LOL, apparently the GG guys were shitting their pants backstage when the dude playing missed three shots while hanging on the rope, if he missed one more time the demo would've crashed because they didn't have a death scripted in yet.
Agreed, they should aim for 60 FPS. Maybe the RAM upgrade will allow itShame about the frame rate, 30fps sucks for shooters.
Is this real time? the game play footage didin't look nearly as good as this...
Some of the comments surrounding the live Killzone demo on GAF just absolutely stun me. Particularly from this thread. For example:
^ That one is a gem lol.
Seriously, though - I don't understand this mentality.
I was kinda hoping that this gen all those flickering lines caused by jaggies would be gone..
They make the visuals less immersive. Maybe they can add a bit of AA. It's esoecially visible when flying over the city.

Yeah, I would expect it, game still has 7-8 months until release. Looks pretty clean over all though.

It does look like a boring shooter though. Take away the new graphics and it's the games we have now.
Hide behind cover, shoot static targets, run around a little, scripted helicopter sequence where you don't do anything expect line up a shot.
Maybe that's enough? I don't know. To me (and others) it looked pretty boring underneath it all.
Killzone is enough. And i like shooters.
can be possible. Ill try to translate as good as possible
It sounds like 60 FPS games will be possible, however it is not clear if they are able to achieve this at 1080p now. Might always happen in the future when developers have more experience with the console
My real only negative of this game reveal was the animations were not up to the usual Killzone standards. I'll put that down to being alpha. But they need to be refined, especially when he was riding that ship. Too stiff.
Like Yahtzee said, if you built an amazing scene just for the player to gawp at instead of interact with it's pointless. All the next-gen looking stuff was the scripted flying sequences. The actual gameplay that took place in the bombed out building was your boring "iron sights-pew-pew-pew-reload" and looked like a top-end PS3 shooter.
Helghan is destroyed, they won't be going back there any time soon. But a Helghast-like city has been created on Vetka, just look over the wall. While allready really impressed with the graphics and the world they've created, i also REALLY hope they will return to Helgan for some real gritty, dark, colourless environments.
Why are so many people automatically placing this as a corridor shooter? Obviously it's not open world, but in KZ2 and KZ3 there were several large open areas that had multiple ways of approaching the situation. It's like a bunch of mini-sandboxes. That's how the 2 and 3 were so I'm assuming no different here.I like the setting a lot, seems like a wasted opportunity to make it a corridor shooter. Seems like it would be perfect to have a Cold War esque future setting in a open world city.

Uhm..
The screenshots of this game on the Killzone website are in 4k resolution:

yeah the animations were the most distracting part imo.Dat Gamersyde images. Looks a lot better than the GT stream ^^.
I'm okay with Colourzone if it's not on Helghan, but I want some really colourless, dark, oppressive levels in this game. Character design is super weird, CrysisZone, really?
What I am MOST bummed out about is that from what I could see in the stream the Helghast again aren't flopping around as much as in KZ2, let alone the KZ2 trailers where they were spasming in another direction after each bullet. Those animations should be in and physically correct on PS4. I want them to D:

You know... jsut tacking on some great AA isnt something easy brother...
because you optimized it from alpha to beta...doesnt mean the the heavy fixed costs of MSAA suddenly disappear. It is a trade off
In regards to your first point, the dark and oppressive levels are still going to be in this game. Watch the trailer or demo and look over the wall at the very end where the Helghasts are taking refuge, no doubt we will go over there for a large portion of the game.Dat Gamersyde images. Looks a lot better than the GT stream ^^.

Well I'm assuming its a corridor shooter because the demo pretty much ran directly down a corridor followed by multiple scripted sequences. Not exactly my idea of an open, dynamic sequenceHelghan is destroyed, they won't be going back there any time soon. But a Helghast-like city has been created on Vetka, just look over the wall.

Now of course there are going to be some one-way moments in any game, and what we were shown was definitely one of them. I believe they showed off that segment because it sets the stage for the story while also providing less opportunities for the guy playing it live to screw up and crash the game. And despite these efforts he still almost did!
Best realtime graphics I have ever seen.
By the way, I'm still sort of against adding a Helghast perspective to the single player, but the image they have on their website definitely gives the impression they are going to add the long asked for fan request.
What else are you expecting? It's a shooter.
Everyone should watch the direct feed trailer in 1080p, it looks much better than the stream footage.

too bad the trailer is short
I think it could work if you have a defector, or they both go somewhat rogue. Full on playing as the Helghast would be a very bad idea, as the board room stuff showed us.
