141 million gamers played Ubisoft games last year (2020).

Just said on their prestream, where they are showing stats for 2020.

Now they have their subscription service, so its not 141mil sales, but its probably 130mil+ minus subs.

Makes you wonder why they are intent on changing how they make games going forward, although i'd still exprect the big franchises like Assassins Creed to stay as they are.

Their IPs are massive, whether someone likes it or not. AC, FC, WD, R6, Division,TrackMania, Brawhalla and so on, those numbers don't surprise me at all.

Tens of millions of those are likely in one game with a AAA budget but they support it and treat it like a free-to-play game in terms of support support it as a GaaS game. Since they are still expanding on games like Brawhalla, The Crew 2, For Honor, etc. there's probably still significant paying player baes for those games.. I didn't hear the quote fully, but subtract ubisioft subs, Microsoft subs and subtract games sold previously years. 2020 stats doesn't necessarily mean it only includes games only released in 2020.

Yep, I like R6: Siege.

And I'm also interested in the discovery tour for Valhalla. That feature is the greatest thing they have ever done in AC games.

One of my fave games of last year. In fact Ubisoft made most of my fave games from last year lol.
Honestly dont get the hate with them.

Most of the hate comes from too much potential and usually served undercooked. Sadly, that's their reality in all their games. But they take risks like no other 3rd party and bring many new flavors to gaming.

Ubisoft makes great games and the numbers prove it. This hate hard on people have for the company is "Would not bang, knees too sharp." levels of cringe. Get over yourselves, the games are good and TONS of people like them. If you refuse to play the Mario Kingdom battle games, the division, farcry, ass creed etc because lol ubisoft...good, you win, you're a REAL gamer. Now tell the class what games, and company, are SO much better. I love games and would like to know.

Big numbers doesn't prove the quality of something. AT. ALL.
I won't detail here because I'm lazy but you can do some research on that. It has to do with marketing, ads, sponsoring etc...

I plan to pick that up now that all the DLC is out(I think) it looks fantastic.

Just have to pick the platform.
It’s really great, they took all the good ideas from BotW, improved some aspects (made flying more fun in particular), kept the Ubisoft progression style but did not litter the map with hundreds of activities like in AC so everything you do feels useful. The writing was surprisingly good, the game looks great and runs at 60 FPS on next gen.

With a bit more enemy and weapon variety it would be practically flawless.

Hell, EA has a better line-up on average than Ubisoft. Especially if you’re into sports

You’re acting as if their games are great. They are average at best. Every once in a while they release something amazing, but their reputation is well deserved.

The fast food chain of the gaming industry.

This is a pretty accurate description.

I see their open world games like comfort food. Nice to play from time to time when you're in the mood but frequent consumption will make you feel terrible and jaded.

People love to bitch and moan about Ubisoft and i used to be one of them, the fact of the matter is Ubisoft is THE best AAA developer and puplisher in the world right now.

I'm happy i came to love Ubi again, they were among my favorites since the release of Prince of Persia and SC back in the early 2000s.

That's a pretty impressive set of numbers. I'm still enjoying The Division 2, and they released some good games in the last year, so I can see why.

I'm one of them unfortunately. They have the Wheel of Fortune license, outsourced the PS4 game to China and it's the buggiest piece of shit ever made.

nothing they have has matched the blandness of fallen order so they aren't the worst. I mean it's modern gaming so most of it is awful, the bar for ubisoft to clear to make adequate games by comparison is very low.

I was going to say "and I'm not one of them".
Then I realized that I've definitely played Steep (that I got with PS+ ages ago) some time in the last year.

I played through AC:Odyssey and a little bit of Watch Dogs 2 last year. Their games are all over the place, and often on sale. I am not surprised by these numbers at all.
