It's not his fault that games that games that were on track for a release during PS5's launch window or the first year suddenly got caught in the shitstorm of Covid.

And by the way, that quote of Jim saying that PS5 had the strongest launch lineup in the history of the brand... was true: Demon's Souls, Miles Morales, Sackboy and Astro's Playroom. So I don't know what to tell you other than you should at least try to use your fucking brain when you are criticizing something or talking shit about someone.
1. Remake of old game, albeit a great one
2. Standalone DLC like game, cross gen.
3. Decent platformer, cross gen
4. Amazing free system add-on

I give it 2/4 for truly great experiences. Miles was a good experience but too short and clearly a DLC turned standalone project mid development, Sackboy is a fun albeit outdated form of platformer.

The PS5 launch wasn't as barren as Xbox and their output has been the best out of all the companies in gaming, but that was expected from Sony, and now it seems without those games they had ready for launch they're running out of steam and are having to delay games. Horizon II will likely be another casualty after GT7 as will GOW Ragnarok and FF 16, so it has went from a phenomenal year to a luke warm year at least till Q3/4, I know it isn't all Jim's fault, just sick of the lack of communication from Sony on these areas.

Ratchet is the game that can make all this feel okay, as that looks genuinely next gen, they have fucked over Returnal though and I bet you it will sale pretty poorly compared to other Sony first party titles.

Are we still pretending Ratchet is some big game we care about and not something your 5 year old cousin gets to play when he comes over ? And lol returnal. The only 2 games that mattered in may were Deathloop and Resident Evil. And only Deathloop was actually trying to be interesting. RE, while probably a fine game, its pushing the same survival horror conventions for 25 years now. Its a known quantity
Strange i think the same for modern halo, grounded e microsoft shooter, games for children that don't require use of brain. Rachet is big game save for xbox man-children.

Why do developers and publishers keep blatantly lying about release dates? Probably to siphon some pre orders i imagine. No need to give a date unless you are 100 percent sure you can hit it. This fucking sucks. Im glad they havent given a release date for horizon 2 yet, and i hope they dont until 2 months before its out, because going from this game is a month away to now this game is five fucking months away is a load of fucking horse shit and im sick of it.

I’m guessing most of you are too young to remember that save for 1 or 2 initial great games, the 1st year of any release schedule for a new console has generally been terrible. The PS5 games currently available, whether cross-gen with PS4 or not, are genuinely great + the fact that a lot of the PS4 games have been upgraded, so the catalogue of playable games on the PS5 (and the series x/s) is incredible. The only problem at the minute is trying to get hold of one of the new consoles, never mind the games haha

are you an autist?
Is this really what you gonna come up with after you've been proven wrong. Come on dude, you're better than that right? Usually people who respond back with a straight up insult instead of admitting that their information was incorrect are kind of sus. I don't know man, according to you April 30th and June 11th is next month (Which is May) and we are getting 2 exclusives in May, this is literally what you basically said.

All this doom posting when Sony is dropping two exclusives in the next month

Meanwhile, Microsoft won’t have a next gen game until 2022...but hey, some cross gen game you don’t care about is now day 1 on GamePass

I don't think I am the autist here, but hey you do you baby cakes.

why are they announcing these early ass dates? It almost never works out and all it does is lead to frustration for consumers and the developers as well. How much frustration could be saved if they didnt even announce the games or the dates until they were 100 percent sure they could hit that? This is a huge delay, we were a month out from this and now its five months away, this is cyberpunk levels of poor communication. That september date should have been announced at the first fucking delay.

I just got Outriders for free, and will be getting another release day title for free in two weeks. Going pretty good
Last time I checked game pass was a paid subscription service, I don't see how you got it for free.

Smart decision. May is packed. Deathloop is PS5 only which means that the user install base is minimal and the percentage of that user install base buying Deathloop is even less so. Plus, it still releases a few weeks before the Battlefield 6/COD 2021/Halo Infinite onslaught.
Its actually a bad decision imo, people are desperate for PS5 games right now and besides Outriders, no big shooter is coming out in the next few months so releasing it on the original date would have actually given the game a chance to build a player base. Once those other shooters come out it might be a wrap for this game unless it turns out to be amazing.

you’re arguing over something trivial

the intent of my post was “starting with returnal in the course of a month or so we’ll have 2 next gen exclusives”

but continue to sperg out over exact details to prove me wrong, baby girl

Your not wrong about microsoft, a bold move to ship your next gen console without any next gen games for months.

