I just got my PS5, one and three-quarter years post-launch. I like it. I was wondering how many on GAF have it now and how many still want it but haven't been able to snag one.

Summary of current poll results (evolving):

68% (274) have a PS5.

4% want one but can't get one.

17% may get one in the next couple years.

11% (44) don't want one at all.

I cry about SonyGaf from my chair in Redmond, WA
This is a biased poll that will bring the worst people for both camps.

It's not surprising that I won't, as I don't find sonys exclusives interesting.

Truth be told, I'm not really interested in the Xbox either, but plan on getting one (SX) because my GPU is faulty and don't want to pay these prices for the GPUs.

The prices are still unaffected in my country, and for someone that doesn't have much fun money then xbox all access makes sense because I am having game pass ultimate anyway.

I thought I was being overly careful by camping out just to get a preorder in months before release. I'm thankful I did though.

I've had PS5 and XSX since launch and as month after month and now years going by with people still trying to find one, I'm very thankful I got mine at MSRP.

But, honestly, if I hadn't, I would have begrudgingly paid a scalper whatever I needed to.

Don't have nor want one right now, but could consider getting one in the future if Sony's exclusive titles start being more appealing to me.

Seeing how things are going tho, I don't think that'll be the case.

Yup, here you are.

How is it biased? The only negative responses would be from people like yourself who are triggered that PlayStation remains in high demand.

You would have better served ignoring the thread, after voting for whatever is closest to "I hate Sony". Now, you just sound jaded and petty.

I'm primarily PC, but I've owned all the Sony consoles and it feels a bit weird not to have a PS5, but with the way things are trending, I may not even get one or wait a long while, if I do. If the bigger PS titles make their way to PC eventually, I'm happy to wait and play them on my preferred platform. I don't need any specific box.

Bought it day 1. If it widely available I would say that it is honestly not worth getting as most games are coming also to the PS4. Although 60FPS for almost all games is hard to go back from.

Same. I have owned every Sony (and MS) console. But this gen I just don't see the need. It feels weird not having them but not sure I would even get any use out of them anyway.

Last gen I only bought a PS4 Pro in late 2018 to play through the ~10-15 or so worthwhile PS4 exclusive games, given that Sony seems commited to releasing their games on PC and I only bought a single non-Sony published game I don't really see myself ever buying one.

Nah, Switch and PC are more than enough for me.

Gran Turismo is the only thing that really interests me. Astro's Playroom too and Sackboy if they make a new one, I guess. If I did get one, I guess I'd make use of the Blu-ray drive too.

I do like the DualSense controller though, despite it making my hands ache over extended use.

If and its a big if Astrobot gets a AAA PSVR2 release I'll buy one. That aside there is nothing remotely interesting about the PS5 for me.

not interested in it at the moment since they are no games on it that i want to play. so far the only announced game i want is FFVII Rebirth… which isnt out for another year assuming no delays. i could wait for the inevitable PC version and hope my PC can run it.

i dont want to buy a console just for one game. well i suppose Part 3 will also come to PS5 but even then im buying a console for 2 games which will likely have a ~3 year gap between them. so im hoping the PS5 gets more exclusives that interest me.

also im not buying the current PS5 model. if i get a PS5 itll be once there is a slim version and a price drop!

My wonderful GF got me mine for my bday a couple months back.

Loving it so far though im disappointed at the multimedia capabilities compared to PS4 and much less than PS3.

GT7, ratchet and clank, ghost of tsushima and days gone have taken up a ton of my time lately.

However I will say the console is dumb looking. Not that I care.

Got one a bit over a month ago. Currently it's not hard to find where I live, almost every big retailer has it available. The problem is that that everyone, including the official Sony store, is overcharging for it (they basically saw the scalper situation everywhere else in the world and went "wait a minute....what if WE scalp it instead?").
But one big retailer had some big sale event recently and they had it "discounted" to MSRP so I just went for it. With inflation and skyrocketing shipping costs it's probably not going to get any cheaper any time soon.

Would have preferred building a PC but right now it's not within my budget.

I'd have waited longer but I really wanted to play Elden Ring and didn't want to play the 30fps with bad framepacing Ps4 version. Also got an LGC1 last year and wanted something that could take a bit more advantage of it.

I love mine. I have PS Plus Extra too and it has a LOT OF AWESOME GAMES TO PLAY. Currently playing Returnal. What an amazing game! Im really into the atmosphere of the game, reminds me a bit of The Martian Chronicles, Event Horizon, and other Sci fi classics. Next: GoT or Guardians of the Galaxy.

Exactly what happened to me. My GPU isn't faulty beyond the fact that it's a meager 1060 (lol) but even if the card prices weren't insane I would have had to upgrade everything else (mobo, new CPU etc) too. My system is nice and stable and plays most titles that demand a PC well enough (FPS, RTS) so just getting an Xbox as a complement to my existing PC was really attractive.

It's actually even better than I thought, last night I was playing Quake on Gamepass, with a mouse. I didn't expect this to happen but I'm finding 90% of my play time on Xbox now.

PS5, yeah I'll wait for the revision lol. The hardware is a gaudy monstrosity and I can wait on the exclusives it does have so far. In fact, I bought PS4 Pro when the PS5 was revealed. I made the decision back then to just get a Pro and wait for the next version.

Every time I'm strolling through best buy or browsing an online store I see if I can get one. Hasn't happened and even if it did I probably wouldn't get one. Kinda want to play Demon's Souls remake but it ain't a system seller anymore. Especially with Elden Ring out and Sony releasing (older) stuff on PC now.

I'll wait.

Had one since last November. Use it pretty regularly and haven't had any issues with it. I also upgraded my storage and it was a pretty simple process.

I bought mine at launch, but my PS5 mostly used for 3rd party and mutiplatform games, I'm not as excited for its 1st party games like I used to be in PS1, PS2 and even PS3.

Apart maybe from the AAA qualifier, I don't see how is a BIG if. We all know that PSVR2 is going to release the next spring and it seems quite probable that it will be soon followed by the release of a new Astrobot. I'm ready to bet it will be a bigger game that the first chapter on PSVR, and very polished, but I don't know if this will be enough to classify as AAA in your opinion. I doubt it will have a very AAA budget.
