Phil Spencer confirms that some new future Bethesda titles will be Xbox and PC exclusive

Imagine being upset and/or surprised by this.

They spent a lot of money on this. Of course they are gonna keep some of them Xbox/PC only. At least some of the games are still gonna be multi-platform and come to PlayStation.

If Sony had bought BGS, we all know not a single BGS game would release on Xbox ever again.

For years, the narrative was "Xbox has no good games!"

Now that Xbox gets access to more exclusives, "MS needs to share their games!" .... You can't make this shit up man :messenger_grinning_smiling:
Even funnier is with the few good first party games that MS had, they were always dismissed with, "I'll get it on PC". Now it's shameless port begging. I'm starting to think that these people were lying about having PCs.

That's exactly the reason it makes sense for Xbox to keep the Bethesda games and especially the system sellers exclusive.

PS5 owners that don't own an Xbox or the high-end gaming rigs they all claim to have, will either have to forego the Bethesda games or buy an Xbox or a Windows 10 gaming rig.
I think it is better to own every system ( if you can)
I own a ps5 and switch for now, but the xsx is def coming in my collection. Have my hopes up for fable and future bethesda games

I have both the PS5 and a XSX (and a Switch) so the news mostly doesn't affect me one way or the other. Most exclusives news (timed or otherwise) doesn't.

But for those with Playstations who are complaining.....we all know what would have happened if Sony had bought Bethesda. All PC and XBOX cross platform releases would have been immediately cancelled and made PS exclusives.

Some games? We know about the multiplatform games in development, but shouldn’t he said all games moving forward beyond our contractual obligations or multiplatform development titles will be Xbox exclusive or something similar? It’s still kind of vague to me. Also, best place to play as opposed to “only” place to play. Hmmmm......

I agree more or less. I have a Series X and a Switch. I don't like Sony games so I currently have no reason to have that big ugly thing taking up room in my gaming space, but if Sony had bought Bethesda that would change my opinion on owning a PS5 drastically. I'd just have to figure out some way to hide it :messenger_beaming:

This sounds like exactly what the majority of us have been saying and got a lot of flack for from the Xbox community but fairly vague. OP massively exaggerates what Phil said.
this mean future games not already under contract will be exclusive ....mmo like eso and fallout76 type of game will end also on ps. Which is very different from the nonsense that some said like "ms can't afford to skip PlayStation useebase" "they need the PlayStation money to make up for the 7.5b" and other bs

My guess is this, big titles will be exclusive, at least for a period of time, if they're system sellers and they see that, they're not releasing them on PS, if they don't do much on the consoles sales front, they will eventually release on PS.

Funny thing is, didn’t Phil Spencer say that exclusives are anti-consumer and he and Xbox fans labeled Sony as being diabolical and anti-consumer for having exclusive games? Let’s just face reality. Even Microsoft knows the value in exclusives. Look what exclusives did for Nintendo and Sony.

Of course they would also raise the price tag. In fact, it's what pirates do when they hijack a ship and resell the loot.

It's all very clear actually:

"Our goal is to give these teams the best foundation for doing their greatest work and to learn from them as we continue to build Xbox into an inclusive platform for all players"

"With the addition of the Bethesda creative teams, gamers should know that Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass will be the best place to experience new Bethesda games, including some new titles in the future that will be exclusive to Xbox and PC players."

"Both as fans and as creators, Bethesda understands the potential of Xbox Game Pass."

Lol some people are leaving in Disney land, if TES6 and Starfield are exclusive MS would simply say it, but they aren't saying it cause it's not the case, games likes TES are too expansive to be put only on a game service, as usual they playing with words just like when they were acting that ROTR was exclusive but it wasn't.

So basically all Bethesda shitty games will be exclusive and the great games and big budgets games will be multi as expected by many already.

