Battlefield will be a "meaningful part" of EA's future, despite Battlefield 2042 disappointments

I mean, BF2042 is great and really fun. Just should've been that way at launch from the start.
I don't think it's either of these. It's playable and sensical now. But in terms of gameplay BFV blows this game out of the water with the complexity of systems going on at once. And that game was an absolute travesty.

They’ve improved the game a lot. But like with Battlefront 2 (where they completely overhauled the game and removed the lootboxes) too many people look at how the game was at launch and not how it currently exists.
Glad to hear they improved the game. I hope those who bought it are having fun with it. With that said, that's how people should look at the game. That's what you decided to put out on the market. Sometimes, first impressions are everything. I do know that nowadays you gotta wait 6 months to a year to really get the final product of a released game. Insane times we live in, lmao.

I am confident that they won't, and I don't have a track record of lying about the product I'm directly responsible for selling.

Counterpoint: I would argue it's hard to understate the amount of good will lost by BF2042 because it's not a thing. People will buy+play the next BF based purely on how that game looks. Nary a soul will say "The new BF looks fun but I won't buy it because BF2042 was bad."
Oh, I'm not denying the possibility that people will buy the next BF if it looks like it's actually competent and avoids the mistakes made with 2042. Hell, maybe expectations are low enough that the next game will at least have people curious.

My thing is, there's also people that are rightly going to skeptical with what is eventually going to be shown (and not told), possibly all the way to release. That's just the rep that EA and now BF has.

Oh god why i dont like the sound of this. After the recent BF releases i have 0 faith in this franchise. This was my favorite fps franchise since i was a kid, but i cant see this going back to the glory days ever. The gaming landscape is different, the devs are different etc
My sentiments exactly.

Good for them. I'm done with online shooters.
Maybe on PC, but the console version is pathetic. It has the most sluggish, imprecise controls I've ever experienced in a shooter, EVER. It feels like you're trying to aim underwater, in a pool full of molasses.
Hard disagree.

BFV still feels the best, but 2042 feels fine for me and I jump between various FPS titles all the time.

i like that they went to 256 players, added proximity chat, have a lot more maps and that it runs so buttery smooth. Good job!

That's not a hot take. That's truth fact. They are all out of chances at this point.

ok but, folks said this shit about BFV and now say this about 2042, they'll just say this about BF7 tbh

You have people all over that are like "BF3 was the last good one, noooo BF1, nooooooo BFV was really NOT that bad" etc

The series fluctuates, ironically its best sales in history where with the last generation with titles like BF1, so I think you'll continue to see people buy the BF series as anyone leaving will just be replaced by another generation of gamers. I no longer play COD, but shit I'm sure MILLIONS no longer play the IP, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that 30 million or so likely stopped playing after COD4 or MW2 or something, only to fucking be replaced by another 30 million that are now COD faithful's.

So if they are able to continue to be successful is more so based on what they make in the future, I rarely see really any evidence that any shit about the past actually move units of MP titles. So you can have a title flop and then have another break records. We literally fucking went from BF Hardline moving some of the worst first week sales in BF History to BF1 breaking all sorts of records. I don't know how to explain this any better, most in general base this judgement on a game by game basis. This means you can have someone dislike 1 BF game and yet like another BF game. You can speak for yourself, but I'm more then positive the vast majority of gamers barely knows who makes their games, don't follow shit on NeoGaf or Reddit and merely make their purchase based on what they are currently seeing about the game...

not 13 years ago crying over Bad Company, literally one of the worst selling BF titles at launch in the companies entire history, yet shit you got BFBC2, BF3, BF4, BF1, BFV, ohhhh but 2042 is really where things will end? lol

nahhhhh doubt. Strong doubt on that one.

I did not read your message but I skimmed a few keywords and it seems like you are apologizing for battlefields poor record. Why are you doing that?

The post is merely telling you why this idea of thinking one BF is bad, is irrelevant to the majority as most buy games based on a game by game basis.

