How is Dragon's Dogma not an open world game?
It’s not the open world part of that claim that refers to Dragon’s Dogma.

Well it's easy to say that Sony makes the best open world games if you deny other games as being open world. So now we call open world to anything that isn't hallways? That's not "open world". Open world is the ability to visit the world in any way you want without being bound to the story. Have you even played an open world game?
Examples of open world would be any GTA, Batman Arkham Knight, Driver, Breath of the Wild. I definitely wouldn't call fallout or Horizon open world games.
Fallout and Horizon aren’t open world games? What??? They are by definition open worldSo now we call open world to anything that isn't hallways? That's not "open world". What many people forget is that Sony spends abslutely insane amounts of money for advertising their big AAA games worldwide with tv spots, radio, internet ads, paid articles, billboards, their Sony truck and so on. Because of that sales numbers of those higly advertised games are not necessarily an indicator for quality.Horizon is a critical and commercial success.
calling out people like you with bone headed unmerited comparison with Call of Duty... but your comparison just exposes your retarded narrative ...
Insults ? I am not afraid to call out people like you, I only post/comment about games/products I have played and finished.
I bet the success of all the SONY's published IP is killing you inside.
That doesn’t guarantee anything. Horizon is a great game what in the hell am I reading in this thread. It’s simple - Horizon is great. RDR 2 is great. Fallout is open world. Rockstar are the leaders in innovating on open world games (and maybe Nintendo with BOTW). There are some seriously bewildering takes going onWhat many people forget is that Sony spends abslutely insane amounts of money for advertising their big AAA games worldwide with tv spots, radio, internet ads, paid articles, billboards, their Sony truck and so on. The only thing better in days gone are the more arcadey controls and having the ordes and more freedom during the missions (not the story heavy scripted ones tho) and maybe a better real time weather system, rdr2 beat the shit out of dg for all the remaining aspects, don't get your hopes too high.Graphics?, nah. Not PC RDR2 anyway. I hope you are right about everything else though as i'm looking forward to the game.
Think about it. Can I go to any part of the world right from the start or do I have to follow linear stuff first?
Same goes for Fallout.
That guarantees a lot, otherwise they wouldn't spend shitloads of money for it. With enough marketing you can sell everything no matter how shitty it is. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying Horizon is a bad game, but there is no doubt sales would be much less if Sony would have marketed it like let's say Dreams. That doesn’t guarantee anything. Well then you must not work in game design then. Because if they wanted to change it they could. So by definition it is a choice. They chose to make it that way. Could they make it twitchy as hell like Witcher 3 or assassins creed where you can unrealistically turn on a dime, I bet you all the money in the world they could of. And I’m sure internally they had a lot of discussions on if it was appropriate to way they wanted the final game to be represented. So yeah maybe you don’t like it but in the end you are wrong.Unresponsive controls are not a game design choice.
I’m a Sony fanboy I absolutely love them but I know BS when I see it. Anybody who thinks their the king of open world games are drinking way too much of that kool aid or only playing Sony 1st party gamesThis thread should be renamed to "The Sony fanboy thread", my god
Turning the thread toIs it fair to say Sony is leading the industry
when it comes to open worlds?
Turning the thread to
Something else lol no they ain’t the best at open world
Top 3 would beIf they are not leading, then they're at the very top 3 which is not bad. To me I prefer their open world over the rest because they're always story-dense and mature, solid animation, impressive gameplay. RDR2 has a laughable story, insultingly easy difficulty, and tedious chores that have zero rewards in game. GTA? The 18+ game that only kids love.
Coarse you prefer Sony game over others games it’s you. Witcher 3 , assassins creed, GTA , watchdogs all better than what Sony has created open world wise. That’s not to say they produced bad games it’s just there are better out there. Spider-Man is amazing open world game btwIf they are not leading, then they're at the very top 3 which is not bad. Top 3 would be
1. Rockstar
2 Ubisoft
3.Nintendo... yes Nintendo. Sony doesn't have any open world better than breath of the wild or xenoblade.
Maybe top 5

We’re am I offended?Well, it all depends on what type of games you prefer. I personally find Rockstar as a shit open-world producer right now. GTA5 is shit and RDR2 as well, RDR1 was phenomenal and GTA4 had amazing story. I love Ubisoft open-world games as well. Nintendo? Those with all due respect are a bit more childish games to my liking. It's ok to have different tastes, you know.
