Sony is apparently in talks to buy Arc System Works

Okay now we're talking, Sony has astro team and podi aka the best racing games studio, but still lacks heavily in Japenese devs departement so it's good thing if this rumours is true.

I cry about Xbox and hate PlayStation.
I dont play fighting games, better than nth i guess.|

Arc system does look like an incredible developer if they had more funds.

Microsoft were rumoured to have purchased netherealm, so could see this happening. Especially as Sony now own Evo and it would be hilarious if the two biggest games there were owned by Nintendo and Microsoft.
tbh, microsoft was rumored to purchase other studios as well lol, including Sega.

Would be a great buy, but dont they only release their games on pc and ps anyway? Maybe Sony has some awesome plans for a fighting franchise.
The last Guilty Gear game to land on Xbox was on the Xbox 360 so yes pretty much

I'd like to see what Sony and Arc could do with a big budget fighting game

If this rumor is true

Would make sense I suppose. Starting with teh PS4 fighting games were of major interest to Sony and they certainly seem to be expanding that with recent moves.
Some great games from that publisher and I know it' not the most important thing but their 3D cell shading engine that's used in the Guilty Gear is absolutely unmatched and I would be very happy to see it being used in other games.
I really miss 2D games but this really is a game engine that allows 3D graphics to look absolutely incredible.

Wait, when did Dealer become an insider?
We are hungry for Sony news, we will accept any rumors Sony related.

Is this guy ever leaked anything accurate?

Was really hoping arc system works would come to their senses and give Xbox another try as DBFZ has put them on the map for many.

Plus Strive has sold better than every prior guilty gear title already.

Especially as I've enjoyed arc system works titles since the original Xbox and guilty gear:reload.

(they released bbtag and bbcf on switch what are deader and have less people on the leader boards than bbcp:extend on Xbox one, but switches biggest issue is, you have a friend online on blazblue, you can't even invite them, or ask them if they want to play, please add basic social features Nintendo)

And my hands don't like the squishy dualsense buttons at all, found it very difficult to IAD consistently on xrd 2 rev.

If Sony do acquire arc, I hope it doesn't prevent day one releases on pc, as that would suck.

AAAARGGHHHH WHY?!? :messenger_pouting:

Why are we cheering on buyouts WHY?

Screw "teams" people, this isn't good for gaming...

I understand there are pros to being purchased by a big studio, but imo they are vastly outweighed by cons...

Insomniac and Naughty Dog made sense, Bungie made sense, if the studio is buying to invest/had partnerships, was practically already exclusive then sure...

But why are SO MANY OF YOU happy to see a independent studio lose that independence?!?

Never played any of their games. I was never a fan of 2D Street Fighter-style fighting games. I was always a Tekken guy.

So if it's true i can't say i care either way.

Sounds fake, they are incredible talented, but I can’t see current Sony buying a fighting anime studio
If anything it makes a lot of sense

For some reason they've been very obsessed with the fighting game scene. Locking up SF5 last gen, recently acquiring the Evo tournament

I don't know how this acquisition makes much sense, but I do say I'd like Arc System Works to work with a decent budget, I can't imagine those anime fighters make much money. But then again, what would they be doing? A decent go at a Playstation All Stars, anime version? Actually, that wouldn't be too bad of an idea. At least that's much better than:

"Mankind knew that they cannot change society, so instead of reflecting on themselves, they blamed the beasts. HEAVEN OR HELL! SOL BAD GUY VS MILLIA RAGE". - Who writes this? Why? Do they just pick random phrases in English that they think sound cool and just mush them together? Then the screen when fighting, it's all busy and messy. They need a budget and someone to teach them restraint.

Exactly, warring that's why. Look at all the people who have a boner about the Bethesda acquisition, they didn't gain or lose anything but they still have a boner because wars. To be fair Arc Systems only released their games on Playstation and PC so they are no different to your example of Bungie. I bet Sony are preparing the PS Premium subs. All their moves seem to point to it.

There was never a war in this case. They’ll just pick a fight with PC gamers now instead.

Umm, I don’t think that fighting games are that popular. If this is true, I see Sony closing the studio in the near future.

Would be pointless. They don't release their games on Xbox already.
I do not think they buy developers to remove them from the competition. I think Sony is more likely to buy developers they worked a long time with and that have a good team / values / work ethic fit with the existing WWS stable.

I do not think you will see many studio purchases of multiplatform studios to ensure the competition gets less games or for the heck of it/IP’s.

Have you never played a Japanese game or watched an anime before?

Sony needs more Japanese studios so this will only be a W if true. Of course Steam will still get the games too, literally nothing changes.

Oh, luckily the source is Dealer, and not one of those insane console warriors that only talk to misdirect people in the gaming community and to galvanize their rabid fanbase. You know, one of those guys that could not sound any more like a paid shill if they tried, and no sane person should ever pay attention to in regards to anything.

I never got into the GG series, because I suck at it.

That said, I'd love to see them make a beat em up with the GG graphics style. Like Streets of Rage/TMNT, but with insane-looking visuals, and fighter-style controls. That would be pretty sick.

If Sony was into buying multiplatform devs just to keep IPs away ftom Xbox, it would indeed be pointless.

You don't aquire studios just to take away games from another platform...
Yeaaaaahhhhh, riiiiiight.

You guys are so cute !

Only most rabid part of communities come to this conclusion... It's because of their feelings focusing them on the loss for them. Remove that and they could see the business reasons.
And this works for MS too.
