That's true but to me, shooters can feel very different depending on movements, weapons, speed, etc.
I don't want to offend anyone, I just tried Bloodborne so far and when I look at videos, they all look mechanically the same just with different skins. I do wanna be hyped by those games as well but I just can't
To be fair, Bloodborne has the most limiting gameplay, as far as variety in my opinion. I’ve said it before, but From Software has steadily been moving to more action based gameplay. It’s why I like the earlier entries better. In Dark Souls, dodging is an option, but you also have a shield, ranged weapons, spells, projectiles, and a huge variety of all of them.
Bloodborne uses a transforming mechanic for its weapons, but there’s only a handful of them, and the regain mechanic encourages the player to be aggressive and continue attacking, where Dark souls encourages you to take your environment into consideration, plan your attack, and learn your opponents patterns to find opportunities to attack.
It might be that the souls games are not for you, but if variety is the issue, Bloodborne might not be the best place to start.
lastly the setting is important. I like my castles, dungeons, knights and stuff. On topic, Elden Ring looks darker, more horrific than I was hoping for. They have such a hardon for a decaying world, everything looks like it’s dying, and I’m kind of bummed out about that.
