Don't really care about the show but the end results will have to be better. Anthem and Cyberpunk turned out to be disasters in different ways. A Happy Few was interesting but the actual game was not very good. I hope this time they can wow people outside of their core.

They need great announcements and gameplay for upcoming games. I think they will do alright this E3. They have that hellblade game and halo to promote this e3 plus probably forza. Plus they have those smaller studios they bought last gen pushing out trailers most likely this E3. What needs to be remembered is that third party games will also be pushed on this e3 conference. So sports games, call of duty or battlefields, gamepass promotions, assassin creed, and some other big AAA third party game I've forgotten. So that should take up at least 30 minutes of the show with just third party games.

Honestly what I find really depressing is that Xbox fans seem to be excited but rather nervously awaiting E3. They're at a point right now, which seems to have happened right after Schreier said Starfield isn't coming this year, where they can barely muster up an argument on Microsoft's behalf for their output. I'm not even remotely being a troll on this. Like, I legit feel empathy for the Xbox crowd right now. They're pretty much crossing their fingers.

Some of this hit this "put up or shut up" viewpoint years ago, when we were already many many years deep into this M.O. I would love to see more fresh and original games from MS, but they have to stop talking and do it.

Both Sony and Microsoft have yet to convince people to buy next gen consoles.

Nintendo doesn't though.
Where do people, such as yourself there, come up with this stuff?

The PS5 is the fastest selling new console to ever exist in the history of humanity. It still has high scalper prices and is incredibly tough to buy because of a competitive buyer's market. It has released incredible games already like Demon's Souls, Returnal, SpiderMan: MM, and then of course the upgraded PS4 games like Ghost, TLoU2, Days gone etc etc. and it's about to get maybe the best looking game to ever release in terms of overall presentation in only around 2 weeks.

It's one of the best console launch experiences I've had in decades of doing this stuff, and I'm by no means a Sony fanboy. The PlayStation has never been my favorite system of any generation, except maybe the 4 since there just wasn't much strong competition.

This whole "Yeah well the Xbox and Playstation BOTH aren't good right now" narrative I see from certain corners is a straight up lie. The PS5 has been incredible so far.

Microsoft needs to....

- Have great footage for Halo and a release date set in stone.

-Show off Forza (either one if not both) along with a release date this year

-We need to see (at least 2 and release date near future) Avowed, Elders Scrolls, Fallout, Fable, Doom, Perfect Dark, Hell blade, State of Decay 3, Everwild (show us that you figured out what it is at least🤣)

- Show more of gunk, 12 minutes psychonauts and the other games they showed last year with release dates this year.

-Xbox needs a few good surprises. Only one needs to be epic. The rest just need to be good and unexpected. Recore 2, killer instinct, new Ori, D4 Reboot(🤷🏾‍♂️), or Jade Empire free with the announcement of a reboot/remake.

- Hopefully the will announce and show new IPs.... Would be great if one was to be released in the near future.

-Most importantly tho... Most of what they show needs to release this year or by March. So many games are announced and are forgotten because they don't release until years later (if at all)

-would be epic if the release a great game or demo along with there E3 presentation. Like halo multiplayer demo or something 🤷🏾‍♂️

I honestly dont get this type of thinking. The studios are there now, we know it, the games are coming. Whether they blow us away with 5 big games, or 20 big games, it doesnt matter as the studios are there making games. Its not like in prior years where we know of 5 or 6 first party studios making games, and have they signed up some 3rd party studios to make some games for them etc, the studios are there this time, and the games will eventually come.
Also why is the 'concern' coming from users that dont have, and probably never will have, an Xbox?.

I'm always pretty satisfied with Xbox E3 showings. Just not sure how this year will go since it's uncharted territory with an online E3 and possibly still some Covid weirdness.

Pretty sure Halo Infinite will get hate no matter how it looks. I'm actually really excited to see Forza Horizon this time so everything else will be bonus.

Holding out hope for the aftershow/next day announcement of more OG/360 games added to BC like they used to do.

I’ve been waiting for MS to blow me away since, like, E3 2008 or so?

they always seem to disappoint. I just keep my expectations low.

one of these days they should have an impressive showing given all the studios they have now, but seemingly many projects are still a ways off.

i think Microsoft needs to have something impressive by mid-gen, I don’t think this e3 in particular is too critical

best they can hope for is to gain momentum by mid to late gen, at which point you would hope that they start entering the conversation again as a legitimate competitor with Sony and Nintendo as far as first party goes
Yeah their conferences are just long commercials now, no gameplay walkthroughs at all it's all just 2 minute quick cut trailers that are mostly cinematics or in engine/CGI trailers and then they go and brag about how many games were shown in a two hour period. They need to learn how to do these things again, by the time we are finished watching it we can't remember 80% of what was shown because nothing gets a chance to stand out.

