I wanna know what kind of Xbox exclusivity stuff is shown. Early access PC and Xbox only? Does Microsoft have the balls?

If they had just remade the original MW2 and MW3 with all the dlc maps included, it would have been leagues better than these new MW games.

This is where I'm at, I was reading that this was originally intended to be DLC, then they were like nah, full game.

Makes me not feel too confident at all. The series has always been a guilty pleasure of mine, especially the multiplayer. But man, the fatigue is real, and has been for several games now. :(
Was wondering the other day, while going through my Steam owned CoD's, that it might be time for a full on Black Ops reboot/re-imagining by Treyarch? Sort of give it the same treatment as Modern Warfare 2019.

I think there's plenty to be done still by going back and could also serve as a return to a 'simpler' time.

I genuinely do not understand why people still care about COD...

It's so... I don't even know...

I'm glad for the fans at least.
Great contribution.

Good news then, considering how bad the original Modern Warfare 3 campaign was, we can only go up from there.
I actually loved the 3rd one as well, even though it was very inferior to COD4 and MW2. It's certainly a better campaign than alot of the garbage we get nowadays.

I'm selling my orion-nuke-skin account. DMZ has been the only interesting gamemode in CoD for the past 15 years - and it's free. Hope they'll release a standalone version without battle royale.

As someone who has never played CoD, didn't they release Modern Warfare 3 like....20 years ago? Is this a remake? A remaster? A glitch in the Matrix?

Lol, Sledgehammer Games. WW2 and Vanguard where terrible, be intresting to see if they manage to fuck this up aswell and if it doesn't meet sales expectations, cause Vanguard sure as shit didn't.
And Advanced Warfare wasn't all that great either. Sledgehammer already had three attempts at making a worthwhile Call of Duty, a fourth one isn't going to change their reputation.

Eh, don’t think I’ll jump in. MW2 was the first game i really dived into, and the microtransaction prices are so egregious I’m kind of turned off to the game now.

Id feel better about this if they didn't first announce that there wasnt gonna be a new COD this year but a DLC to MW2.....Then all of a sudden we will get a brand new COD. I donno how much time the team had for all this.

They didn't announce that is was just going to be DLC. It was just leaks and "reporting", mainly from Jason Schreier. Like 2 months prior to MW2 even releasing, Activision financial reporting basically said there was going to be another new premium title. So I guess blame clickbait leaking for that expectation.

Eh, the whole internet was reporting on no new COD for 2023. The DLC talk started only months later.

"It's reported that Activision won't be launching a Call of Duty game in 2023, making it the first time since 2005 we would go a year without a new game."

"Previous reports have stated that Activision was not planning to release a full Call of Duty in 2023, opting to put out a big expansion to 2022’s Modern Warfare II instead. However, a new report has stated that Activision has shifted course and is turning that expansion into its own release."

"According to recent leaks, Call of Duty might not release an installment in 2023, and if that's true, then it'll break a 17-year-long streak."

This is just a few quick clicks. So to put myself in the teams shoes who are getting ready for a smaller project 1 year before release and then make the shift to full blown campaign, most probably remaking the actual MW3....sounds like a rush job.

I actually started playing the campaign recently. Just finished yesterday the mission where you have to attack the convoy or whatever jumping from vehicle to vehicle for what seemed a long fucking time. The mission design was legit retarded. Now I'm crafting all this shit sneaking around. They seemed to have fucked it up.

These parts are beyond retarded.

The car jumping part was "inspired" from the Uncharted 4 car chase but with shitty controlls and the crafting part was pure garbage. I guess this was the best innovation they could bring to the table.

I'm done with COD. It's not like they put some effort in 6VS6 anymore.

It's all about Warzone now. Which I don't give a fuck.

Right, those were just amplifying the leaks and rumors.

"A previous report indicated that there wouldn’t be a Call of Duty game released in 2023 after development delays persisted. It seems these rumors may not come to fruition as an Activision report suggests there will be a premium Call of Duty title released in 2023. "

Modern Warfare 2 came out at the very end of October.

Regardless though, whether or not it was supposed to be a DLC, these games (especially in the same trilogy) are just minor upgrades anyway. I saw the supposed "DLC" was to contain a story expansion as well as more modes and features. I mean, that's basically what new CoDs are nowadays. So whether or not you were expecting a DLC or a new game, it almost just semantics. They obviously have more of a financial incentive to make a game called "Modern Warfare 3" as opposed to a MW2 DLC expansion.

I feel like this will be mostly a "cosmetic" upgrade to MW2 with some improvements around movement.

Warzone finally got an acceptable state with Season 5.. new map incoming with MW3 I

I really like Call Of Duty. As in, I unashamedly enjoy the shooting, the speed, the massive number of players and the subsequent variation in game types. I don't have the seething CoD hatred that a lot of people seem to have, and I buy it every year - sometimes on console AND PC, just because I like it.

But.

Right now, every time I load MW2, it's like I have to hit various buttons fifty times to get the game to stop trying to sell garbage to me. It's like being at a flea market with twenty guys screaming at me to buy their imported rugs. Hit circle to get rid of the battle pass screen. Hit circle to get through the battle pass inside the battle pass screen. THIS WEEK'S AWESOME SKIN: IT'S NICKI MINAJ. New gun skins available! Hit cross to BUY! Here's what you've JUST UNLOCKED with your battlepass, do you want us to unlock it for you automatically? You DO? Press circle to buy CoD points!

Etc.

It just really sours the experience for me. I get it, you gotta make dat paper. But, Activision is being so fucking aggressive with their microtransaction push that sometimes CoD feels less like a game and more like a casino.

But, I'm a loser with no self-control, so... I'll buy this. Again. Maybe on PC and PS5. Because I'm a dumbass.

I love the actual gunplay in MW2 I hope sledgehammer doesn't fuck with it too much and make it feel weightless like Vanguard. Also can we please get a map filter at least? I hate having to back out of game after game because a awful map comes up I hate

SHG.. That kinda makes me sad.. Didn't we just have Vanguard? What happened to Treyarch, they made one of my favorite coop mode of all time with Zombies/Outbreak, wish it was them.

Personally thought WW2 and Vanguard SP was shite. Didn't finish either of them and I like a romp through CoD campaigns usually.

Also, MW 19 campaign was amazing. Best one since MW2 (original).
CoD WW2 has some really sick levels though with some insane animation.

D-Day looks insane and flows very well.

The second mission in the hedgerows is cool too.

Assaulting the church tower and the escape sequence.

Paris in the rain was decent though one of my favorites.

The Hurtgen Forest, Hill 400 and Battle of the Bulge are all literally unbelievable and just feel like an old CoD game that's just trying to put you in the boots of a soldier. Some points look borderline real in those missions.

The rest of the campaign sucks after that unfortunately and I hate the train mission in the beginning.

Would it kill them to make a COD based in Vietnam? Too soon?
Well Sledgehammer games has tried to make this game twice now. First it was going to be third person and Activision made them pull the plug on the project and forced them to make WW2. Then they tried again and Activision promoted Treyarch to the lead dev on the project so they could turn it into Black Ops: Cold War.

If you look at the assets in the Vietnam mission from the beginning of that game, they are WAY too detailed to be made for a one off mission. I actually took a bunch of pics of it as evidence. All of the assets seem repurposed.

Here's a twitter link if you want to see the pics.

Totally agree. It was boring and dumb. Also, the dialogues were too much cringe for me.

It's mindboggling how many times they can milk the mw name , I don't understand out of all these studios why doesn't some studio go towards rainbow six siege route . Or something new , Make a new refreshing cod.
