I love chiptune but it can be easy to get tired of the same relentless NES inspired square wave stuff. I get that's where the most nostalgia is, but systems like the SNES and Genesis have amazing experimental soundchips that are home to some of the best video game music around. I honestly think more 16 bit music is where it's at for me. Like, check this shit out





one site i especially love is Battle of the Bits, which is basically a giant center for all things chiptune. It's not just the same NES stuff, they've got Amiga, SNES, Genesis, Yamaha synths, everything that's produced on a chip will feel at home over there. Not to mention that they've got this really 2000s style internet culture over there.