I’m a Xbox fan, I don’t eat it’s up. In fact I’m not a fan of Spencer so far, a minority perhaps but not everyone thinks the sun shines from his arse.
My apologies to you then (and anyone else who think like you.) But honestly you are the first Xbox fan that i see on this forum who dares to be critical of Spencer so far. Everyone else just keeps sniffing his farts and say they smell like roses.

Oh boy, I hate Nintendo zealots more than any Sony or MS fanboi.

They clearly have the high ground yet they won’t exercise restraint.

Phil hypes them way too much as well, his messaging is part of the problem

Anyone rise remember his ridiculous comment of “feeling good” after seeing Sony’s conference? Seemed really petty and insecure, leading to vastly inflated expectations

unless you know you have something truly amazing, just shut up. Sony generally just lets the games do the talking

Their console has been half a year in the market, it's time to see gameplay of a next gen only AAA MS exclusive.

Show me Halo looking great and a proper gameplay demo (or gameplay trailer) captured on Series X of 2 or 3 AAA next gen games and announce at least a release window date for them.

I chose Halo, Starfield and my third was Game Pass.

I was going to choose a big new IP, but chose Game Pass because if they are going to do a big time announcement, E3 is the time instead of a random Xbox Wire kind of post.

Something big like EA day one games or UBI joins GP.

I already said what they need to do in the other thread. Release gameplay trailers for all games they showed off as CG last year and do Halo and Starfield rereveals.

But tbh, every year is the same. Every year I think MS will blow us away and every year they end up underwhelming. This isnt on Microsoft tbh. I dont think their studios are good enough. Hellblade 2 shouldve been shown in gameplay form last year after revealing it as an inengine trailer but i dont know wtf Ninja Theory did in the 8 months after revealing HB2. Almost a year has passed since and we still havent seen anything. We SHOULD see it at the conference, but we shouldve seen it last year as well.

Same goes for pretty much all of their studios. Sony had a pretty underwhelming conference last year but they showed up with at least three next gen games with gameplay. The other two, Demon Souls and Miles, were released the same year. What was revealed last year at that conference that has since been released or even showed off in gameplay form.

I am optimistic but after getting burned year after year for like 10 straight years now I am not sure If I trust MS to deliver. I am hopeful because I hate waiting for Sony to deliver 2-3 games a year, and would like MS to fill in the gaps, but I will say this, if MS does not show up with at least 4-5 mind blowing gameplay demos then I am gonna start treating them like Nintendo. As irrelevant as Publisher can be to fans of AAA games.
I already do treat MS like Nintendo: a secondary console only for exclusives.
You shouldve just stopped there. Gears is a dead IP in a serious need of a reboot. I was going to create a thread about how GoW and Gears of War were released barely a year apart way back in 2005 and 2006, and yet here we are with GoW the most anticipated game of E3 by a long shot and Gears not even in the picture. Gears 5 came out a year after GoW and comparing the advancements of the franchises is not even fair.

I liked Gears 5 at first. It felt more action packed than 4, looked better and gameplay didnt feel dated. But then after three chapters, I had had enough. The female protagonist didnt do anything for me. The open world was used to just add travel between story missions. Guns felt boring. 90% of the time it felt like I was playing a 2006 game. Janky, tanky and boring.

I think they should kill the franchise but if they want to stick with it because Phil paid $100 million for that IP then do what SSM did with GoW. A complete revision. Change the perspective to first person. If you want to make it an open world hub world then make a hub world like GoW. Dont just have me drive around from point A to point B. If you want me to feel invested in characters then make them likeable.
Agree about a reboot.

I remember the concern about God of War and that turned out to be nothing. Sometimes a complete reboot is needed. Like an athlete joining a new teams and just playing better than before, for whatever reason.

Funny thing tho, God if War is a reboot, but it still has the classic God of War combat. They just changed the camera angle and everyone lost their minds.

Nintendo doesn't... Have a next gen console.

Pretty much every Xbox (Series X, don't talk to me about the S) and PS5 that is being produced is being sold immediately. Every person buying those consoles is looking forward to what is to come while Nintendo fans are stuck in 2014 enjoying ipad graphics.

Case closed.

MS are fucking killing it. Phil has turned the ship around and its only going one way while he is steering it. The games will come, and their approach is more consumer friendly than any of the competition at the moment. I dont care what they have for E3, Covid has paused a lot of projects. For me as a company, they have come on leaps and bounds. And for all you console war cocks who will think this is fanboyism, as I write this I'm playing the excellent 60fps patch on TLOU2.

Watch the video, but around 26 min he thinks there will be disappointment. And basically he says to 'wait.' Maybe E3 2022?

I took that as more him saying Sony is scary with how tight things are locked down.

The Sony ninjas must be real, lol.

Yeah, when he said some games wasnt gonna be at E3 for MS a few weeks ago I started tempering the hell out of my expectations.

