Microsoft is finally clarifying the situation regarding future Bethesda games

To be honest, exclusives suck, they really do. But they’ve been a part of this hobby since the start. So you either find the strength to ignore them or you buy more hardware. That’s how it is and that’s how it has always been. And people shouldn’t cry and act like a victim if they’ve ever been apart of the crowd cheering an exclusive no matter if it’s called Zelda, Halo, Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, Gears of War or Horizon. Things like this happens for a reason.

With Microsoft people should at least be glad that the exclusives are available on PC as well. Many seem to have forgot about that.

exclusives suck when the platform developer is putting games on other platforms as an example street fighter being exclusive last gen but other cap on games being on all platforms. That kinda sucked

no problem with Sony or Microsoft putting their own games on their platforms as its business and that’s how you get more people on your platfomr

You have to be pretty pathetic to save replies for console warring. I'm not surprised it's you though, you're Spencer's right hand man.

to be fair it’s all a bit pathetic that so many “KNEW” they wouldn’t be exclusive when nothing was said befor hand. Loads of posts that Xbox fans had to put up with of 7.5 billion is to much of an investment for them to be exclusive a sun so on, then when Sony moneyhat stuff there’s a million excuses why it’s ok when it goes that way.

both have the warriors

Legacy means carrying something forward, from a property that already existed. A legacy franchise is an old franchise, like Fallout (from the 90's) which continues to produce sequels.

There is nothing in any of the recent statements that says definitively those franchises will be Xbox exclusive. In fact he keeps couching said statements about exclusives alongside statements that they will support other platforms as well as legacy content.

DOOM and Fallout are both from the 90s. Elder Scrolls too. Legacy content.
yes those games are legacy (the entries already released) and if ms update those games PlayStation will receive the update. NEXT Doom NEXT Fallout NEXT Elder Scrolls etc etc....are not legacy because are new entries
So basically is not what you mean at all

I really like it how PlayStation Fans beg for Microsoft 1st Party Games :) Now Microsoft should buy Square Enix and Capcom to strengthen their Japanese Market and Game Pass.
While I honestly don't like any of their games, the best of meltdowns would be having an Xbox exclusive made by From soft. Gaf and Era would crash after 10 minutes from the news. imagine ahahah

If that’s how you read it then that’s how you read it but legacy to me means the older games that are already out
“That we will go do”

Do what?

It’s all reasonably clear to me, maybe years in law helps. But that shouldn’t be needed for English speaking grownups. Yes Phil is definitely being obtuse to cover for Xbox, but that ain’t it.

I suspect most of you are reading it properly even if not admitting it

I mean, of course they didn't buy Bethesda to support the competition.
Yeah exactly. I’ve always been a PlayStation only player cos I’ve never had an excuse to get both consoles. It seems now I have to at least get both or a pc now cos I definitely want to play the next elder scrolls.

And still not buying an Xbox. But I admit I'm a bit salty now. I want my ES VI.
The thing is ...all those studios will produce a huge amount of titles. It's not just Bethesda at this point, but Bethesda + all the other recent acquisitions + the old studios. If you try to make a list of new titles announced and known titles that will likely see sequels you will understand for yourself that right now Microsoft simply has the largest First party offer on the market. If you think you can access all this for only 9.99 well there is little to say.

This is not to say that other platforms are outdone. We all know how amazing Sony First parties (or Nintendo of course) are but I just wanted to point out that while before, for the entire last gen, leaving out some gems, the Xbox offering was simply skippable, today if you are true gamers ... it just isn't anymore.

For all the hate Phil gets, he could probably have chose to not honor those exclusive contracts. But he still honoring those.

You break a deal with a billion dollar corporation and you are going to get sued into oblivion! Sony would no doubt welcome it too as they'd likely to be able to get more money in costs and damages than they'd make from the exclusivity itself.

Look at what Zenimax did to Oculus/Facebook.

I thought “legacy” was a fairly standard software industry term to refer to existing software that may be old or even considered obsolete. At least that’s how we use the term at my F500 enterprise software company. New products we offer, even if they are closely related, are not part of that ”legacy”. I assume Phil is using legacy in much the same way and new games will not be under the legacy umbrella, but patches and updates to existing games will be.

Console and PC are very different experience
Not anymore, it's easier than ever to play with controller and hook up your pc to an actual tv to get the couch gaming experience and you get better graphics with PC anyway.

This news just confirms there is zero need to buy an Xbox console.

Don't have to necessarily break it. Just buy it out, they obviously have the funds for it.

Gotta get through the coping phase first. Still plenty of denial and meltdowns 🤣🤣.

So many awesome hot takes in the other threads and now its just coping.
It's like a big disaster that happened and you kinda don't wanna look but you have to just because...

