Spider-Man 2 is the buggiest Sony AAA release ever

How do people just blast through those kinds of games in less than 2 days is beyond me.

I mean, the game is about 10/11 hours long. 6 hours cutscenes, and about 4/5 hours gameplay. (Not including side stuff)

But I saw a streamer I watch platinum it pretty quick. Did it in 2 sessions, under 20 hours I think.

I think the bug I saw the most was him clipping into buildings and trucks when swinging.

I personally could've seen this game be a 2024 title but Sony HAD to release something this year otherwise they would've had nothing, so I think they pushed real hard to get it out when they did.

I always wonder how people get to those bugs. They must be terrible players so they do some stuff that causes it. Hilarious some are though. Only real bug so far I encountered was a NPC standing in a T-pose on top of a building somewhere. Nothing like the examples in this thread so far.

The one part where you were sneaking around the school and it tells you how to jump on the ceiling was bugged for me. It just wouldn’t do it. Restarting the game fixed it.

You're probably right. The game gets frustrated with low skill players and just shits itself in protest.

Ive played a little and so far:

- Stuck in geometry a few times.
- crashed into a bridge while swinging and got stuck inside the cement lol
- floating molotov cocktail mid air that followed me for a while
- enemies standing still during combat

It's definitely buggy... although it hasnt hindered my enjoyment of it yet.

Iam at like 50% total progress and did alot of side activities. Besides one crash it run completely flawless with a world this complex that's insane.

90% sure Spider-Man 1 was in the 30-40 range after 3 months.
OK, guess it varies between countries then. In Sweden, new PS5 games cost around $75 and they don't drop for a long time. Spider-Man 1 was for PS4 though and the game prices have increased significantly here with the PS5, and the prices don't drop as quickly. Whatever, this was quite OT.

Bugs galore, quite apt for a 'spider'-man game.

Here's what I have come across:
-Mobs AI not working, they just ignore my presence.
-Enemies getting stuck in water so cannot compete task.
-Spider robot thing getting stuck in vent walls (happened three times)
-feet not touching pedals in the bike ride with Harry.
-lots of Spiderman and NPC clipping
-texture shimmering

seems QA was rushed or ignored to achieve a release and marketing date.

Currently at 62% completion.

Too bad. Guess it’s a good thing I’ll have to wait a bit more then so they can iron it out.

Most of the things I’ve seen have been funny stuff/harmless though. But if there’s crashes and bugs that result in being unable to complete objectives that really sucks. Surprised to hear that tbh.

Exactly.

Some ppl just need ways to cope. Its cool. I'm just patiently waiting for the first week sale numbers.

So this is coping?

It seems like the people who actually own the system and are playing the game are running into this stuff while those who don't actually have a PS5 and aren't really playing the game are the ones in a "echo chamber".

^pretty much,

myself, i've only been able to play about 30 mins so far, and it was a great time, but that's probably going to be as long as i can get in for a good few days

If you dont think I have a PS5 or this game....I dont what else to say. But I guess the ppl having issues outweighs those of us that dont.

Cool.

And I guess you are implying we have another situation of reviewers pulling a Cyberpunk 2077 and turning a blind eye to issues....huh.

Bugs I ran into from beginning to end:

Hard crashes to the dash. Just swinging around New York. Random times.
Frozen controls. Mostly when it transitions from a cut scene to gameplay and often if there's a prompt on screen for a specific move. Have to reload a checkpoint to progress.
Both Peter and Miles spinning like Michael Jackson when trying to interact with a box/POI (the triangle prompt):
I had these 3, two crashes, spinning fixed itself after a few seconds thankfully and a brightly glowing Spider-Man (I took a screenshot, might upload it).
Also had weird film grain, turned it down to 2.
Enemies getting stuck in cars/buses and they can't be killed to complete the crime POI.
Enemies getting stuck under the ground, causing you to reload the checkpoint and restart the whole encounter (happened to me at Coney Island, one robo dog was stuck under the ground).
Those T-stuck animations.
There are certain enviromental things late in the game (spoilers to describe them) that can cause Peter or Miles to get stuck, again causing a checkpoint reload.
Didn't have these.

Never compared it to Cyberpunk. But I don't trust reviewers to put more than 8 hours into a game these days.
I know you didnt, I used that as an example of reviewers vs general public.

Again, I guess the reviews of the game are now questionable? Or do reviewers usually not count issues in their reviews, because I swore they did for Forbidden West and Days Gone.

He thinks like if some weird stuff happen in one playthrough that it means it's generally like that. Like I said totk got praised for being bugfree. Go to YouTube it isn't.

Not a fan of the insomniac spider man games, I feel they turned it to a movie game and the combat is watered down for casuals where one button does the moves for you(automated). Also the villains look generic and not like how they are supposed to like in the comics. The spiderman games from ps1 and ps2 are way better.
