Hideo Kojima and Microsoft have signed a letter of intent that states the two parties intend to work out the details on a publishing agreement for a new Xbox game, according to sources familiar with the matter. This is a key step in the negotiations between the Metal Gear Solid creator and the Xbox company. This signifies that both parties have agreed to a generalized deal while lawyers continue hashing out the finer points.

Want to be acquired by a company after making games for them for decades ? Go and see the competitor, make a great game for them. This is a great way to raise the interest of the initial company, when they see how much it hurts them not having you on board.

This is a pretty common practice. For example, Namco made Soul Calibur for Dreamcast while they really had no reason to move on a SEGA console. This without a doubt allowed them to negotiate better with Sony afterwards. You can see the exact same thing with Insomniac and Sunset Overdrive. Of course you want to secure a company that is going to release games like these.

Kojima might be doing the same thing with Xbox, who knows...

Jeff Grubb....lol.....months ago the deal was already done and the game in development. Now they signed a letter of intents and he knows the contents :messenger_grinning_sweat: no one else has talked about this.
The guy just wants attention.
Now I can understand if it came from that guy from Windows Central, that would be a bit more believable than yeah but even then nothing.

Clearly, Kojima is playing both sides (like damned fiddles) and using his DeepFake alias of Hasan Kahraman to stealthily navigate Fragile legality issues in a Quiet manner. He's historically something of a Snake of a businessman, so this isn't unprecedented. In the industry, we call this a "Tactical Espionage Action,"

No issue from my side whatsoever, I just hope he has been working on a new game after DS shipped, while this Xbox project will come after, cause I need that Kojima goodness and quick.

"Hey everyone, Neil here. I'm an insider and know for sure that Kojima has been working on a Snatcher remake with Harrison Ford doing the voice work. He has also been working on a Silent Hill game for the last five years. Both titles will be Series X exclusive and released this December!".

Actually, I wish I could be excited. I know I'm in the minority but I think his recent games have been self indulgent wank fests. Just because you have an idea for some crazy dialogue or character doesn't mean you should use ALL of it. He is in need of some " no" men to surround him, not pat him on the back for every wacky fucking idea that he dreams up.

Something tells me he will deeply regret this. Just like happened with Insomniac in regards to Sunset Overdrive exclusivity.

If he gets blank checks to fullfill his dream game ideas then what does he care on which platform it is. He is independent, can jump between sony and MS.

Ah yes the "it's happening but it may actually not happen" kind of rumormongering. 😂

That way if it doesn't happen, they can claim they weren't wrong anyway. 😂

Just take Geoff hostage. Will force Kojima to sign exclusivity deal immediately. Once you break Sony's puppet the domino's will fall for the 40 hour death stranding game.. I mean movie.. whatever it is.

If the game ends up being a commercial flop like Sunset Overdrive was, I don't think he'll be very happy. And he is in a position where he has to kind of play it safe right now, because Death Stranding wasn't exactly a blockbuster and it must have cost a shit ton to make.

I personally loved DS, as did many others, but in terms of financial performance Kojima still needs to prove he isn't a one trick puppy.
