Announced last year, Square Enix has finally priced the Terra Masterline figure at a whopping 1.485 Million Yen, or roughly 11,550 USD. Priced well out of the range of 99.9% of Final Fantasy (and gaming in general) fans, one has to wonder: Who is this for? It clearly isn’t for the well off Final Fantasy fan, nor is it for fine art connoisseurs.

For reference, they released a NieR Automata of similar scale and quality for 3-4k USD. I think it only had a few hundred more made too?

Like I get that this only has 600 pieces with 150 being relegated to only Japan (which is kind of a middle finger to your greater world audience), but who the heck can afford this pricing?

Well this looks like better value and quality than the 1/1 Rem (Re:Zero) figure/statue which costs about the same and was sold out.

Nah. When even the creator of the franchise goes to twitter to talk about how absurd and overpriced it is? You know they fucked up. I know plenty of FF fans who are more than well off and even they are scoffing at this price. You could spend *less* to get an official limited print of the artwork its based on from Yoshitaka Amano (roughly 250 were made and they go for around ~8k USD each).

It is considered one of hte best JRPGs in most western markets and almost as influential as Final Fantasy VII. There isn’t really *that* big of a difference between fan bases in other countries, unlike Dragon Quest where it dominates Japan versus other nations.

These super size statues are super detail but they are too big and there is just no space for them unless you have room specific for it.
