This Is Halo Now

You've only played PlayStation games your entire life? Dude I'm so sorry to hear that.

Halo is dead.
But just wait until Gears of War: E-Day shows its gameplay—or shows off all that "woke slop." it's an inverted pyramid that will culminate with Fable being the worst among them.

Mainly yes. But I've owned the following:

- NES
- SNES
- Sega Saturn
- Nintendo Switch
- Nintendo Switch 2

But 95% of the games I've played, have been on playstation consoles. FYI, did you know they also play 3rd party games too.

Halo was primarily known for its multiplayer. I can't say I have much desire to revisit the campaign of CE.

The first Halo didn't even have online MP.

The game was celebrated for it's SP campaign. I agree that the SP went downhill after Halo:CE, and it became more about MP then. But the series roots began in a stellar SP that was transformative for the genre on consoles.

Most games at the time didn't. Goldeneye and Mario Kart were also known for their multiplayer, yet the N64 didn't even have online capabilities.

Maybe I heard the wrong discourse, but I played the campaign a few years after it came out (like 2 years later on PC) and it was alright. It was most certainly no Half-Life. I remember it for the split-screen matches or LAN parties

the game sure plays like a old fucking game
Shit pathing
Shit controls for warthog
Cringe as fuck dialogue

I honestly don't want to play anymore and at the end of the second mission lol.

It looks alright but it all hangs together with paperclips

It's a 6.5 at best.
Whoever rates this an 8 is fucking high
SP 8
Coop 10

corvette deal with it GIF

Sorry if posted already, didn't want to derail the OT either but man... not even 5 mins into the video and it's insane how much of the original's charm is completely absent.

I'm sorry but people who gas up this slop (and yes I said the S-word) deserve all the bad the industry peddels them imo.

Yeah I called it before the game release about a month ago

At first I thought 'Campaign Evolved' was going to be the goods until I looked more into the official published videos and realized it just looked really bad.

The majority of people I know where playing the campaign in split screen co-op I know I did when it launched... Then MP mode kept the gaming otherwise. Campaign was a one and done deal.

The PC version had online PvP. Fun times

eh i mean... some of those complaints are a real stretch to be upset about.. I can drive slightly further out of bounds in the original.

major criticism seems to be audio for me but i also don't know how much this youtuber is "editing" to suit the narrative.

the objective markers are wank though, i hope you can turn them off.

I enjoyed the video, thought it was going to be more nitpicking about the aesthetic and sound of the game but the creator of the video brought some valid arguments and concerns. If "Halo Studios" was supposed to be a turning point to get the franchise back on track after 343 Industries fumbling it, and this is all they have to offer then it clearly shows that Microsoft has not learned their lessons or they just simply don't understand what made the original titles so special. It seems like Microsoft still wants Halo to be the next Star Wars. The game even has the Star Wars opening crawl when you start the bonus missions.

The new controls for the Warthog are fucking atrocious.

An I playing a different game? because it controls the same to me!
The Warthog always had stick based and aim based controls. The new L2/R2 with stick controls are ass and putting it back to sticks made the Warthog feel way better.

Controlling the Hog in Campaign Evolved doesn't feel like the OG at all.

I didn't change any settings and it feels the same to me.
When is the last time you played CE?

Just to make sure I wasn't imagining things I just booted up both MCC and Campaign Evolved and went back and forth with the default controls own both games. Campaign Evolved's new controls do not feel the same until you switch them in the menu to aim based which is how they functioned in the original.

The original controls were always moving with left stick and "aiming" where you go with the right stick. The L2/R2 + left stick does not control nearly as well and the warthog instantly becomes less slippery feeling when you switch back.

I play it most years. You just control the warthog with both sticks no? Whats different?

The original controls (or aim based in Campaign Evolved) have you moving the vehicle with forward/backward with the left stick and turning with the right stick/camera. The new controls use R2 for forward, L2 for reverse, and the left stick to control direction so like a modern racing game. The issue is the underlying physics for the Warthog are the same as before so the new controls make the Warthog feel more slippery.

I know I'm not alone either because I watched multiple people bring it up in impression videos, and I just finished the last episode of Defining Duke and Matty talked about it for a bit.

I don't know what to tell you except the default behaviour on the XSX controls the warthog exactly as in all previous halos. All stick based, it drives where you aim.

Maybe the default setting is different per platform?

Regardless, it's a moot point. You have a setting to revert it to original behaviour. It's really nothing worth complaining about.

I'm playing on PS5 Pro so maybe? My controls were set to "driver based" or whatever they have it called and after like 5 minutes of it feeling bad I decided to look in the settings and changed it to aiming based.

The video I posted also is on PS5.

The new default control scheme was totally messed on PC, they had you turning the warthog left/right with the A and D keys. Once I found the aim based option in the settings, all was well again.

The game defaulted to Aim based on Xbox and played just like any other Halo game.

You probably changed it subconsciously.

So im gonna guess they are treating PS5 players as 'new to Halo', and have taken the opportunity to assign standard modern controls to vehicles.

Because the stick-based driving takes some getting used to! (although I'm pretty sure those familiar with Halo wouldn't have it any other way now).

Glad you got it sorted.

It's weird that only Xbox would retain the original controls by default. Matty from Last Stand also played on PS5 I believe.

If they didn't give you the option it would obviously be a big deal but I was annoyed when I first got the warthog because the "alternate" controls are truly ass.

Not buying the game with a 12 year old girl face.
This kind of thing needs to be called out—it happens in the Far East, and everyone here knows it (if you don't, just Google it): the fetish for adult women who look like teenage, achieved through creams and the like, as well as the use of children's clothing and hairstyles. This needs to be condemned; it's not "culture" at all. If you watch any documentary about life in those countries from a few years back, none of this existed;

in fact, it needs to stop. It's anime, games, and so on—childlike depictions mixed with sexualization. I hate it.

A lot of people did call Shiftup out for it. Though there was a barrage of counter gaslighting. I don't think there's anything wrong with being attracted to the cute, youthful look, that's generally what the East is into, but there does need to be a line drawn with how young these characters look in games, anime, ect.

I still do not understand the allure of this franchise. I didn't own a Xbox or 360 as I wasn't into pc only after ps1. Playing pc fps made console look lame at the time. I tried halo 2 on vista and I didn't like it. I tried the mcc when it was super cheap and I downloaded reach and was bored. I don't know it seems very generic. Maybe it's a nostalgia thing for people and I wasn't there so wouldn't know.

I'm good 😬

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw that the invisible enemies were marked.
You can't be serious.
Also, I can't believe they added "Focus, M"-tier dialogue.

re: the invisible enemies, any time you're in one of the combat arenas where you must kill everything to progress, when its ~5 enemies left, they get marked.

it's a big oversight that it happens in that specific fight where the whole point is that you're being attacked by cloaked enemies the first time.

I don't even need to watch the video, and if it's poorly made it's not gonna make the mixed review average on Steam go away. General consensus is mixed, which sucks for them.

343 has consistently sucked at making games in this series that hold up to the original Bungie entries, and even if they improve the library or the graphics doesn't take away from the other changes that are annoying people. It doesn't even mean the remake is bad, it's just not good enough to make people care about the series much anymore.
