That thing was struggling all over the place.
I actually hold GOW and TLoU2 in high regard. The graphics dont need improvement. Just need more enemies and extra gameplay mechanics. I DO expect the game to be CLEAN and sharp. 4K 60fps no ziggies anywhere. But the most important thing.. the animations to be crazy.

But yeah, it's definitely evident that the game was made in a way it could run on a PS4, with bells and whistles added on top for PS5.
To me the last game and this one are more like Ocarina of Time to Majora's Mask. Same thing, now with expansion pak to buff it out! This is not a "Twilight Princess" grade evolution.
I think that is OK, but I find the pattern annoying after their "believe in generations" garbage. Talk about throwing away any credibility.

Looks like it should have been out last Christmas. Horizon 2 is a large leap over this graphically.

Weren't the first 3 original games the same as each other? GoW3 obviously has it's next gen difference to the PS2 games. But i seriously cringe when you guys think it's going to be more of the same. What difference in gameplay from the first game do you actually want?! That gameplay hasn't got old yet and is badly fun. There'll be a plethora of goodies in the sequel.

Some parts did look pretty much like the previous game (which means top tier for a PS4), some other ones instead look way better. It seems to be what I expected, a direct sequel that gets a ton of stuff from the previous one.
I predicted that Atreus was going to kill Kratos in the intro of the game, he'd go trans and would have a lesbian black girlfriend. We saw what seems to be the potential black girlfriend. And seems Atreus won't kill Kratos in the intro unless it's a misleading trailer like the Masters of the Universe one. Fingers crossed, after TLOU2 and the new Masters of the Universe show I'd enter in Spartan Rage mode if they kill Kratos and try to replace him with an uncharismatic woke protagonist.

Yes, it looks like a PS4 game. Because it is. Cross-gen games will never look properly next-gen (the possible exception being Horizon).

GoW3 looked a generation ahead of GoW2. GoW4 looked a generation ahead of GoW3. This looks like a PS4 game with some improvements.

Tell me what you expected them to do? Especially when they just already remade the whole game play system compared to GOW 1,2 & 3.
All the other God of War games had the same game play mechanics including ascension.
Why you looking for a drastic change so early? Especially since it's still fresh being only the second game using the engine.

I recently replayed GOW on PS5 and i can say without a doubt the Ragnorok looks leeps and bounds better. Go back and look at the PS4 version, most of you have become accustomed to this gen with games like Horizon, Ratchet and Clank and Demons Souls and are mis remembering how the older games look. This happens every gen.

I guess he is comparing with the God of War 2018 for base PS4. Looks indeed similar, besides probably the boost in resolution.
Even the models are the same. Freya for example, same of the same.

Same here. I was expecting a true next gen contender, and it has been more of the same. Kratos seems totally Ps4 and the boy face is, well, very weird. Lighting looks last gen.
I mean, as everyone says, I will buy it day one, but I was expecting something way better graphically. In fact, Horizon Forbidden West seems a bigger improve than God of War Ragnarok.

Are you guys talking about Forspoken? yeah the gameplay looked better than the cinematics in that game, the cinematics look like a PS4 game IMO, the gameplay looks better because the spell effects look good. God of war looks much better than the first one, I hope people are watching these trailers in 4K and not going by the 1080p footage from the original show.

Go back and rewatch or today the last gen game. I've seen people say they look the same, but they're not. Resolution, lighting, and textures have all taken a bump. Models no doubt got additional detail as well. It's not going to be night and day though. There's a point of diminishing returns without completely redesigning the characters.

I don't need to rewatch. I have the game here with me. There are a vast similarity in this game. Maybe what really gets me was the Atreus new VA, new variant of enemies.

You're talking about visuals. People are obviously talking about the whole package. The locations, the gameplay looking same-y. Ps4 games were looking phenomenal anyway. This is a cross gen title too right? So I mean.... not much we can do on that. But if i'm going to talk visuals, they look even better than 2018. We see this all the time. Game gets revealed, people nit pick, game comes out, surprisingly the game looks even better, everyone posts GIFS and beauty shots of the game. The game looks insanely good looking. Seriously cant ask for more.

The textures and lighting in the god of war trailer looked much better than the PS4 game which was already incredible looking. Yes it's cross-gen and it's not going to be taking full advantage of the console, no game does in the first 2 years but it still looks incredible.

There was no ambition in it. It was status quo. I thought it was a flashback to the PS4 game and then they'd flash-forward to the new/amazing GoW. Looks fine, but JC.

Probably can't break free of the fighting pit-sized-level modules either thanks to being cross gen.
That being said, GoW was a great game despite the limitations of the hardware it was running on.
Pretty sure Ragnarok will not fall short of that legacy.

I don't know if people are joking or they are blind by the " PS5 Power " thing.. God of War Ragnarok looks so great in every aspect in that trailer, you really need to erase the image of " if its not crossgen then GOW will be realistic ". its the same gameplay nothing will change, it wont change to hack and slash for a sudden!. Kratos beard won't go Lara Croft hair style for a sudden.

I think they all originally started as PS5 only, so that's not too surprising. I think the hardware shortages have played into the decision to make PS4 versions, as they don't need these games to help sell PS5s.
