Deadline: Disney Eyeing Chris Pratt For Indiana Jones Revival

EXCLUSIVE: Here’s one from the helluva good idea department. Marvel offerings are soaring and Star Wars is being reinvigorated by director JJ Abrams. Now, Disney has just started to turn its attention to reviving the Indiana Jones franchise after buying the rights from Paramount in 2013. I’m cautioned that while things are very early, I hear the studio has set its sights on Chris Pratt as the swashbuckling archaeologist they hope to build the new franchise around, the role made famous by Harrison Ford in Raiders Of The Lost Ark. Pratt jumped to leading man movie status with his performance in last year’s blockbuster Guardians Of The Galaxy for Marvel and Disney. He starts The Magnificent Seven with Denzel Washington and director Antoine Fuqua in April for MGM and Sony, and there’s the inevitable Guardians Of The Galaxy sequel. Disney won’t comment and all this is admittedly early, so let’s chalk it up as a dishy informed rumor for now and keep an eye on it.

Typecast complete.

However, this is a great casting call, it is a bit weird that he's also the Jurrassic Park lead. Surprised JJ Abrams isn't rewriting Star Wars to star Pratt as Obi Wan Skywalker.

stop it. fucking stop it.

chris pratt has no charisma. and, independent of my own dislike for him, it can't be good for his career to tie himself to two shitty Spielberg remakes destined to be far worse than the original

Indiana Jones can be goofy. That's part of his charm, really. He's kinda silly, and he gets his ass kicked and it looks like it hurts. It makes his adventuring a little more interesting.

Pratt as Jones I can see. Disney/Paramount essentially just recasting Indiana Jones and having a series of unconnected adventures, I can see. That all makes perfect sense.

A Lucas-less Star Wars I could easily see, and have no problems with. Never did.

A Spielberg-less Indiana Jones is kinda weird to imagine, though. Like - Raiders is still maybe the most perfect action film ever made. Only Spielberg could have made that film the way it was made.

For me, whoever it is that steps into the hat and the jacket isn't as daunting as whoever it is that gets to sit in the chair behind the camera. THAT'S the pressure seat.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.
That's impossible cause Pratt has had a hit movie

He is the opposite. People love the Pratt.

Pratt has a personality

Talking about how speculation is that he is the lead in everything for the next 2 years. I get that Pratt is the better actor here.

At least Pratt has a relatable backstory (waited tables in Hawaii striving for his break). Kitsch started in modeling.

Ok.....
