Going to give up on God of War Ragnarok, such a boring game and this is coming from someone who platinumed the first.
Hey, I enjoyed the first one but haven't tried the second. What would you say is the factor that has made you drop the second? Gameplay? Writting?

A bit of both really. The opening hour was great but in the ten or so hours I’ve played since, the game has gotten absolutely nowhere story wise with some parts severely dragged out. The realms I’ve visited have been bland and the gameplay is more or less identical to the first game doesn’t help.

I’ve heard it picks up massively later on but a game like this shouldn’t require 15-20 hours or so just for that to happen.

I have the same feelings but i actually finished the main story. It does not get better later on in my opinion and the story is overall dissapointing and bloated.

Think I’ll finally get round to playing A Plague Tale Requiem now.
Its really make or break for me this weekend. I just have a lot of issues with it. Really debating if I want to even do this right now. So many other options for things to play. Starting up my 3rd play session now. Im still early so I dont pretend to be some authority on the game, but its just not doing it for me at all.

I can't stand Mass Effect 3. So I started another run in Mass Effect 1 but this time the OG version on PC/Deck with texture fix and controller UI fix.

I actually prefer this old version. Much better color pallet. Look at Eden Prime. That's how it supposed to look. Planet supposed be destroyed by Reapers by the time we arrive.

Nothing but Ragnarok (PS4). So good, still can't believe I slept on GoW 2018 until last month. I'm expecting to get Callisto Protocol (XSX) in the mail today so I'm definitely going to play that tonight.

Thats a huge difference. Geez.

I actually like how old games look at high resolution. I dont need remakes that much.

Finished God of War last week.

STILL.....playing Octopath Traveler. Decided to finish all the side quests before I jump into the final area. Got all the advanced jobs. This game really does not get old.

Also playing Xenoblade Chronicles DE on Switch. Not sure how I feel about it yet. Combat is weird.

Spending a lot of time ripping PSP and PS2 games from disc to Steam Deck. By far the most versatile console I've ever owned.

Finished Ac Valhalla Last Chapter Thing. After 2 years in and out with the game, goodbye story felt so hollow and sloppy. Roshan was cool for 5 second that's it.

Been juggling quite a few games now which is not something I generally prefer, but I´ve been restless the last few months and can´t seem to settle on one game. Since the last two months I´ve been playing Dying Light, Blair Witch, Legend of Mana, Broken Sword, Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok and a little bit of Demon´s Souls and Elden Ring on the side. God of War Ragnarok is finished and I´m also on the verge of completing Horizon, Dying Light and Broken Sword. Gonna be nice to clear out all of these games so I can start fresh on something new. I think my next game will be either Death Stranding or Psychonauts 2.

That is my big complaint about it too. I’m also playing through and even though it’s short I am getting tired quickly. Through and despite how detailed and realistic their portrayal of the city is, it feels like there is absolutely nothing to do. Just worthless collectables and copy/paste missions. And while some people said combat and swinging was an improvement, I found the game rips control out of your hands more than the first Spiderman and that drives me crazy.

The weirdest part is how, of all games, Spiderman should benefit from being built like a blockbuster movie. It just doesn’t land for me.

Finally having a bit of fun with Ragnarok. This area actually is letting me breath a bit and some decent small puzzles mixed in with the combat. This part feels like the first game in a good way.

Continuing my Disney-adventures, this time with Peter Pan: Adventures in Neverland on PSX. It's pretty decent. You fly around levels avoiding traps and enemies, collecting feathers and keys to access hidden areas. The CG cut scenes are nice (and shows half nude mermaids, oh la la) which tells a rather safe story that's in line with Disney. Sometimes you're even rewarded with animated clips from the real movie the game is based on. Here is what IGN had to say about it upon its release in 2002.

I want to start and finish my Sega Saturn backlog on SFF w/ ReShade CRT Royale filter, and see how it works on my retro machine. Mednafen seems to piss all over it because its requirements are tenfold that of SFF, and i'm not investing in that machine since it works fine with everything up to CEMU. I've backed up a lot of games years ago, shit some more than a decade ago, but got lazy.

Today i'm done with the original Panzer Dragoon. Its orchestral soundtrack and atmospheric artstyle is brilliant to this day, but the technology powering it hopelessly superseded by its sequel (Zwei) which is a massive improvement in every way. With a bit of leniency, it's a fun game. Absolutely worth it for a bit of history, experience, and to have a frame of reference for the improvements brought forth in Zwei. There are 3 difficulty options - Easy, Normal and Hard. I blew through Easy effortlessly (which is only playable up to Episode 4 out of a total 7 episodes) then got hit by a brick wall at Normal. Kept dying over and over. There is also no way to save progression. Last boss was a headache, so i fucked him over with save states! Get the hell out of here. Done. Ain't gonna attempt to finish Hard.

SSF Emulator Compatibility - Flawless from start to finish, the only hiccup is a sound issue at the last seconds of the ending credits.

The ending illustrations are really nice, took a few screenshots of them.

Finished GoW Ragnarök few days ago. Even better than I expected. Fantastic title.

Next, started A Plague Tale Requiem. Some sections and fights are very annoying.
After that I am going to play Return to Monkey Island, probably Scorn and finally in the second part of December Elden Ring and Gran Turismo 7.

Didn't realize it released already! :goog_relieved:

Thanks bro.

Its out. Definitely AA but its fun. Apparently the guy in the anime is supposed to be a tank so it kind of explains the gameplay a bit. You get shot a lot and have heavy shields. Very unique and strange approach to action but I'm totally into it. Auto aims on everything most. Reminds me a bit of gunvalkyrie aiming.

