Ofcourse they are. Most dev teams start putting to people to work on the next idea while finishing up.

Capcom working on a new Resident Evil game after the Village? youdontsay.jpg

Next thing you'll tell me is that Nintendo might be working on another Mario game for the Switch?! Get outta here!

I mean, "in development" can mean anything. Could literally just be a word document with some notes.

Final Fantasy XVII is in development. It’s in it’s early stages, so don’t expect it until 2025-2026. You might even see it delayed or something. You might even find it interesting that both Final Fantasy VII, XVI and XVII were in development all at the same time.

The mold fits pretty well. But seriously, that isn’t exactly something new? It was bound to happen.

Golem has been shooting blanks multiple times, that being said, I wouldn't doubt this. I mean, it's one of their largest IPs. 7 sold really well as well. If 8 can do just as good if not better, then it makes perfect sense. But, it's nothing to get excited about yet, lmao. 🤷‍♂️

Not that I don't believe Dusk (for me he's 100% legit when it comes to RE news), but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that RE9 is in development, considering that RE8 is basically done (less than a month before we can play it).

Dusk told us RE8 was called 'Village' literally months before Capcom officially announced it. Thats not something you could just guess and get right.
He obviously does have some sources.
Oh he certainly does, the PS fanboys don't like him because he said Village was running better on Series X.

8 is out in a month, and most likely finished, so yeah, of course they'll be working on 9.

It's de rigueur for Capcom to start preproduction on the next numbered title before the current one releases. This is their flagship series.

Pretty much. He's been misinformed plenty of times, but his legit leaks outweigh his misses.

Don‘t care if legit or not, I like to read the tweets from Dusk. Not like the worlds gonna end if anything he says doesn‘t end up being true.

Yup that is the way too go. Since you don't need 100% of your staff throughout the entire process of a game you can have certain people/teams work on the next project before the previous one has released (which btw is next month).

I would be shocked if they weren't working on it.

Actually if you paid attention to the rumor he said it was practically broken on the PS5 and other developers said similar things about their games. Then there was that console wars comment made which didn't help.

So far the PS5 doesn't appear to be a broken system.

People can hate Dusk Golem all they like (I'm still pissed about that supposed Silent Hill game), but no one can deny his track record when it comes specifically to Resident Evil games. If he says RE9 is already in development, then it probably really is already in development.

Anyway, I'm hoping for another new protagonist (or Rebecca since she's not an action movie star) and no Chris Redfield this time around.

I love how quickly capcom can churn out their mainline titles, while I don't really like resident evil that much, I wish other companies will go for this approach. Square enix should learn from them so we can get a new FF title every year. Perhaps 1 year on remake titles and 1 on mainline title then repeat this cycle, Same goes for bethesda. Takes way too long for their games.

Er, no thanks, at least not with Resident Evil or FF (though they could do with being a little quicker). We got RE 3 a year on from RE 2 and look how that turned out. Would rather they took a couple years and keep the quality and replayability high tyvm. An RE speedrun should be about 3.5 hours, not the actual run time of the game.

At the rate Capcom is making these games, Resident Evil might even catch up to Final Fantasy in terms of numbered entries! Maybe they’ll eventually even switch to roman numerals too, since ‚Resident Evil X‘ would look much less goofy than ‚Resident Evil 10‘.
