TLOU sold over 20M copies alone. TLOU2 is probably over 10M at this point.
And it also has a TV show on the way.
No way Gears of War touches this franchise. Maybe years ago but not currently...

If you expected more you have very unrealistic expectations. TLoU2 is only 2 years old and was absolutely state of the art at the time. Also this game isn't running at 60fps on PS4, that's for sure.

So long as the level and enemy design is rejigged to accommodate TLoU2's features, it could really be something. Some new enemies wouldn't be a bad idea to freshen things up either.

LOU1 sold how many copies on PS3/PS4? I think it was at 20M last time someone said anything. That means out of all the PS3 and PS4 gamers, only a fraction of gamers played it. And for strictly PC gamers all never played it.

This was being done by a support studio for PS4 and thats all it was going to be. TLOU with TLOU2's gameplay and visual enhancements, but then Herman started fucking around with it and then ND took over and wasted literally two years on an underhwelming PS4 remake.
I wouldnt have minded if this came from a B or Support Tier studio, but just the sheer fact that ND artists and programmers wasted 2 crucial years on a last gen looking game is very frustrating. Herman needs to be fired. THIS is Naughty God's first attempt on a PS5? This? Really? Almost 1.5 years into this gen? Last gen they had this trailer shown just 0.5 years into the gen.
Sure it was like a prerendered trailer but they got pretty close at the end with TLOU2 in cutscenes. I cant believe ND has wasted two years on something that doesnt even look as good as their trailer from 2014.

A remake for a game that sold over 20M copies is always going to have a positive response. Like it or not TLOU is one of PlayStation's biggest gaming events ever. The PC version + tv show, Factions and the TLOU2 remaster that's going to happen sooner or later are going to only elevate this IP.
Sony doesn't want people playing a PS3 game once the TV show debuts. It only makes sense.

Definitely agree it’s nowhere near the pace now.
Quite sad really, GoW was (in my opinion) the coolest console franchise going and it’s just stagnated into nothingness. I barely got past the tutorial level in 4.
But I think people are forgetting how big a title it was. Certainly felt like the title that defined the 360 generation.

This seems like the kind of project you put new staff on to get them used to their engine honestly. Maybe ND lost a lot of people after TLOU2 or something, or they're doing a lot of new hires and expanding.
Just seems like a filler project to get people's feet wet while the main teams work on design before full production on something else. And if they actually ever do a new IP, maybe that design portion is taking a long time.
This project reminds me of Wind Waker HD. EAD used it to just get experience working in HD and get paid for it from fans.
