-no faults? Are you serious? Kamala fucks up her life on a level that if Peter Parker weren't alive I'd assume he had been reincarnated into her. She loses quite a few battles, Christ her first attempt at stopping a crime results in her getting shot and being in serious condition. She's frequently late for important family events due to superhero-ing which causes her family to get increasingly frustrated with her. She starts getting so overwhelmed by trying to balance school, family, and superhero-ing that Tony has to talk to her and tell her she has to put her personal life as her first priority. She gets too worked up in a fight and leaves a criminal with severe injuries to a far higher degree than the situation called for. I forget the details, but there was one arc where due to misunderstandings Zoe doesn't trust Ms. Marvel. She trusts Carol when Carols starts using that program or whatever it was to "determine" if someone is going to commit a crime; she later realizes her mistake but only after ruining Josh's life (though fuck Bruno for trying to blame what happened to him on Kamala. Josh was being released the next day, so you wounding yourself by trying to free him was stupidity on your part and Kamala is not to blame for that).
Kamala not only has faults, she's probably one of the most flawed characters I've seen in a long while in Marvel/DC. Which is good, a young teen would naturally stumble quite a few times when first taking up superhero-ing.
-how is her power set "garbage"? It's perfectly serviceable for the sort of villains she fights. I think stretching/enlarging/shrinking makes for cool visuals for comic fights.
-yeah, a token character who was the lead of what many consider one of, if not the, best Spidey film, and is now getting the main focus of a PS5 launch title. Mindless Miles bashing is so 2015. Hell, I recently watched Linkara's review of the recent Champions book which has Miles and Kamala on the team and it sounded good, they took the whole "Spider-man makes a deal with Mephisto" idea from One More Day but actually made it make sense in the narrative without being insanely out-of-character as opposed to OMD which is arguably the worst thing to ever happen to Spidey, possibly Marvel as a whole, ever. Not to mention the whole deal from Mephisto comes from the fact that Kamala had been killed in battle and Mephisto can reverse it, oh shit, Kamala died in a fight? Just another flaw to add to the above list.
As for sales, it had been stated multiples times that her book sells quite high digitally, sometimes even reaching #1. Her primary demographic probably skews younger which is more likely to buy digital over physical so it makes sense.
