Loved Halo 5 MP but the faithful hated it and the campaign as you say, was ass. Not getting into a sprint/ADS debate again but that's what kids want these days.
But yeah be nice if they came up with a way to modernise the game with idea's they haven't cribbed off someone else. The game was famous for it's AI and how fun it was at the time they should start there IMO.
modernising Halo without sprint and without ADS is so easy imo.
the ACTUAL THING that needs modernisation and 343i needs to look at what other shooters do is the one thing 343 refuses to actually modernise... and that's the gunplay and the aiming controls.
the gunplay is still stuck at relying on a ridiculous amount of aim assist and bullet magentism, and the aiming on controller still feels like you're playing a game from 2002.
the max turn speed in Infinite is so insanely slow that you can't even intuitively make use of its mechanics.
like the ability to use the Repulsor to do a high jump. in order to do that you have to aim to the ground, jump and trigger the Repulsor. doing that on controller feels so fucking awful, because it takes 5 business days until your slow ass aim speed allows you to adjust your aim far enough downwards to actually do that.
then there's the fucking singular reaction curve that is the fucking worst. while also forcing aim acceleration on at all times.
the entire feel of aiming and shooting in Halo Infinite feels so clunky and behind the times, yet they are scared to not have ADS, sprint and clamber because "we need to be modern"
and that mismatch imo shows very clearly that noone at that studio actually wants to modernise halo. all they do is parade the corpse of Halo around, while slapping different costumes on it to see if something sticks.