GTA4 was amazing to me although gameplay is shit as always, I love AC, also I love watchdogs, and indeed Witcher 3 as well. But preferring Sony games more than those doesn't automatically means everything else is shit. Also you maybe need to learn that I'm not you, and you're not me, which is ok. Don't be offended by my preference.
I can go to wherever I want in BotW right from the beginning. I can even go and fight the last boss. Horizon is not an open world game, just accept it. It's a mediocre game with nothing to do in its so called "open world". You cant access 90% of the map. First you have to play like 10 hours, to gain access to another portion, then you have to play another 10 hours, and so on. That's not open world at all. That's just a big world but in reality you know you have to go through the story or else you won't see the rest of the map.Lmao what BS is this? So Breath of the Wild is not open world either? Tell me, how do you get off the plateau without doing any linear stuff first?
With takes these bad I guess you're in production for the new Tommy Wisseau movie?
I think you got it backwards. I'm saying Sony doesn't even develop open world games. Just games with huge worlds where you have nothing to do but to go through the main story.Well it's easy to say that Sony makes the best open world games if you deny other games as being open world.
Thank you. It's just an empty field. I don't get how can anyone could call that an open world. You cant do anything on it but to keep going through the main story. You cant even visit the world until the very end of the game.Horizon is an open world where they literally just put stuff wherever. This is the ice bit, this is the desert bit, this is green bit. All with a few miles.
It's a game I eally enjoyed once I was able to just go with it but it is not a great example of an open world. One of the worst.
It’s factually an open world dude I don’t know what to tell you. This is not an opinion thing - it’s an open world. FF7R is not - Horizon is. It’s just facts man this thesis is preposterous. You may not like it or how it was done but it is still an open world game. Weird hill to die on hereThank you. It's just an empty field. I don't get how can anyone could call that an open world. Call it open world if you want, but if you do then you'll have to realize it is the worst "open world" game ever released. It’s factually an open world dude I don’t know what to tell you. I just think your choice is biased based on your love of Sony. Like I said they produce some awesome games but the open world games are not at the level of what others produce at the moment
See open world is about doing things other than story otherwise why would you need to have a vast open world? Not sure what are you saying there. If you are talking about open worlds with things to do I would agree, but overall they use the open world to serve their storytelling with no searching for lost cats quests. Days Gone was wonderful, perfection all around from storytelling to open world. Also zombies are real and you can really clear open areas from zombies instead of cheap respawning in nearly all open worlds, reminds me of Death Stranding and when you clean areas from PT's.
I love Sony for a reason, or let's see overwhelming reasons. Biased? Nope, I play plenty of other games as well but the difference in production quality is simply staggering.
See open world is about doing things other than story otherwise why would you need to have a vast open world?
mid it’s just about story and that’s it then it doesn’t need to be open world as such. Assassins creed games have so much to do in them and story is mostly great on them all. The latest you can clock 160 hours and still not see everything.
I can go to wherever I want in BotW right from the beginning. I can even go and fight the last boss. Horizon is not an open world game, just accept it. Like I said,. If Horizon is open world then FFVIII Remake is too.
I finished every bit of AC Valhalla at 162 hours. Had a blast in most of it but the lack of quality control is very obvious there and they execute epic climaxes in a very underwhelming way. I give it a 9/10 and I'm a big fan of AC series.
I can say that Days Gone is the most realized open-world from Sony's part. Rockstar? They were great, but they have some of the shittiest stories especially on GTA5 and RDR2, I can't believe that they are made by the same company that made the masterpiece, perfect game RDR1 back in the day. Rockstar is changed into a very cringy, trying to be edgy approach that only nerds would laugh at.
Japanese games? Their open world are so dense in general, but those silly side quest, which seems like part of the Japanese culture, gives me a sour taste. Yakuza 0 had silly as fuck side quests but fun as hell, so it depends.
Overall, most open world games seem to break and disturb the immersion of the main story, which isn't always so bad but that degrades the impact of the main story.
I don't have to work in game design to know that bad controls are a development failure.Well then you must not work in game design then. Because if they wanted to change it they could. I agree Valhalla is a solid 9/10 but your comparison of Days gone being Sony’s most open worl pales in comparison , look at the review scores they range from all the big sites from 3/10 to 6.5/10