I think it was rather obvious that the acquisition was made to first and foremost strengthen the GP offering. Being able to have all those games as XB exclusives is a nice bonus, but that's a secondary objective, GP is Microsoft's main focus/strategy now.

So that being said, it's a given that all Bethesda/Zenimax games from now on will be available on day 1 on Game Pass, most likely on both XB and PC (alongside with ordinary 70$ digital/physical distribution obviously). While for other platforms that don't support GP, like Playstation for example, there are few scenarios:

-a game will be available on day 1 for 70$,
-a game will be available months/years later for 70$,
-a game will never be available.

I specifically said "a game" because I don't think MS will apply either of the above strategies to all titles across the board, rather on a case by case basis, I believe smaller games will be available on day 1 no issue, whereas huge AAA franchises like Fallout for example will be at least timed exclusives.

The elephant in the room is idTech tho, being able to use one of the best, most efficient game engine out there across all the studios MS is an amazing feat for MS.

For someone who "doesn't care" so much. You've definitely shown us with the continuous insults and personal attacks how much you really "don't care" lol.
Did you see the gif he posted for me?Oh yes you did you even laughed at it.
I love hypocrites like you that don;t care when someone insults people they don't agree with but get offended and triggered when others are getting the same treatment. Keep up the double face and hypocrisy buddy you have a great future in this site!

The thing is we don't know what they are going to do and what makes sense for MS. Maybe they would want to "eat" some damage and make some games exclusive.Or maybe timed-exclusive. Or maybe they will keep them multiplatform for the reasons you say.

Like i said Spencer's statement is once again very vague and no one can know what will happen in the future other than the things we already knew (like for games such as Death Loop,Ghostwite,ESO.Fallout76).

You'll need to buy a PC or an Xbox. Thats the only thing you need to know

i have a pc with a 3070 and a very old pc player (from the dos times) ..those two platform aren't giving the same experiences. The PC has gotten very close but still Windows has two thousand queues that can go wrong before simply allowing you to launch the game.
But if your point was that having a Microsoft Windows pc you don't need the xbox sure ...with a different experience but you will certainly have all the games Microsoft want exactly this

Here is the compilation of takes.

Bonus:

Uh-oh crows are going to be an endagered species soon...

But, of course, blame Sony camp and how they eat crow, but DELIBERATELY ignoring what MS said recently and more than a half a year ago :

Last year :

Phil Spencer

"As a player you are the centre of our strategy," Spencer concludes. "Our device is not the centre of our strategy, our game is not the centre of the strategy. We want to enable you to play the games you want to play, with the friends you want to play with, on any device. On TV, the Xbox console is going to be the best way to play console games. Xbox Series X is the most powerful console out there and it will have absolutely the best versions of our console games. But that's not to exclude other people from being able to play.

"Sorry, I am a bit soapboxy with this one. Gaming is about entertainment and community and diversion and learning new stories and new perspectives, and I find it completely counter to what gaming is about to say that part of that is to lock people away from being able to experience those games. Or to force someone to buy my specific device on the day that I want them to go buy it, in order to partake in what gaming is about.

"Gaming is bigger than any one device, and that is something as an industry that we've embraced all up as we bring more and more players in. I think it's vital to the role that gaming can play on the planet."

Yeah, Xbox fans, this is what your leader said. He wouldn't exclude others from being able to play and force to buy Xbox. But Zenimax acquisition happened and now flip-flop. Isn't than nice, Xbox fans. Never change, Xbox fans, never change. But it is understandable since you needed a fuel in a console wars because you were mocked in last 10+ years.

The salt is strong in this one.

Imagine being so daft as to post all that to argue a point that doesn't exist. What a shame really.

Hey genius, you don't have to buy an Xbox to play them, so no... They're not forcing you to buy it.

I agree as a XSX owner that the "legacy" sentence might be debatle, although it doesn't bother me if it's coming to PS5 as long as I can get my games "for free" in GP.

However, I still don't think that big system sellers as TES6, FO5, Starfield are releasing on Playstation.
In my opinion, the "legacy" sentence could have 2 meanings:
1. Legacy titles are games which are currently on Playstation (also older titles) and if there are future releases of DLCs, remasters, collections (think of Halo MCC), then Playstation will get those games as well as they already have some kind of version.
2. Some people take legacy literally, but then I would argue that games like TES or Fallout don't have a real "legacy" there. I mean they were released from PS3 onwards, which isn't a legacy for me. Fallout 1 and 2 are not on PS, and even Morrorwind hasn't been released on PS (but on XBox). On the other hand this might be an indicator for Indiana Jones as those games were already released from PS2 onwards.

Like i've said, blaming others and deliberately ignoring what Phil said. Yes, Phil is now forcing you to buy Xbox ( outside who doesn't have a decent PC ) if you want to play in future new Doom, Wolfenstein, Dishonored, The Evil Within, Fallout, The Elder Scrolls. Cheers!
