Ouch.

"NOA is requesting the attached proposed subpoena that would order Discord Inc. ("Discord") to disclose the identity, including the name(s), address(es), telephone number(s), and e-mail addresses(es) of the user Julien#2743, who is responsible for posting infringing content that appeared at the following Discord channel Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom," the document reads in part."

Not surprised, it was only a matter of time. You can’t escape the Nintendo Ninjas.

Was anything major revealed in that leak? I don't even remember hearing of it.
A lot of seemingly important characters, hints towards minnish people returning, hints towards themed dungeons (looking like Zora, Gerudo, Goron themed in the art), a lot of new outfit designs, revealed that crafting will be in (albeit not Fuse per se), new enemies etc.

Although it raises more question than it answers still. Everything looks pretty great though.

They could be investing money on better online infrastructure, on r&D to make joycons that don't drift, to offer support in more countries with different languages. But no, they have to focus on shit like that.

The most frustrating part is that it is probably the only occasion ever Nintendo will ever talk with the discord company.

Could be a tough lesson to learn, but what are Nintendo going to ask for once they get the identity of the leaker, damages?

I hardly think that they'd be able to prove that fewer people preordered, given what I understand to be massive preorder figures.

I take your point, but to be fair, the lawyers probably don't do much online infrastructure work.

Not without exchanging a friend code first anyway.

I mean, if you leak stuff, use a burner account and distance yourself in as many ways as possible from it. I mean just use a decent VPN on a randomly generated email account, on a new discord account. The VPN shouldn't be able to provide any details if you use the right ones, they're designed that way. If you're being super cautious, VM, privacy focus Linux distro, strip all details from the images, VPN, create email account, free trial a different vpn, and log in on that one while connected to the other VPN, get discord account, post images. Or just says fuck it and YOLO on TOR.

Nintendo definitely has the pettiest ninjas.

Certainly someone with 22,000 posts on NeoGaf understands that a video games are huge business.
Yes but it was an artbook not a game.

I was listening to former IGN in chief for Nintendo recently and they leaked shit back in the day worse than this without consequences.

This might seem hyperbole in this particular thread, but I am really hating Nintendo the last few years. Their game output has not impressed me, and the Switch has been the most "I don't need these Nintendo games on this Nintendo platform" system to me. Not to mention the FOMO bull shit they pull with stuff lately. But on top of that, they are turning into Disney in all the ways that suck. Makes me not wanna support them anymore.

It's like they reached this point where they feel nothing can touch their success, and so they treat their most devoted fans like shit because "we have the mass market" so people who are passionate really don't matter, because their brands just sell on name recognition alone. They don't need good marketing, they don't need the good will of the fans, they just need to keep appealing to lowest common denominator, and trample anyone who interferes with their plans. That's what tactics like this feel like.
