57% of Gran Turismo 7's sales were digital last week in Uk

I expected this tbh. Sony literally released Mario kart right after breath of the wild. Absolutely stupid love. GT7 should have released in April. Either that or Horizon in late March. Space the games out. Elden ring is just selling like crack and has overshadowed their AAA games.

The play tracker estimate of around 2.5MIL seems far more believable (and I would even increase that to maybe 3-4MIL).

If it's 2.5M what you're saying is that almost 40% of Elden Ring Steam owners were playing at the same time when it reached ATP.
Even with 4M that's almost 25%.

OK.

That's a burn if I've ever seen one. Honestly some of these comments DESPERATE to cast aspersions on anything not ER related are just silly.

You’re tripping lol. Game had 950k concurrent players on steam. That would mean nearly half the owners of the game in all different timezones were all playing at once.

Surprised physical sold that much. It’s an online-only game but I suppose the average purchaser doesn’t notice.

Hopefully it sells well enough that they support it well post launch. GT6 got a lot of content after release and none of it paid.

It's the greatest game I think I've ever played. Normally when you get 50 hours in to most games you've seen it all. In this you're barely scratching the surface and everything you stumble across is so meaningful and well put together. There are mini worlds within the open world, it's just astonishing.

If Elden Ring replaces GTA V as the never ending evergreen game then it will make me very happy.
That will NEVER happen. There shouldn't even be an 'IF' in that sentence.

Elden Ring is never going to appeal to casual gamers the same way GTA or other open world games do.

Elden Bling. Game of the generation for sure. nothings gonna top it in the next 5 years I dont think...and when that sweet DLC comes....Oh baby......not that I need it as I am over 100 hours in and still have parts of the map to unlock.... :D

For clarity, this game could very well become my favourite game of all time...and I never thought I'd say that in 2022 and at nearly 40 years old. Its unbelievable to me.

57% is decent. Deffo feels like a game you would want on your hard drive.

I want it digitally but 70 bones is a big no, no from me Jim.

Digital is obviously going to be higher this time since there's a good chunk of PS5 systems that are digital only.

I think those are great numbers, considering GT - and simulation-heavy racing in general - is a bit of a niche sub-genre in comparison to most major titles. GT proving its still got draw power.

With that said, Sony packed its launches too close together. They're out here charging AUD$125.00 a game now - folks won't be dropping that kind of money this often. If they want their higher prices, they need to give folks time to afford their titles, or accept lower sales.

GT game usually have longer legs throughout the year

Anyway both game are doing great

No need to get upset everyone

I would be surprised if they could do a new IP and be successful. This is probably the only thing this studio is geared to do.

You should go play Omega Boost, then. Great sci-fi mech-based shooter for PS1.

This is purely anecdotal, but my friends/family that never buy and play games got Elden Ring. This game is not your normal big release. This game is a little more special than that. I don't know why people are upset that Elden Ring is doing so well.

I don't think anyone is actually upset it's doing well TBH. However, I think some are (rightfully) peeved at the skewing of some of the review scores handwaving reported issues that other games were criticized for (and docked points for having), even including some recent games given lower scores for being difficult/challenging as if only one franchise is allowed to offer a challenge. It's exposed a big lack of objectively measurable consistency in the review process for aggregate sites like MC.

And in another way, the fact some people out there have weaponized it (including literal supposed gaming journalists) to attack other games, most of them conveniently exclusive to a specific platform, in what feels like rabid console warring. Which is odd, considering Elden Ring is a multiplat release.

Outside of those issues (which have nothing to do with the game directly or its developer or publisher, either), it's been all love for Elden Ring and seemingly deservedly so. I'll be looking forward to picking the game up in the near future and hope to share those same sentiments 👍

When you slap a 97 metacritic on a souls game, then u get casuls messaging me to teach them how to play the game cuz they have no idea what to do as this is they first souls games.
Glad its selling well game is great, but i now at 120h of gameplay and still havent finished it, and starting to feel burned as the bosses keep getting harder and ppl to co-op starts getting hard to find.

The only non racing game they've made in 22 years? I never played it but it doesn't seem to have reviewed well. I don't know that I would use that as an example of their ability to make something other than Gran Turismo.

They may be able to make a great new IP. But I'm guessing their people are so entrenched in the GT tech that they would be better off hiring a new team to build the new IP. Unless the new IP is a driving game.

love how elden ring just completely overshadowed two big PS exclusives lmao

but they're all playable on PlayStation. it doesnt overshadow them, it goes alongside them. its not like how it was with zelda botw which was an exclusive to another platform. even than i wouldnt call it overshadowed when zero dawn went on to sell over 20m copies. the best games are able to hold their own and take on strong competition.

It got 73% on GameRankings which isn't great but it's not terrible, either. The game's silky smooth, and it's one of the best-looking action games on PS1. Personally I would give it at least an 8/10.

I mean, you didn't mention there being a time span here ;) . But supposing all Polyphony have in them are racing games, I don't think anyone would mind a remake/reboot of Motor Toon Grand Prix.

I mean I wouldn't mind it either to be honest.

Gran Turismo is one of the few surviving racing franchises still around from the 90’s. Racing games have become a lot more niche just like fighting games.

The fact taht its putting up numbers with the biggest releases on the year so far is pretty impressive, first party or not
