Can understand that. But to me it was my 2019 GOTY. Also if you get to know the mechanics and build roads with the help of others, clear out all the BT-infested areas it becomes pretty easy and you don't need to worry about them as killing them with blood grenades, blood-based weapons or cutting their cords in a later date makes them permanently disappear, which seems no one is talking about as they never respawn.
PS: Used to drive around with a fully-loaded truck with blood grenades and act like pest control.

Most of the time during my last 20 hours with the game I kept yelling "what am I doing with my life??" and then kept playing on and on. "just one more delivery" which turned into 5 hour sessions. It really is one of the most unique shit I've played these past few years, can't believe I put 50 hours into it and kept playing well after the credits rolled. I didn't ever care for Kojima games before this.

I put more like 110+ hours and still some work to do. I'm waiting for the PS5 patch to go back and finish the few deliveries remaining. Built some serious infrastructure for deliveries like zip lines, completed all the roads, cleared the vast majority of BT areas (found one that is extremely creepy in one place that made me shook! Use blood bombs to stay hidden).

Probably. It uses the Decima engine which is an in-house Sony game engine made by Guerrilla Games.

I think he'll make another big game on that very engine for PS5/PC. Can't see him ditching it so quickly after all the fine tunes he made to suit his needs.

I wasn’t specifically calling out just Xbox fans tbh - I recall DS threads being full of derision for Kojima, so surprised at the sudden excitement for another one of his games, regardless if it is an Xbox exclusive or not. In truth, this is just another pissing contest.

Heh, that would be interesting, but what I wonder about is we all know how MGS5 sold on the PS4 vs the XBOX One. I would be surprised if Hideo did something like that again, but we’ll see what happens.

I hope they're doing this because they're after Western gamers who want Japanese games, because it's not gonna help them in Japan at all.

There aren't many good Japanese developers these days, and nobody in Japan buys consoles. Yeah, so crucial.
This would still be a cool PR win for them, but the real powerhouse of gaming now is America, and they already have a huge slate of US developers and a virtual monopoly over the western RPG, perhaps the biggest single player genre nowadays.
Compared to that, Kojima is small beer.

Whatever it is I hope it has more interesting gameplay than Death Stranding. MGS was story heavy but always had good stealth gameplay you could enjoy replaying while skipping all the cutscenes if you wanted.

The thing is Microsoft has another source of Revenue stream that could fund triple A games for Microsoft's platform like Xbox Game Pass, unlike Sony that relies on software sales.

It's very likely going to be that episodic horror cloud game that he was in talks with Stadia over. He seemed like he was pretty far into pre-production so he was never going to scrap it and move on, especially considering he said he was "pissed" the agreement fell-through.
IF (big if) that's the case then I don't see how this is an issue for Sony since this game was always going to be on another platform. However if this is a new/non-episodic non-cloud game then yeah it's a big blow for Sony and great get for MS.
I personally hope it's this latter one because the more good games MS has the more appealing/competitive/diverse the hobby is.

Interesting take. You can play more metal gear solid games on xbox series s/x than you can on ps4 and ps5......Suddenly, Xbox gamers claim they always loved the MGS games and never called them interactive movies before.
Not really, the 360 wasn't about waiting and waiting and future promises. The xbox one gen was abysmal and everyone was saying Phil is preparing Ninja Theory, The Initiative and all the other acquisitions for next gen launch for Xbox Series X but we still have literally nothing almost 6 months in.
Rumours and chest beating wasn't what 360 was about. It was about things like Oblivion, Mass effect, Bioshock, Gears of war 1. Not just some war news to get fanboys riled up while there is little to show for it.
