I guess that completely kills any chance of a MK9 being announced before 2024 since they said those packs will slowly roll out till end of 23.

No. 25$ in total for all packs if I understood it correctly.
That's what my friends are saying too.

If this had included some kind of story mode or similar I'd be interested. Don't think I'll buy this just for online play with how incredibly barebones the SP is in this game

Yeah I’ll wait for a zoomer friend or two to nab it as it is released and then jump in for a MK8 Deluxe Final Mix cart in a couple years. Win win.

Multiple sites are reporting that each wave will cost $25 while IGN says it's for the whole thing. I'm not sure now.

I think the issue is that you buy the "Booster course pass", which costs 25$ but the releases are called "Waves" since they don't all release at once.
So each wave has 8 courses, but you cannot buy a single wave, you only can buy the whole pass, kinda like a Season Pass.
Even in the trailer they say "The first wave of the booster course pass will release march 18th" which kinda implies that you cannot buy them separately but only in the pass.

You're probably right, I was reading on sites like VGC where they reported that it's $25 a pack. That Nintendo image can be interpreted differently though.

I mean it is color coded but I guess it wouldn't have hurt to say "buy the pass for only 24,99$" to make it absolutely clear.
Also, to be fair, I would have imagined that Nintendo would have briefed the bigger gaming outlets like 1 day in advance about the releases or something like that.
It's pure chaos on google.

Nintendo is not charging $24.99 for 8 tracks.

This was the DLC for the Wii U:

Each pack was $7.99.
I'm probably wrong, there just seems to be a lot of misreporting going on at the moment. Btw, going by Wii U prices this DLC seems very cheap, which is unlike Nintendo.

Meanwhile Mario Party Superstars, despite being ripe for dlc with new boards, sits idle with the same five boards from launch.

It's kinda crazy to realize there were enough courses from the old games to effectively make 2 years worth of paid DLC for Mario Kart 8.

(Though a part of me is hoping they're actually taking a few courses from non-Mario Kart racers. Mute City was pretty hype.)

I skipped on 8 Deluxe because I already owned it on WiiU. If there is a chance I can get this for $25-$30 new or used I'll pick it up and get the DLC ASAP.