Two exclusives is pretty cool.
Unfortunately, it doesn't negate everything else.

id like to understand the mentality of someone getting butthurt just because a game comes to GamePass

if you’re a PS5 only gamer, it doesn’t affect you.

if you own a PS5 and an XSX and have GamePass, you get the title with the service

It’s hardly some doomsday event that warrants massive criticism for the platform

I’ll start caring if Jim Ryan starts rushing out bad projects. If the games in development end up great it’s all that really matters

Yes I am well aware of what you meant by that. But my point is that, most people will be taking your statement literal because that's how majority of the sheep is on the interwebs and most people don't have a brain to think for themselves and are always spoon fed bullshit because it's so easy to manipulate everyone and everything.

This is why I simply suggest you might want to be more factual. If that is the point you wanted to make across to everyone else, then you need to explain how the release dates are almost a month or more in between. Your statement read as Next month we are getting 2 exclusives which means 2 exclusives in the Month of May which is completely not true and just false info no matter how you put it. There are physically no games in the month of May that are exclusive for the PlayStation 5.

I for example was kind of confused at first and I got the impression that you were either misinformed yourself, or wasn't aware of the proper release dates or simply made a mistake. When I asked you, what exactly did you mean or made my point, you said it's about a month difference between Returnal and Ratchet and Clank.

I am not sure if a month and 2 weeks is trivial, a lot can happen in a person's life within 2 weeks extra weeks. If the release date was April 30th and June 1st then yeah you can say about a Month all you want, but 42 days man is not about a month, that's def more than a month and almost a half. Most people won't trying to be understand what your "intent" is or trying to be, they will just read it as you put it. There is no emotions here or a face to look at, all text, so people will take it at face value.

Either way, I just find it funny how people will over-exaggerate dates and throw out misinformation just too sound credible or be seen as a reliable source of info. I am done with this conversation as I am sure you already understood the point I was trying to make.

Look man I personally don't have any issues with how or what you say, I was simply making an observation on how your message was perceived to me. If anything, I am only saying this to make you a better poster. If you actually think this sperging out then I am assuming you never been to ResetEra lol.

Making movies is hard yet you don’t see this kind of mess you see in the game industry.

I work in the film industry you absolutely see this kind of mess all the time. Especially internally. We miss deadlines all the time.

And making games is even harder. Because when you finish a movie that's the end of it.
it doesn't need optimization. It's not going to crash a system. It doesn't have random bugs. It's doesn't need to get patched a month after release. It's a passive experience you don't have people interacting and breaking the product.

And it's just 2 hours instead of 50

So at the end of the day it's easier to predict when you are going to actually finish the product. And still films get delayed all the time. Also we crunch like crazy. Jason help us!

Good question. Maybe they shouldn't announce those dates so early.

Sometimes they do it because they need to build hype. Build an audience. Sometimes they actually need preorders. You know, Money.
Sometimes you need to actually set a date in stone so the team can see the light at the end of the tunnel as a motivation but also as a way of saying ok guys this is it. There is a saying that goes something like "without a deadline we would've never had finished"

But yes. It does lead to frustration

I'm ok with the delay. I've had ups and downs about this game. At first I thought it was intriguing and I love arcane. They I lost interest in it, but then I spent some time watching a few videos and I find the concept really cool and am looking forward to it. Arkane hasn't let me down yet. I'm glad it got de cause there's a few games coming out in the next couple of months I'm looking forward to and I would of probably past on took later but now they are higher up in the but list

Agree... But in terms of God of War..... I don't believe that's ever going to release 2021, and it was only announced to scoop up PS5 preorders

It's meant to be releasing this year and not one video or screenshot has come out.

So that's how you look at games, huh? Any normal person would look at the PS5 lineup as what it was: four highly-rated first-party releases from some of PlayStation most acclaimed/successful IPs (Demon's Souls, Spider-Man, LittleBigPlanet and Astro).

Funny how you try to downplay Demon's Souls by calling it "a remake of an old game" when two of the most succesful and beloved games of the last two years were the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7.

The remake and Astro were the only two great experiences in my eyes so I ain't downplaying them, just calling them what they are. Re2 and FF7 are two amazing titles, I am a staunch defender of FF7 Remake and have said to people how good Demon's Souls PS5 was despite it being a remake, me just using the correct term for what it is isn't me insulting the games, just using the correct terms for what they are.

Any truly normal person can allow people to have differing opinions without insulting them and using expletives like you have used so far with me.

