitude of games from both MS and Sony.
My buddy played Outriders with me via cross play this past weekend. His PC crashed 4 times during our 1 hr play session. Some people just don't want to deal with that BS.
