look upWell IMO, I always knew it was an inside joke of some sort. It's clearly written that way. My problem with it (without ever playing the game, I admit!) is that it's just bad writing IMO. Because it really does make the characters look even more redneck than just wearing jean jackets and riding on a motorcycle through a zombie apocalpyse while wearing a backwards baseball cap. I mean come on. I seriously have no interest in the game because of the way the characters are presented. And if it's not bad writing, then it's just reinforcing the stereotype of certain kinds of people being "trashy." I mean that kind of joke at the wedding alter ... wtf.

Futuristic can use even created new terms.
Present should be like today.
Past should be how it was in the past.
That is what make good writing… the writers that can create the same dialogue that a real person can have in the same/period/location/situation is a good writer.

I completed the game. The story isn't amazing but those two characters really aren't depicted as trailer trash at all. I honestly have no clue what they fuck you are going on about. But it's quite tragic.

Yep. That's what I've read as well so its no fault of Sony if they didn't even get the pitch for a sequel.
I'm not sad either. The game was ok. The story was ok. There could have been more they could've done with the open world but....meh

reflect the dregs of society. Entertainment is all encompassing. Requiem for a Dream and Menace II Society wouldn't exist with your attitude.

It wasn't until I build a gaming PC that I tried playing it. The game really opens up after the 1st quarter and I played it all the way through to the end. Something which I seldom do nowadays because my playing time is limited.
It's a good game.

Lol what, Lara is fkn amazing compared to the days gone dude everyone keeps forgetting the name right after finishing the game.
Writing could have been better for sure, but Days Gone was actually a really good game. I enjoyed the heck out of it. With few polishes here and there, the sequel could have been great. The first Uncharted game wasn't perfect either, and look at the sequel. I wish Jeff all the best in his new role.

Not sure what's happening here, is a man having lots of sex with his wife an embarrassing thing? I've played the game and 100% done everything possible there and I find it natural. Actually the overall acting and writing feels extremely organic and natural and never seen a game like that. Every movement in a conversation, silence, facial expression usually had more depth than most games and felt "believable" instead of exaggerated acting in most/all games.

A man having lots of sex with his wife is not an embarrassing thing.
A woman talking about having lots of sex with her husband, and comparing it to motorcycle riding, at a wedding alter is an embarrassing thing, i.e. it’s really bad writing. And if it’s meant to be serious, then those would be embarrassing characters.
It’s just Jerry Springer type stuff, which is why it gets called out repeatedly on boards.
Not talking about the technical aspects or the execution. The game may also be a blast. But regardless of context, that dialogue is just bad any way you slice it. It’s really not that big a deal though. I mean I thought Metroid Other M was an ok game, but every time Samus started talking I was looking over my shoulder to make sure the room was empty. The last thing I wanted to hear was “just what the hell are you playing?”

What’s funny is I don’t even care about this. I was just explaining why people seem to make fun of it to a poster that was mad that … it gets made fun of. It doesn’t matter that it’s an “inside joke.” Like I said it just comes across as bad, so people laugh at it. That’s it. The fact that people are laughing at it on a decent scale is proof enough of how it’s perceived. I really don’t have an interest in the game and never will, so like I said none of this matters to me. I honestly don’t have anything else to add so I’m good on this one.

Then she recites a line that, when first proposed, she said was an absolute no go as she hated all that biker shit. She was messing with him.
As for the story. I thought it was kind of decent for an open world game. The info about his wife being drip feeded throughout the NERO missions was pretty good and kept me playing on. I got less involved with the first Horizon as the story kind of completely stalled until very late into the game. Days Gone's quest lines were mostly okay.
