Take Two confirms PS5 and Xbox Series as platforms for GTA VI (no PC)

Of course, the timing almost lines up perfectly with the next-gen consoles.

2025: Current-gen consoles
2026/2027: Enhanced PC version
2027/2028: Next-gen port based on PC version

You damn well know most won't resist and wait 1-2 years to play it on PC. They'll buy it when an enhanced version with path tracing and new graphics comes out, they'll buy it again. Then perhaps a third time for their PS6.
Lol I will, TBH after Red Dead 2 I'm not in a rush they burned that bridge with me. If it ends up being a super ridiculous realistic slog again I can honestly wait or skip it altogether.

Good FPS and resolution is worth waiting a year or so longer

Who told you the console wont have "good fps and resolution"?

Likely game of the generation from a franchise that hasn't released in over a decade with 2 generations worth of engine upgrades and your response is:

there's always enough other stuff to play.

You aint fooling anyone. Your dosage needs a massive boost.

Rockstar can have all the budget in the world and they still can't change the console's hardware.
But ofc "good" in this regard is a question of standards, and mine are above what consoles have delivered for a while now ( in the AAA realm at least). If you're fine with 30sth fps and upscaled DVD resolution(overdramatization) then that's your thing.

Yuck, there is your ridiculous SM2-level hyperbole again. I played less GTA 4 and 5 combined than Bloodborne or NiOh. I can wait without remorse. It's just a game ... And one with such a budget deserves to be played on the best hardware possible imho.

That's rich coming from someone who seems to have such a strong need to make his budget plastic box look special....

Expected, but disappointing nonetheless.

Whatever, plenty of stuff to keep me occupied until the PC release.

Yeah as I'm a poor pc peep, apparently, I'll just have to double dip gta6 in my PS5, or the PS5 Pro when it comes out, and play GTA6 on my poor poor pc in all it's glory afterwards. Poor poor me. What a bunch of little children here.
Exactly my thinking, I really don't understand the childish mentality and emotional attachment people get to their plastic box. I'll play it on PS5 Pro when it launches and then play the best version when it launches on PC, no issues, same thing I've done with Playstation exclusives in the past.

It’s already confirmed either way. It’s also all but confirmed to release on Ps6 and Ps7.

lol they have the numbers, they know you'll happily double, triple dip on mass.
thats why they're pulling this shit since eternity.
who do you think you are impressing with your childish "their loss, i have my backlog" tantrums. geez

Eh I did the whole console thing in the GTA 4 and GTA 5 era. Personally hated playing on consoles, i hated the joypads and I hated the restrictions and lack of options, hell not to mention paying for multiplayer. I am not going down that route again. Plus their is the issue of forking out £400/£500 quid just to play one game (before you go but but Sony exclusives I have zero interest in Sony exclusives. I don't even buy the things when they hit the PC). I aint double dipping. If it comes to the PC it comes to the PC.

Personally I thought the suggestions this would have launched on ps4/pc were equally dumb.

I don't care if you've spent $4000 on your PC if you want to play this before the end of 2026 you will be buying a $600 ps5 pro. And it will be glorious.

Nah, my console era is long gone and over. Sorry Rockstar, not gonna double dip this time.

Rockstar, get with the times you motherfuckers.

Wait, it's 2025 for the consoles.. holy fuck :messenger_tears_of_joy:

There is also an issue that some just cannot play GTA (or any game for that matter) on consoles. I regularly play with a guy on GTA online that suffers from Multiple Sclerosis his disability means that he cannot play games on a console. So his only option is to wait and hope there will be a PC version and it doesn't take nearly 2 years after the console version (gta 5 was 20 months). But hey Rockstar got to get those double dips and fuck their player base.

Take Two knows a bunch of folks won’t wait for the PC release and will reluctantly buy the console release so they don’t miss out. Then those folks will buy it again for PC when it ships a year later so they can run it at 60+ FPS with everything maxed on their 5090s.

I’m sure T2 would love to have PC at launch but the problem with adding PC, especially with its wide range of SKUs, is that it would delay the launch of GTA VI due to the added QA and technical burden. They are probably already struggling with 3 performance profiles (PS5, XSX, XSS). T2 is also in the fortunate position of not having to worry about losing sales from a delayed PC launch.

The only way they skip pc this time is if one of the console platforms....ahem Sony ...ahem...has paid them like 500 million dollars to skip PC.

500m? Not enough for even month time exclusivity, much less skipping PC.
GTA Online generates tons and tons of money now. Imagine GTA6 launching with Online component. The amount of $$$ they will earn within a couple of days will be above 1b.

GTA is essentially right now the unique combination of GaaS component with the enormous following and also a huge single player game. I don't see it not launching on PC day 1. The bigger question is if it arrives to Switch 2 in the future or not. At least maybe GTA Online will arrive there considering that Switch 2 should be comparable to PS4.
