Deep Impact was more interesting in its depiction of how people on earth would react in such a situation, which is the core of good scifi IMO. Also it seemed more believable in general than "land a bunch of oil drillers on a space rock".
Armageddon is still funny for going all in in the craziness.

it’s deep impact for me. Both were horrifically executed, but deep impact had better bones.
Every once and a while Hollywood spits out foil movies. I really want a documentary on what appear to be a battle between two studios over a screen play. One loses and says “fuck it, I’ll just steal the premise”

Armageddon is cheese, but peak, well crafted cheese. It's not a good movie, but in a hypothetical one or the other scenario, Armageddon wins hands down every time.
That song still gets radio plays after all this time.

Deep Impact is far better even if the movie feels like it should've been shorter to avoid some filler scenes & plots. The anticipation and the aftermath of the first impact are superb. I like to rewatch it once every few years, can't do the same with Armageddon as I find it too silly.

Deep impacts CG is impressive for 1998.Deep Impact is decent but Armageddon is more fun to watch. Deep Impact's CGI has also aged quite noticeably IMO while Armageddon still looks damn good.
It still looks better then the turd that was independence day 2.

Just watched deep impact with my daughter, the beach scene made her cry. She really liked it, but not as much as her favourite film The Meg.
Interesting factoid of the day: Aerosmith refused "Don't Want To Miss A Thing" and only recorded it because Liv Tyler made her dad do it.

But you've posted a largely practical effect (the explosion) touched up by some digital compositing and very light CGI.
Armageddon has more than its fair share of not-so-well-aged VFX.

God liv tyler was so hot back in 98. But to answer op, i prefer armageddon. Deep impact provides an interesting look at how society as a whole would handle an extinction level event, while armageddon is more exciting to watch personally

No. Not as good as Deep Impact, and not as fun as Armageddon. It's a solid movie, but probably falls behind the 2 titular titles in my book.

God damn just watching that gives me chills. That was Michael Bay at his absolute best, before all of it went to his head. The lighting, editing, framing, everything just works. It's fun, emotional, beautiful, and crazy. Its pop art at is best. Yeah its not deep, but its true entertainment. Its like a really damn good Pop song.

One was a good action flick with production value, and even a thought out soundtrack to milk the most money, the other was a porn script staring tea leoni that turned into a normal movie without the porn scenes. It’s an admirable feat on its own right, but nowhere close to as good as Armageddon

The movie has several good impact scenes, but the story is trash and even Gerald Butler and Morena Baccarin as leads can't save it. The whole plot about
wanting to smuggle in their sick kid and then have him stolen(!!)
