Played about ten matches or so. Feels great. Controls took some getting used to cause I am coming from playing BF4. Aiming feels wonky. I am terrible at the sidearm. Even if I used the zoom in smart link. I used to be pretty good with the reach pistol and even the halo 5 pistol.

Love the needler effects.
All the weapons feel great.
Framerate isn't there yet; playing on the One X
The connection to the game was pretty good for a beta.
Levels were great visually,

I just need to get back into the Halo gameplay loop. Been out for a while.
But the game feels good. Great foundation.

so much fucking latency in online games that it just doesn't feel snappy enough for m/kb. the auto aim on controllers is overboard so you're just getting mowed down by console/controller players at close range.

Not sure why we have to play with these god awful drops.. half the time I'm waiting for a battle rifle to spawn because the starter guns are ass at the range you're engaging from most of the time. The drops are just flashing blue for what feels like 5 minutes. they need to increase the drop frequency because it's just not fun sitting around waiting to be able to compete.

Hit detection is still crap. Its not satisfying hitting shields and its still unclear how close you are to breaking shield despite the team saying they adjusted it.

Was having a lot more fun playing against bots where the controls were more responsive and I could actually enjoy the equipment and weapons in the game. I'm sure most of my concerns would be aleviated by a smoother experience with a decent refresh rate befitting a competitive shooter because right now it simply feels like shit to play online.

Bot matches are fun. PvP falls into arena shooter trap of those that have mastered levels and weapon spawn areas on a map dominate.
It tends to be teams of 4 get matched up with 4 ppl playing random pugs.

You can tell as you see the 4 running together and covering each other’s line of sights, while the 4 randoms are all over the map get mismatched and teamed on.

Playing with randoms today was frustrating as all hell. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

The auto aim goes away at too short of a range imo giving KB/M an advantage when they're far away. Basically, trying to land pistol shots cross map is incredibly harder with a controller. Wish sprint and clamper was out but i guess im a dinosaur now.

Aim assist is lower when not using rifles btw.

The aim assist is very low. Lower than any other Halo game to the point where people are complaining about KB&M being too dominant without it.

lmao... apparently controller players still don't think this is enough. It's ok though, it'll balance out somewhat when PC builds perform adequately and we can aim up to the standard of other shooters. On big team battle maps I imagine m/kb will have an edge but on 4v4 tight slayer matches its not fun playing these magnet aimbots in the games current state.

aim assist in this game is terrible in general. it feels super bad and harsh, + it's not well balanced because it's too strong close and too weak on mid range.

also, there is mouse aim assist btw! and it's on as a default. it's very weak tho

The game would objectively play better without them.

Map flow is poor because of the shitty clamber minigame you have to play periodically.

clamber is actually so bad... sprint I really don't care about in this due to it being basically not even a thing... they just needed something that makes sliding make sense, that's all it is.

but clamber, fuck that shit and the fact that the maps are so obviously designed around it as well -_-

its rather egregious.

Clamber breaks map design in similar ways that sprint does.

PC performance is all over the place too. Every time I start it, its different. Had 140+ fps last night with ~50% cpu utilisation and now its barely above 60 and using 70%+ cpu

One has to wonder just how bad this game was 12 months ago.

They fucked up the console controller default sensitivity settings big time from the last flight.
Way too fast and finicky now. Pistol aiming at someone 10+ feet away is impossible on default settings.
I opted for 5 look deadzones, 3 sensitivity, 1 acceleration.
Basically had to turn it way down.
The console aim assist in this game is very very weak.

PC heads complaining about aim assist (in this game and any other really) is a total joke. Find another excuse.
KB+M has the advantage 100% of the time. Mouse aiming completely breaks Halo sniper rifle as well - too easy.

really does feel like classic halo again but goddamn whats with the aiming? sometimes im shooting at a guy and its not registering. wouldnt say my aim is terrible, i play fps but not sweat level lol. it just seems off to me. generally though, playing it makes you imagine the state of this game last year was probably nowhere near ready.

now? it feels solid. wouldnt be surprised if theres a delay but not imagining it will be a few months, more like few weeks, it still feels like it needs just a bit more time. but 343 has left me impressed and just the way infinite feels is reminding me of reach and halo 3. never felt that way with 4 and 5 but this, this is what i was looking for the whole time.

