Now and Then, Here and There was one of the worst excuses for a show I've ever seen. It's just Neo with magic Plot Weapon vs Agent Smith with magic Plot Armor, but everyone else is fucking miserable until God decides on a whim to fix shit. Anyone who hails this as great while also categorically condemning other shows should be ashamed of themselves.

Goddamn, that's vicious. Between this and the series' major supporter being a Tekken player, I'm a bit wary now.

Give me your top 10, then.

Death Note just reuses the Xanatos Gambit every time. Gets boring and tiresome afterwhile

The GiTS manga came out in the 80s but yeah you got it.

If hyper realism, imagery, mature themes, violence etc were the trademarks of the 90s... what is the 2000s' trademark?

Serious question here.

You high mayne?

Now and Then, Here and There was so great that Deadman Wonderland staff decided to steal the whole concept and create another light-hearted version of the story.

Don't give me that. Just watch it.

If you go into a show with negative expectations, then you're gonna have negative reactions. Go in neutral and tell me your reactions.

Where is the Azumanga Daioh love?? Or Abenobashi. FLCL? Guys missing out on some good shit. Anyways FLCL is probably the last anime I enjoyed. So far its just been Queens Blade for obvious purposes. Lol

Not here to judge, but to ask: apparently there is a common agreement to not talk about fighting games in here at all, right?

Slice of life. Those are trademarks of the 80s though
The problem with slice of life anime for me is that they are too dependent on excellent writing for them to be entertaining or veer into ground breaking territory. An anime can have excellent writing but it almost invariably gets lost in translation. They are harder to judge and even harder to rank. It's also difficult to find a good one amidst the mediocrity. I don't even watch an anime until at least the premise seems interesting.

Bookmarked. Thank you.

How do you play Super Smash Bros with a stick.
What would the problem be?

But that's for video games.
Not just video games. Movie rehashes:
Transformers (2007)
Planet of the Apes (2001)
The Stepford Wives (2004)
A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
Halloween (2007)
Rollerball (2002)
Bewitched (2005)
Herbie (2005)
Friday the 13th (2009)
Godzilla (1998 - close enough)
The Pink Panther (2006)
The Day the Earth Stood Still (2006)
Psycho (1998)
Clash of the Titans (2010)
The Grudge (2004)
The Omen (2006 - did not even know this existed until now)

Bleed it over to the next decade and you get gems like Total Recall and Judge Dredd.

JUST LOOK AT ALL THOSE SHITTY REHASHES!

We talk about fighting games, or things directly related to fighting games, 75% of the time here.

Smash Bros has analog sensitive inputs.
Oh right!

Hey man Dredd was good.
I didn't bother. Regardless, you see my point.

Mind you, I included Garzey's Wing because, from what I remember, it made me laugh harder than any comedy anime. If you want something more legitimate swap it out with Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu.
FMP is standard enough that I know about it. I appreciate your list because it's obscure to me. I'll give Sayah's series a few episodes to see how it goes as well.

I realized a few days ago that Smash is basically a four-button fighter but has Heavy attacks mapped to smashing the stick. So Normal/Heavy/Special/Block.

There's no news unless you want to talk about smash

and why would you want that

Because it looks significantly better than shitty Brawl and as a huge fan of Melee I could see Smash U becoming a respectable fighting game again.

Yes, I think Melee deserves to be in this category.

The MC Cthulhu stick PCB has a Smash Bros mode where it maps double-taps to the appropriate analog signal along with some other accommodations, and has both a 3 button and 6 button variant.

Today is one of those days. Honestly, the anime talk has never been as strong as it has been today. It definitely has something to do with the lack of talking points. There is no drama, no big news for popular fighters and we're still a ways off from CEO. We might get a couple more days like this from here to CEO, but it'll mostly be fighting talk, trust me.

Melee is one of my top three fighters and games of all time, but that won't get me hyped for Smash U. Brawl was definitely the biggest gaming disappointment I've had since I picked up a controller. I'd say RE6 was worse, but I don't even consider it an RE game.

I'll get hyped if the game is nearly as fast as melee. Tripping is already out which is HUGE news.

I just tuned in to FGTV to see FChamp play Wesker...

Anime talk started because of Killer Instinct, Sailor Moon and 90s nostalgia.

Damn SolarPowered already played RE7?? Please tell me when the Marvel patch drops as well.

Was it as full of absurd contrivance?

You're the first person I've come across that hates it.

It's an anime that deals with a lot of contemporary societal problems on a grand scale
child soldiers, corrupt leadership, rape, etc.
. It's clearly not based in reality but the themes and topics that it presents serves as a wake-up call, in many ways, for what's happening in our own world. It's got a great narrative and it's one of those 1984-type dystopia stories that I could write an essay about. The very basic concept of the story can seem silly, yes, but, in depth, it is greatly conceived and brilliantly developed.

This anime offers what a lot of anime don't.

Ah shit I meant 6. I tell you right now that the first games I'd play if I went to the future are Mirror's Edge 2, MvC4, Skullgirls 2, Smash U and Mario Kart 8. I'd say F-Zero, but the current Nintendo will never make one.