You are asking a fucking question based on what "it seems like" instead of reading. Not sure how anyone can have any rational discussion if reading is challenge lol

Added to ignore.
Yea but am I wrong, why are you apologizing for them?

Not my threads, but it seems I'm not the only one who feels this way. Something is broken:

Never said you were the only one. Doesn't mean anything to me as I have zero issues aiming in the game.

I really don't care how many Reddit threads you can find on the topic. Just like I wouldn't care about how many "Elden Ring needs an easy mode" posts you can find.

Battlefield 2042 is actually very good right now. They should add more maps, but its very nice.
Surprisingly true. It took me a while to warm up to BF4 before it became one of the best entries in the franchise. 2042 was on a good track lately and I have been playing quite a bit since it was free, but now there is a massive server connection issue that seems to affect a large amount of players, and has not been fixed in a about a month. Not good!

The series is dead no matter how much resources ea puts into it.

The one thing this series has always had over COD is giant maps with huge battles and vehicles. Going by what I read they even fucked that up with sketchy gameplay, bugs and it seemed 128 team battles werent liked by the community.

The one thing this series always has in their back pocket as a risk is their inane strategy to always rush a game out before COD. And when they are blessed with a shitty COD Vanguard in 2021, they still had to rush the game out just after Vanguard to make sure there's enough time for Xmas sales.

No doubt about that... after the required 1 - 1,5 years of patching :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Anyway, still my go to series for some online shooter sessions, had shit tons of fun especially with BF 2 3 4 and even 2142 since! launch, but definitely it is an absolutely good game for quite some time now!

You say you don’t care, but the amount of time you spent typing a reply says you do 🤫

I hope that they're remembering what Battlefield was about. And stop chasing the Call of Duty/Battle Royale/Fortnite audience. Battlefield was big maps, lots players, vehicles with sketchy physics (i.e. fun), flag points and the ticket system as a count down/cumulative team health.
No further bullshit required. Make one of these again and nail the foundations and you'll get a good game.

I'm replying to your attempt at justifying your views on the shooting.

I don't care, as in: I don't care that there are Reddit threads that agree with you.

Also, if a few sentences is a lot of time to you, then no wonder you struggle with aiming in the game.

I think you're confused. Here's a handy reference guide:

Don't care = No reply, because doesn't matter
Care too much = replying twice to justify the ways in which you supposedly don't care

?? I mean, that doesn't really make any sense, R6 is saying they don't care about Reddit post, not that they don't care about BF or this thread or talking about BF or anything of the sort.

So you may have taken that word a bit too literal and exaggerated what they mean.

I mean, they even say "I don't care, as in: I don't care that there are Reddit threads that agree with you." ....

So I agree with R6Rider R6Rider on this one, BFV has some of the best gunplay in the whole series, but that is simply my opinion, some feel its BF3 or BF4 or 2042 or BF1 etc, its a subjective thing. I hated the gunplay in BF1 in regards to the slow TTK, but some people really loved it, so....no disrespect, but I don't understand this idea of being confused that someone has a different opinion then you regarding this.

Look at this fucking thread, look at any BF thread, the whole community has their favorite BFs and everyone has a different view on which is the best, worst etc.

That should have been enough to tell you that is a subjective idea...

Issue with Battlefield is that it’s basically open area COD… But COD does everything better than Battlefield.

I think if Battlefield went all out realistic mil sim and really separated itself from the arcadey play style it would do better.

I have zero expectations for the future of the franchise. A blunder that was the 2042 launch makes me think they will do everything possible to ensure the next one is near perfect at launch. With that said I will always prefer a bad BF game to a good COD game, I just can't get into those. Also 2042 is actually really REALLY good atm, but it also shouldn't have taken this long.

I used to side with the gamers. Then I saw what gamers actually are. They disgust me.

The developers are right. I side with them.

BF2042 failed because it was a glitchy, unfinished mess and the core premise is flawed today. It had nothing to do with specialists.