Alot of the stuff people are complaining about are simple changes, this game is back to a great Halo MP experience, it looks great as well, cannot wait to play more!

I can pull up the scoreboard but can't get over to any names.

Some ppl with thier game audio way too loud.

I feel like with Infinite on kbm the sniper is the hardest it's ever been in a Halo game. On MCC you can easily no-scope people across the map but here its much more difficult, maybe because of the hitbox size.

Also, I just noticed that if you play on PC and also have a controler plugged in you'll get the controller aim assist on mouse&keyboard too, bit of an oversight on 343s part?

Thats good to hear about the sniper change for Infinite. When playing MCC you could immediately tell who was on PC - getting all sniper headshots from anywhere, instantly.
Hilarious about the aim assist bug.

Mute doesnt seem enabled on this. Just start a party and it turns off everyones mic.
Some kid was screaming that his teammates were crap earlier - in a pre-release build in a game that no one has played yet. What a goof.

No scoping is entirely RNG based on PC. Go into the drills, scope on on the face of the bots, uncsope and see how often the shot just goes around them.

As for the aim assist, that doesn't seem to be happening to me. There is the option for mouse magnetism but i can't even notice a difference in testing.

try pressing some buttons on the controller and then switching to kbm, that kept it active for me

sprint did break map design in Halo 5 but not here, they nerfed sprint so hard that it's not really even remotely an issue anymore IMO, I sometimes forget I'm not spiriting because the speed difference is so tiny.
clamber is the new enemy!

I bet it's bullet magnetism, PC games have done that in the past, many even. Max Payne, Build Engine games an stuff like that... that feels good to play while also giving you aim assist you don't even feel.
but I'm not sure atm. I haven't examined it enough

Played my first match on Live Wire(?). Went 17-11 with 8 assists.

Definitely have to get used to no Spartan Dash in this one. Active Camo seems to last a little bit too long. Same thing with Halo 5, but AR seems to make the game too easy, but there's some mastery with the pistol if you decide to go that route.

Clamber was always the enemy, just a different one lol.

Tried it using the controller, does the same thing. The bullets literally curve away from the reticle. Happens with all guns. Gunplay is very RNG based.

Finally got into the game. Spent a few hours last night unable to get in with the "your account isn't authorized" error. Woke up this morning and straight in. Here's to a day of pistol-whipping!

I play both PC/Console and I'm not about to listen to anyone saying controller is too OP lol. I'm usually decent with the sniper but I cannot hit shit against actual players. Meanwhile I watch PC players chain multiple headshots with it or laser me across the map with the sidekick.

thrust is an equipment but not publicly available. some found it when glitching into custom games

so I bascially fixed the bad analog stick aiming of the game by using Steam's controller config options. I emulated a mouse input on the right stick, and it feels way better + you get way faster turn speeds

here are my settings if anyone wants to try:

playing like this feels like playing Apex Legends in terms of aiming.
make sure your Y axis (vertical sensitivity) is about 60% to 70% of your X axis, that just feels better and is pretty much standard for analog aiming

I did a few tests like this using a DualSense controller (my Xbox controller had crazy drift for some reason no matter how high I set the deadzone... super weird... seems like a bug, like I literally had the deadzone up to half of the stick and it didn't really change the deadzone at all)
and it feels great... but you will not have aim assist this way, at least I didn't get any assist using this. I got 3 stars in the sniper weapons drill and 3 stars in the first Commando drill... no aim assist feels weird at first but it still works fine.

Is Slayer the only game mode available? Seems like that's all I'm getting in matchmaking...

I'll go ahead and say Halo 5 MP is better, but this is still classic Halo gameplay/MP at it's finest. Haven't really been disappointed in a Halo MP as is so I'm pleased with it.
