Huh?Both Sony and Microsoft have yet to convince people to buy next gen consoles.
Nintendo doesn't though.
Where do people, such as yourself there, come up with this stuff? Both Sony and Microsoft have yet to convince people to buy next gen consoles.
Nintendo doesn't though.
Its videogames, not religion.I honestly dont get this type of thinking. The studios are there now, we know it, the games are coming. Whether they blow us away with 5 big games, or 20 big games, it doesnt matter as the studios are there making games. Its not like in prior years where we know of 5 or 6 first party studios making games, and have they signed up some 3rd party studios to make some games for them etc, the studios are there this time, and the games will eventually come.
Also why is the 'concern' coming from users that dont have, and probably never will have, an Xbox?.
I feel like this could have been said every year for the last decade and still be true, they need to show the receipts. They now have plenty of studios. It is only a matter of time before the goods get shown.
Yeah their conferences are just long commercials now, no gameplay walkthroughs at all it's all just 2 minute quick cut trailers that are mostly cinematics or in engine/CGI trailers and then they go and brag about how many games were shown in a two hour period. They need to learn how to do these things again, by the time we are finished watching it we can't remember 80% of what was shown because nothing gets a chance to stand out.I’ve been waiting for MS to blow me away since, like, E3 2008 or so?
they always seem to disappoint. I just keep my expectations low.
one of these days they should have an impressive showing given all the studios they have now, but seemingly many projects are still a ways off.
i think Microsoft needs to have something impressive by mid-gen, I don’t think this e3 in particular is too critical
best they can hope for is to gain momentum by mid to late gen, at which point you would hope that they start entering the conversation again as a legitimate competitor with Sony and Nintendo as far as first party goes
My apologies to you then (and anyone else who think like you.) But honestly you are the first Xbox fan that i see on this forum who dares to be critical of Spencer so far. Everyone else just keeps sniffing his farts and say they smell like roses.I’m a Xbox fan, I don’t eat it’s up. In fact I’m not a fan of Spencer so far, a minority perhaps but not everyone thinks the sun shines from his arse.

switch as fuck allWow, I'm convinced.
No games released so far justify the purchase of any of those consoles.
It's a gaming system. It needs games. Only Switch has them.
I rest my case.
I already do treat MS like Nintendo: a secondary console only for exclusives.I already said what they need to do in the other thread. Release gameplay trailers for all games they showed off as CG last year and do Halo and Starfield rereveals.
But tbh, every year is the same. Every year I think MS will blow us away and every year they end up underwhelming. This isnt on Microsoft tbh. I dont think their studios are good enough. Hellblade 2 shouldve been shown in gameplay form last year after revealing it as an inengine trailer but i dont know wtf Ninja Theory did in the 8 months after revealing HB2. Almost a year has passed since and we still havent seen anything. We SHOULD see it at the conference, but we shouldve seen it last year as well.
Same goes for pretty much all of their studios. Sony had a pretty underwhelming conference last year but they showed up with at least three next gen games with gameplay. The other two, Demon Souls and Miles, were released the same year. What was revealed last year at that conference that has since been released or even showed off in gameplay form.
I am optimistic but after getting burned year after year for like 10 straight years now I am not sure If I trust MS to deliver. I am hopeful because I hate waiting for Sony to deliver 2-3 games a year, and would like MS to fill in the gaps, but I will say this, if MS does not show up with at least 4-5 mind blowing gameplay demos then I am gonna start treating them like Nintendo. As irrelevant as Publisher can be to fans of AAA games.
Agree about a reboot. You shouldve just stopped there. Gears is a dead IP in a serious need of a reboot. I was going to create a thread about how GoW and Gears of War were released barely a year apart way back in 2005 and 2006, and yet here we are with GoW the most anticipated game of E3 by a long shot and Gears not even in the picture. Gears 5 came out a year after GoW and comparing the advancements of the franchises is not even fair.
I liked Gears 5 at first. It felt more action packed than 4, looked better and gameplay didnt feel dated. But then after three chapters, I had had enough. The female protagonist didnt do anything for me. The open world was used to just add travel between story missions. Guns felt boring. 90% of the time it felt like I was playing a 2006 game. Janky, tanky and boring.
I think they should kill the franchise but if they want to stick with it because Phil paid $100 million for that IP then do what SSM did with GoW. A complete revision. Change the perspective to first person. If you want to make it an open world hub world then make a hub world like GoW. Dont just have me drive around from point A to point B. If you want me to feel invested in characters then make them likeable.

Where/when did he say this?

Watch the video, but around 26 min he thinks there will be disappointment. And basically he says to 'wait.' Maybe E3 2022?
My apologies to you then (and anyone else who think like you.) But honestly you are the first Xbox fan that i see on this forum who dares to be critical of Spencer so far. Everyone else just keeps sniffing his farts and say they smell like roses.
I think Gears isn't on its best moment, but I think they will shake it up with the next game. You shouldve just stopped there. Gears is a dead IP in a serious need of a reboot. Well, Deathloop will probably be really good. Ghostwire Tokyo looked kinda off. Psychonauts 2 looks like a decent little indie. Haven't seen enough of their other games to make a judgement yet.MS are fucking killing it. Phil has turned the ship around and its only going one way while he is steering it.
MS are fucking killing it. Phil has turned the ship around and its only going one way while he is steering it. The games will come, and their approach is more consumer friendly than any of the competition at the moment. I dont care what they have for E3, Covid has paused a lot of projects. For me as a company, they have come on leaps and bounds. And for all you console war cocks who will think this is fanboyism, as I write this I'm playing the excellent 60fps patch on TLOU2.
Both Sony and Microsoft have yet to convince people to buy next gen consoles.

Dude i hate being the one to tell you this but... Switch has been out since 2017, 5 years now! It's not new, you been missing a lot of great games.Wow, I'm convinced.
No games released so far justify the purchase of any of those consoles.

But...like...they're already doing this. Just like games day one on Game Pass.Just wanna see the back compat program picked up again.
This time with an emphasis on res boosts and fps boosts.
But I know I'm in the minority, the person people are referring to when they say "who wants to play old games anyways."
ya it me.
Until a couple of years ago they had hardly any studios. It was wishful thinking before. Now there’s no doubt that they will have games coming every year.I feel like this could have been said every year for the last decade and still be true, they need to show the receipts.
