Insomniac's Wolverine Won't Release Until 2025, Report Claims

Marvel’s Wolverine game from Insomniac won’t release until 2025. At least, that’s what a new report claims.

According to known leaker Daniel Richtman (need to subscribe), not only will the upcoming game not be released in 2024, but it will also feature a “darker” and “more violent” tone than past games from the studio.

As far as location goes, it’s set to be set in Madripoor, a Southeast-Asian city within the Marvel universe. The city has been long known as a “haven for pirates” after being built upon the back of a dragon.

Anyone with half a brain could have deduced that Wolverine is not coming out within the next 12 months. When was the last time Sony announced the release date for a game less than an year before it's supposed to hit store shelves?

Insomniac is an insanely talented studio that has seemingly quick development schedules. Let them cook!

Hopefully Insomniac use Wolverine Origins as a template when it comes to gore

Why not? The Wolverine trailer came out on September 9 2021 that was two years ago.

I think most are just excited that a competent developer is making the game. It won't destroy Insomniac if its released in 2025. Heck even Sony should be fine in 2024 without it.

Same with Spiderman 2, the reveal trailer showed 2023 in big bold lettering.

The Wolverine reveal trailer on the other hand has no provisional release year at the end, which means 2024 was always just a fever dream.

Good. Insomniac needs to be given more time to put these games. Spider-Man 2 felt way too unpolished at times and was clearly not ready for a 2023 release but Sony had no other first party games so insomniac had to step up.

Now it looks like they will have no big first party games two years in a row but that doesn’t mean insomniac should pay for other studios not pulling their weight or Herman’s fuck ups. Let Sony release ff7, rise of ronin and other third party games like helldivers and Herman can man up and take the blame for not delivering first psrty games.

Insomniac has earned the right to take their time to make their games. They have been Sony’s best studio this gen but they need more time than just 2 year dev cycles. Spider-Man 2 is a great fucking game that was just a few months polish from being a phenomenal one. Let’s hope wolverine is afforded that extra time.

Pretty much what I expected. Tbh I don’t really care if they launch it in 2026 as long as they go all in. I want to go into a bar, shred people in half and leave both the place and Wolverine painted red afterwards.

Which two years in a row? Where are you getting this from?

I love the idea that they don't have multiple teams working on multiple projects, so every game is dependent on every other game to determine release timeline... What a silly concept.

Um what? SM2 is very polished

I maybe had 1 or 2 hugs my whole playthrough. What would a few months have done? I’ll gladly take those rare bugs over not playing the game at all

If true that basically means in 2024 Sony would have no single player first party games released for the PS5. Also just one single player game over a period of two years (2023/2024).