I don’t get the idolisation for him tbh . I’ve been gaming since the 80s , seen many come and go. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying abuse the guy or any petty shit like that, it’s just I’ve seen execs get criticism for less.

Gamers (paying customers) shouldn’t have to keep questioning Microsoft about games or UI features or anything like that, they should be progressive all round. Despite RROD the Peter Moore 360 era felt more like the Xbox I like, they led with console UI features , online and most importantly had momentum with games and announcements.

It says a lot a big part of pre launch marketing for Series X was back compatibility and DLC for Gears 5.

I think Gears isn't on its best moment, but I think they will shake it up with the next game.

I'm pretty sure the next Halo, Forza, Gears, Fallout and Elder Scrolls plus some shooter more like Doom or Quake will become GaaS with several seasons across many years of stuff like story expansions, new PvP arenas, new characters, weapons and customizaiton items that will need to be purchased outside Game Pass in order to milk each game as much as possible and to use it for the amount of time they previously had a couple of games. I think we'll only see 1 game of these IPs this generation.

It may not be what people wants, but I think it's the best fit if they want to focus on Gamepass and to put all their games there day one. This and to combine it with smaller games like the Double Fine, Battletoads, Killer Instinct, etc.

Well, Deathloop will probably be really good. Ghostwire Tokyo looked kinda off. Psychonauts 2 looks like a decent little indie. Haven't seen enough of their other games to make a judgement yet.

Does MS need to show gameplay of a new, secret and unannounced 1st party game? No, but it would be huge if they did.

Halo Infinite needs to look good and more importantly look fun. I was in the minority and didn't think the graphics shown in last year's campaign demo were cause for epic meltdowns and end of the world for 343 predictions. But 343 still needs to show that Infinite will be an excellent game. There is a tidal wave of negative opinions from halo fans and Xbox haters alike.

Finally, showing a game that can demonstrate next gen graphics would go a long wave to pacify fans and doubters. Personally I think the concern over next gen graphics is unfounded. We know the Series X is plenty capable and it's only a matter of time before we see the games. Cue the, "Xbox has no games reeeeee!"

Microsoft had a lot of time to create something. If you´re expecting a lot of in-engine gameplay trailers during a curated, pre recorded digital event aka video ...

96% trailers, 3% talk and 1% halo and a teaser for an 2022, 2023 game. Don´t think any event next month will deliver at all. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Last´s year summer show was hot garbage. 6 months to show all the new trailers.

If I were going to prioritize it would be new AAA games with blow your socks off graphics (true holy shit level next gen), 3rd party exclusives based on big established IP (silent hills, metal gear, castlevania, something like that to really ruffle feathers), and enough RELEASE DATES of big games to give us a road map into the middle of 22'.

Don'ts- No prerendered CGI crap. No games that are 3-4 years out with no release dates or gameplay. And for the love of god don't overly focus on Halo and Forza, because as much as we all love those games it's time for something new and exciting. Oh and can we get some serious meaty single player games from them. I'd like to see as little multiplayer GAAS crap as possible.

Only thing Im expecting is Halo Infinite Gameplay which they ABSOLUTELY NEED because of the Craig fiasco, including multiplayer.

A massive emphasis on GamePass.

After The E3 Show:

Some Xbox Fans: "OMG!!! Look at all the potential Xbox games we will eventually get! Just you wait till E3 2022!!!"

This time with an emphasis on res boosts and fps boosts.
But I know I'm in the minority, the person people are referring to when they say "who wants to play old games anyways."

Dude i hate being the one to tell you this but... Switch has been out since 2017, 5 years now! It's not new, you been missing a lot of great games.
Sorry mate and wish you get better soon on your condition.

How can it be a turning point, when the only big thing coming this year is halo? So they’ll show a bunch of games years out.. won’t be any different from any other e3.

Freeman76 Freeman76 honestly that Phil has turned the ship around meme cracks me up everytime.

But...like...they're already doing this. Just like games day one on Game Pass.

Its time to move past all that and start looking towards the future. New games.

Someone said both MS and Sony havent given anyone a reason to buy either console. (yeah I know they are tripping by comparing it to the Switch but still)

To be honest...MS isnt giving anyone a reason. Because BC and Game Pass was a thing last gen. You can still get that on the One S and better BC on the One X.

Now its even better BC on Series consoles.

Sure it will! They’ve been saying the same shit for the past decade.
“Wait until next E3!”
*Year passes*
“No, really- wait until the next E3!”
*Another year passes*
same shit over and over again.

Release dates and gameplay footage are all i give a shit about from any of the companies, and thats how I've always been.

I'll be watching with the same attitude. Microsoft gotta put up, and Sony i want my god of war 😫 lol

BS aside i think collectively gamers are in for a treat if all goes well.

Just leave Ubisoft off your main shows and you already 30% of the way there for me MS, Sony, Nintendo 😎
