Outriders Demo - PS5 and Series X graphics and performance comparison

They did. They said the PS5 has better lighting while the XSX has better shadows. Out of the two versions the PS5 has the most stable framerate. That's basically the sum of the video.
Can you timestamp where they are talking about that?
I thought there would be some examples on the video but I haven't found that while skipping the video.
Thanks!

It's a beta so there's room for improvement.
Is it any good?
it is Demo, not a beta. there is always a room for improvement, but this late in the game, it is not happening, in one week or two game should be gold. of course, after the launch, if xbox will cry enough or if Digital Foundry again harass the developers, maybe they will look into it at later date. but for now, developers said that they are working on small things, to patch them out like bugs, cinematics, lip sync and etc..

But, Hitman 3 is a 4k advantage game changer
This is why I keep saying rdna and teraflop buzzwords + bc, crossgen games and photo modes shouldn't be used as the be all and end all of this systems... they are very differently engineered. But people just can't help it.

seems like an ugly gears rip off.

and this channel doing the comparison cant even get the same in game events going for both.

anyway it could be vrr bug that sees SX hovering around 57-60fps for some reasons?
Low as 55fps but doesnt VRR keep the game smooth? Not to keep the fps at 60? I suspect its another IO issue of streaming

It says native 4k but there's got to be DRS surely as the IQ looks horrendous.

I must have a play around with the demo later - I would try PS5 but will it sit in my library permanently like other demos?

VRR wouldn't be picked up by the capture software, would it? It would be the TV?

is it X|S version or is it like cyberpunk? I couldn't even be assed to download this demo. So I don't know, if it's Gen9Aware of if it's straight up GDK?

Seems to be non-BC. I'll try to check now on my PS5 to see if there's a native version.
Edit: Yup there's a native PS5 version, it's a non-BC game.

They literally said the exact opposite in their PS5 BC video. Maybe you guys don't know the difference between emulating something and just using its settings.

However, it's clear that legacy limitations from PS4 Pro are still in place

The upgrade is welcome on both machines, but it's unfortunate that the Sony machine is still seemingly encumbered by limitations more becoming of the PS4 Pro.

You don't get anywhere by lying.

How do you explain the PS4 Pro vs the X1X and XSS settings?
Quite simply actually, the xbox one x version was the original xbox one version, it was built with the 2013’s xbox one specs in mind. The series x and s are new skews where the xbox one x was not. Also i think the series s has a weaker gpu than the ps4 pro? Could be wrong, its likely the series skew was built with series x specs in mind then ported down, where the one x version was the one s version brought up, but not optimized.

with outriders, i wonder if the ps5’s faster ssd is somehow helping with cpu heavy things, thus it can maintain its frame rate better? Im not sure.

Sounds like complete nonsense and a cope.
I beg to disagree. It's a simple math statistical. The only games which similar gap between the 2 console are BC tied and look the coincidence, Hitman 3 it's the only "native" ps5 game with such gulf in favour of the series X. Now we know Hitman 1 and 2 need to work automatically on ps5 because they give for free the enhanced version of both, if you own the whole trilogy. I'm genuinely ask to you: how the hell is it possible for such engine to be enterily coded natively on ps5 when the previouses two are not? Because no way I/O had the time to rewrite the whole trilogy for the ps5 hardware. I don't see how BC can't be involved, in some way.

One X was a new SKU and the Series S is more powerful than a PS4 Pro, they just have similar TF number.

I installed it on both the ps5 and series x and was gonna try both of them out but couldn't get past the fact that the cut scenes are 30 fps while the gameplay is targeting 60.

And its a ton of cut scenes that interrupt the first like 15 mins of the demo...The change in framerate will definitely give you a bad case of motion sickness

Games pretty trash tho. Just feels like these people should have used their time for something else lol

I’m not q bigger hater of 30fps because I believe it plays fine and it doesn’t compromise the gaming experience.

But after play Destiny and Bloodborne at the same time I can say when you are playing a bad framerate game and shift to a smooth one the smooth give the impression to be faster... so it is weird to play.

The switch between 60 and 30fps should be even more weird... so I can understand how bad having gameplay at 60fps and cutscenes at 30fps shifting all the time being bad.

The video doesn’t seem a reliable source of information, can’t see any shadow and lighting advantages. Might be just the Gamma differences between the consoles, as usual.

Also this framerate graphs looks to be the ones that captured 0 FPS in Hitman 3 PS5.

Better wait for DF, Vgtech and NXgamer. And while I wait, I will do my own comparison.

Its just weird as hell bro...You're in this fast paced action fight and its breezing by at 60...and then they quickly dump you into a cut scene going 30fps..It feels like being on a rollercoaster thats hit top speed and then it starts jerking/stopping/starting mid ride or something.

And one of the worst things you can do on the PS5 is play the Demon Souls 60fps mode...then immediately go play Bloodborne. You will totally tear your eyes up trying to re-adjust to that. Bloodborne one of my fave games and doing that BS made me look at her a lil different :messenger_tears_of_joy:

What BC titles? Most titles use the full power of the PS5.
No they dont. They run in legacy mode. In other worlds they will run with the same settings of a Base PS4 or PS4 Pro. Ofc PS5 has stronger hardware that can bruteforce some things like better loading times and smoother framerate. But unless a game gets a patch for PS5 to unlock the frame rate or increase the resolution for example, a PS4 game will run at 30 FPS on PS5 even if the console is capable t run it at 60fps.

Only Native PS5 games are using the PS5 "full power", i quoted that cuz pretty much only 1st party PS5 games will use the PS5 full power.

I seriously hope your not serious. From what he said he didn't like the direction Gaf was going so he requested a perm.

I've just got my first 3 infraction points for "inappropriate behaviour" with my last post so I won't comment anymore as feedback isn't wanted.

Things are obviously changing fast now. I'll be posting less or leaving like everyone else.

Let's not drag console warring into this.