I generally pickup the Sony system about midway through the gen, waited for the slim this time around. Maybe we'll get a slim PS5 on offer and can avoid the current monstrosity all together. :messenger_winking_tongue:

No one is upset lol. I guess if you all say that long enough it will become true so you can refer to later as some sort of a brownie point or something. You all keep saying that as if those comments are coming out of nowhere. If Phil Spencer did not make statements saying otherwise, trust me, everyone would think exactly the same as what you are saying people would of Sony. If those contradictory and confusing statements were not said, everyone would consider it exclusive UNLESS said otherwise. That confusion isn't caused by people who are upset or people being hopeful. It's what Microsoft has said at different times - we have yet to see what they will actually end up doing. I think it is going to be on a case by case basis and will depend on how strong the competition is. We've already seen Sony studios publish strong content. Microsoft had been a little lacking in that area but that is changing.

Personally I think it would be very daring of Microsoft if they went ahead with the picture they were trying to paint at the very beginning; of "not believing in exclusives", of wanting to be "where the gamers are". Yes, all PR stuff but the confusion is there due to that.

This is vague as fuck.

We still don't know any more than what we knew a few minutes ago.

Fuck Xbox with their shitty pr.

Not Vague at all. Pretty much said, the next titles will be Xbox and PC only.

They're hardly going to wait up to 5 years to make them exclusive.

MS should just keep them exclusive. Let consumers buy into their ecosystem. Also, I feel that late ports never really set the world on fire. A PS5 version of a Bethesda game a year down the line likely isn't going to do massive numbers.

Sony has a lot of exclusives as well. It doesn't really matter. If you really want to play everything, bite the bullet and buy a secondary system. I did so and do not regret it. Who knows, once Starfield and TES come out the Xbox might be cheaper already. Or sub to GP on PC. I think this is better than Sony acquiring Bethesda because it would lock out a significant number of gamers.

I'm thinking it could mean Deathloop, Ghostwire, Doom vr and MMO titles that arent exclusive. If everything else isn't exclusive that would be a colossal waste of money

"Some"

I still think the heavy hitters will be multi-plat.
They're all 'multiplatform', everything will be on PC day one after all.

Best options are to own a PC and PS5. Can't wait for Nvidia and AMD to their arses into gear and increase availability of their cards.

at this point comments like this are like bending the reality ....is this trolling the thread ?

I don't believe there will be any exclusivity of existing IP's (beyond timed or dlc) New IP's I am sure but you won't see them for 2+ years.

English is not my native language but what part of the CEO of Xbox are unclear when literally saying there will be exclusive games for Xbox and PC?

Is there really anyone who thought Micorosoft would have paid 7.5 billion of USA dollars to then not secure exclusivity?
Problem is they bought a company with an estimated annual revenue of $500m for $7.5bn, and they're a heavy underdog this generation again regardless of Zenimax games being exclusive.

Unlike what many people think, the Xbox division can't just bleed money and they're losing a lot as it is on GamePass.

We've already seen a precedent with this by the way Disney handled Disney+. They didn't yank all of their properties off of competing platforms right away. They honored existing contracts, but no one expected The Mandalorian or Wandavision to show up on Netflix due to "muh existing fanbase." That's stupid as shit. Disney is interested in building a platform. If their existing fanbase want to watch those shows, they subscribe to Disney+.

It won't be any different here. MS is trying to build a business with GamePass. If there isn't an existing contract or a special case like ESO, it's Xbox exclusive. Sometimes you just need to use common sense.
Then they would come out and say that. For months all I heard from Xbox fanboys was "Well they can't say because they don't own them yet. Just wait until then." Now that they own them they are still being vague. Let me tell you if Sony was the one buying them they wouldn't be vague. They would say these games are only on PlayStation from the moment that deal was done. The fact that Microsoft still is being vague says a lot. I fully believe Starfield, Indiana Jones, and others will be on PlayStation.

do you understand that by unifying the platforms already at the launch, that is, from day One, of the ps5, the Xbox platform probably already has the user reach that the ps5 will have MAYBE in 6/7 years? steam have 120m (growing) users per month. Just steam ..without the consoles and gamepass and whatever bring xcloud

This is good news for XBOX, more reasons to own one. In fact, I have more reasons to own both consoles.
