Star Lord is essentially a completely different character from the comics. The only thing they share is the name. They've already said that his father will be different from the comics. I highly doubt it will be Adam Warlock though.

Oh God I hope that's true. His parentage in the comics is one of the biggest letdowns IMO.

"I literally got a phone call two days ago about this," Russell explained. "I've never seen 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' so I don't know anything about it. Many times I've heard, 'That's a really fun movie, a really good movie [with] great characters.' I don't know it!"