Since you were asking about GOW, I got further in Ragnarok today and I'm enjoying it now. Definitely got to the first solid level. Its about on par with the first one. Some of the story and dialogue is worse but its fine I guess so far.

Just going to play no more than a few hours a day and also play other stuff too to take my time with it because its pretty long. If you liked the 1st game this is pretty close to it with some new stuff too. Its not bad. I dont think it will blow you away but its great visually and its a solid game. My opinion anyway, so far.

I've gone back to playing Yakuza 5. I was expecting Haruka's chapter to be a complete slog, but I actually like her minigames and quests. And it's a nice change to be able to explore town without being stopped for a fight once every 30 seconds. ;)

I finished the first four levels of Gungrave before uninstalling. It's just a mind numbing experience. I've given Signalis a whirl tonight and it makes a really strong first impression.

Im on level 4 now. It is 100% mind-numbing. But I still like shooting shit and seeing explosions.

I get it. I love games like EDF and those don't exactly make you think but Gungrave is so plodding and on the default difficulty settings at least, you could beat the game without really looking at the screen save for the few shield enemies they throw at you.

Playing Ragnarok, plague tale requiem, nfs unbound, and just picked up Soulstice. I have no issue with the pacing or storytelling in gow and the combat is a nice improvement over 2018. My issue’s are that it feels linear compared to 2018. Ragnarok locks you into these long linear stretches of game. Don’t remember 2018 doing that to this extent. In 2018 you could do a main story section, complete 40 min worth, and bail to go off andvchoose some sidequests if you wanted. In Ragnarok those main quest missions go for 2-3 hours straight with almost no branching paths to break it up a little and to make matters worse your companions have to tell you the solution to every god damn puzzle, which could’ve helped with pacing. Since puzzles are solved for you and you’re told exactly where to go at all times it feels like all im doing is combat encounters. While combat is great, without some periods of puzzle solving and downtime, there’s a bit of repetitiveness that 2018 didnt have.

The devs didnt want there to be much room for uncertainty in this and that hurts the game imo. The story, combat, and visuals are awesome. Some of the dialogue is genuinely funny. Atreus’ voice actor is a bit cringe in this though, he sounded more natural as a little kid imo.

Plague Tale is pretty damn good and im way more engaged in this than i was in the first. The graphics are awesome and on of the more next gen looking games. The gameplay is so much better than the first despite the controls feeling sluggish on SX. It can get frustrating but all in all i feel like this is how you do a sequel.

Soulstice so far is nothing to write home about but im only an hour into it and i expect it to get better.

NFS unbound- the driving is fun and it looks nice but the city is kinda dull and the dialogue is beyond terrible. Im doing the 10 hour trial i recommemd the trial for $5 if you’re interested in it.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
Dragon Quest XI.

I've been playing for a couple hours and it feels like a good old school Japanese role-playing game which is exactly what I was wanting.

This is my first Dragon Quest game since Dragon Warrior 3 on the NES.

Went back to Scorn. Wow this is suddenly a surprise hit for me. It started off so slow that I got bored at the last sitting but I had more time and went further and hasn’t been able to put it down. It’s like some Alien Myst hybrid, I’m loving it. The art design is amazing, best for the year for me now. Been taking so many screenshots. Looks amazing. And zero hand holding is refreshing. Thanks nkarafo nkarafo for talking about the shader stutter which was the main reason I gave it another go.

Playing through Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Really enjoying it. The world's a bit static, but holy crap it's Dreamworld level beautiful. It feels like I'm in the Kungfu Panda world at times!

The story is intriguing so far and the combat is decent, could have tighter controls, but I'm getting the hang of it. Yeah the bosses are a difficulty spike, but I'm used to that from Souls games!

I recommend it to those that a more streamlined but very beautiful action adventure game, with some metroidvania aspects.

It's no Elden Ring, but for a smaller production, gotta give them kudos.

Still chugging through Sonic Frontiers, I'm on the third island. Also still thoroughly enjoying my play through of Pentiment as well, not sure how far through I am but it has been amazing.

Went back to Horizon Forbidden West after a short break playing other games, such as AC Valhalla, and the graphical leap FW is between them is pretty significant. Valhalla looks really good sometimes but FW is just on another level, both technically and artistically. It's also a very fun game. It feels like such a huge upgrade over the first one, especially the combat which I never get bored of.

Finished Stray. Really enjoyed it. It took me a little by surprise, as I wasn't expecting what I experienced.

Going to back to RE8 to do speed run, etc., and will trophy hunt in Stray another time.

I keep going back and forth on my opinion on Ragnarok. Some of these puzzles are terrible. I can see why playtesters told them to add in the aggressive hint dialogue.

Phantasy Star 1 [Sega Master System]
Ive never played this game before despite playing thru Phantasy Star 2 and 4 multiple times. Obviously now im seeing where all the connections line up, especially to 4 - and it makes the sequels just that much better. Putting into proper context, the scope of this game must have been pretty amazing back in the late 80s. Its still a fun classic. The unique scifi vibe always appealed to be more than base Final Fantasy.

Im playing thru the newest 2020 v2.1 translation - which I guess renames characters and changes the script to be more in line with the Japanese version - and line up better with the sequels. It also has multipliers on xp and money to alleviate the insane 1980s jrpg grind.

I saw there was improvement patches released for PS 2 3 4 in a similar fashion - and just released in 2022. Ill play those soon too.

Halo Infinite multiplayer [Series X]
With just the recent addition of 2 new maps, that play completely different and are more 'Halo' than the rest of the game's offerings, you can truly see the potential of this game. Counting the minutes until the forge floodgates open into matchmaking and Infinite will finally be worth frequently play sessions.