Difference is thought is that Resident Evil 2 and FF 7 are actually really old games to begin with. Demon's Souls is 2008 if I am not mistaken and is not really that old compared to RE 2 and FF7 which was in 1997.

I haven't played Spider-Man (simply cause I am just not into the character/comics) Astro is phenomenal but sadly not a full fledge title that I actually think deserves to have a full fledged title somewhere down the line. Spider-man is Cross gen and LBP is a very casual family friendly platform that is not really going to be moving systems and its only popular among a certain niche crowd and is not a franchise for everyone.

Demon's Souls was really the only game that somewhat showed the capabilities of the PS5, but the issue with that game is indeed that it's a remake based on a very out-dated level design. Did it look great? Absolutely! Is it really next-gen? No. And this is coming from a big souls games fanboy. I finished it and loved every moment and I just can't call it a full fledge next-gen game.

It's just a really really pretty looking version of an older looking game on steroids that doesn't do anything new whatsoever and that's fine because that's what the game was set out to do in the first place. It was developed for the fans and used as an excuse to move some launch units of the PS5. Regardless, PS5 was gonna sell anyway, simply because its PS5 and people like to buy shiny new toys.

True next-gen games won't be coming out for a while for both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X. As a matter of fact the 1st true next-gen game that came out for the PS4 in my opinion was Bloodborne and followed by Horizon and then God of War and of course ending with TLOU 2. Still don't understand how that game runs on the piece of shit outdated hardware that is the PlayStation 4. Absolute wizards.

Next-Gen doesn't start until Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, Guerilla Games, Playground Games and The Coalition say so. These are some of the best wizards in the industry when it comes to visuals and pulling off some insane tricks.

MS is basically making Sony it's bitch. Make them wait.

...Meanwhile, with MLB, PlayStation Studios has launched more new games on Xbox this year than Xbox Game Studios.

This has been one hell of a launch cycle, hopefully we'll never see anything so dizzying and frustrating like this in future launches ever again.

No one has to be butthurt, but it is a loss on Sony's part. That's my only point with that.

Yeah, sorry for treating you like that, you seem to be a pretty reasonable guy to have a discussion with. It's just kind of frustrating to see how nowadays every Sony-related thread quickly derails into pages of people complaining about Jim Ryan's management, so that's why I responded to you in an aggressive tone and I apologize for that.

I can’t be the only cretin to think this whole damn new gen should just have been postponed a year at least. I mean, those older machine still had some fuel in them, we didn’t get anything that can be considered ‘’essential’’ in gaming with the new gen, and every day we seem to get a new delay (except Capcom, because they’ve been making games from the goddamn moon since way before covid broke out)

I say we return everything and just ask for a retcon 🙂

At the pace MS releases games I think this one will slip to late 2022. And that’s only because it was 80% done before the acquisition.

Even outside of this there are plenty of opportunities to build points and at a quick pace. Every week there is a free “weekly treasure” that gives you points and “bonus rounds” worth a lot as well. You can also earn points everyday from achievements, purchasing any newly released games/DLC, renting movies, etc. If you keep up with their weekly rewards set you can build your points substantially every few weeks. It all adds up. I’m almost ready to redeem three months of GamePass Ultimate but might just keep saving the points.

This is good news for Sony.

There's no reason to release high profile exclusives when customers can't get their hands on PlayStation 5s.

You want to release bangers when demand slows.

It's okay mate, things are heated everywhere atm and I could've and should've handled myself better with my wrongful jabs at Jim. Just this is a game I have been really looking forward to and I let emotions get the best of me seeing it delayed at the eleventh hour, it is something that is happening due to COVID as we all know and this won't be the last game to be delayed but I wanted it to be something more than that and looked for someone to blame.

Outside of his pricing for Returnal, which I actually don't agree with, I think he has done nothing majorly wrong, just was me taking my anger out rather immaturely with this news so I apologise not only to you but to Zoro7 Zoro7 for painting myself in a bad light and coming off as some angsty troll which I can assure you both I am not.

Hope you and your loved ones are all doing well and continue to do so.

Ohh shit.

I didnt even think about that.
If Deathloop is day and date Gamepass thats super fucked up for PS fans of the game.
If Sony was smart, they blocked and Game pass shenanigans when they came up with the contract.

Would be funny if MS then went around and offered it to EA play as a workaround.

You think it won't be in some form? Heck do we even know the exclusivity deal pertaining to this game? Even after MS bought the developers?
