'Kena' devs respond to possibility of game being on PS+

Maybe a bomba for the state of play?

This game looks interesting, but not so interesting to tear up my backlog for. If it was PS+, that'd change, and the Devs would get a nice lump sum into the bargain too.

I think Sony are taking PS+ on PS5 more seriously than they did in the early PS4 days. There's not been a single month where I haven't immediately downloaded at least one game.

Seems like this would have been a simple "no" if it wasn't, could be wrong.

If it is, it really could go either way. Games that were added to PS+ either on release or very close to range from Rocket League and Fall Guys, which explode in popularity, to, well, Bugsnax and Destruction All-Stars. And I even liked Bugsnax, but won't pretend it set the world on fire.

Really hope this isn't suggesting Kena is being sent out because they're not confident that people would pay the price tag. As long as this game plays "fine" I'll take it just for the visual style, it blows me away.

I'm setting my expectations for this one to low. An indie dev making a pixar looking game. There has to be a catch somewhere. I'm still looking forward to it but...

Maybe is just a small 5-6 hours game, who knows.

It's not like indie devs can't make great graphic, when the vanishing of ethan carter came out it had some of the best graphic on pc, but it was a very small game.

Dude Bugsnax was a hit what do you mean lol. The developers were so happy with sales that they are looking to do dlc now. Those other games you mentioned are mp so it’s not exactly a fair comparison

It would be great for us subscribers, but I want the developers to make the most money from this game. I hope Sony offered a really good deal to them.

Unless I missed something else, it outsold Octodad, which means it's sold roughly 200k copies. That's great for them, not taking that away, but again, isn't setting the world on fire. Especially next to stuff like Fall Guys which is at what, 11 million copies? I know it's MP and kinda unfair, like you said, but it's just a general idea of the scope. Not saying Kena needs to be the next Twitch hit, it's not that kind of game, but shipping a game day one on PS+ does imply that either that's what they're going for, or they think it needs a helping hand like Bugsnax did. No way in hell that game was selling 200k copies without a lot of people playing it on PS+ first and saying "yeah it's ok actually". Same reason Destruction All-Stars went from a $70 price tag to a PS+ game, they knew people needed a nudge, although that case is way more extreme.

Specially agreed in this case, as Kena seems to be a great game, that type that really fits my "Awesome Game!" criteria lol.

Would love to grab it on Plus, but I'm willing to pay for it anyway.

This game is grappling with a couple more different elements than ethan carter though. Considering that this game is third person and an action game as well. Don't get me wrong although I'm trying to keep my expectations low for the game I am still really looking forward to it. Just got through re-watching the trailer for this game and it got me hyped for the game but at the same time I'm shocked at how that trailer is the only info we have on the game. Even visited the website and it looked like more of the same stuff.

Because I'm sure people don't want a shitty mobile platformer on console
Where the hell are you getting it’s a shitty mobile platformer? Nothing that’s been shown has shown that and neither did game informers cover story. Going by your logic you must not play many games because there’s fuck all boundary pushing games nowadays if any. Gamers have seen and played pretty much everything and now it’s all about a game just being mechanically solid and doing what it sets out to do well.

Vanishing was barely a game. Good one, but barely a game. It was also made mostly with photogrametry by industry veterans.

Well let's hope that this is gonna be a difference case then, the game looks great but not unbelievable great.

I just checked and the devs said its not a full price title (They said "not $60"), I wonder how much it'll cost. I'm fine if its a short but tight experience, like RE, even without the replayability part of RE maybe just something a little extra if you want to stay in the world longer, like Journey's collectibles, not necessarily collectibles but just something extra like changing that village we saw in some way.

Maybe none of that is appropriate for the type of game it is though so I'm just excited to find out more, roll on 10pm GMT I say. I wish Returnal was on PS Plus instead of Destruction All-Stars since the leaked playtester information made it sound like it was primarily an offline game, but its all online so I don't give a monkeys.

Back OT: Animation and model quality of Kena looks stunning, really getting to that place where it just looks so clean jaggies are a thing of the past, even playing Wolfenstein: New Order ~6 years ago, I went back to it recently and in 4K it still looked like a crawling mess, temporal AA was needed so badly for that engine and now its just a thing you fire on and forget about in Doom Eternal. Imagine you watched a Pixar film and one of the characters eyeballs had vibrating, crawling aliasing on their eyes during a pivotal scene. It would be baws.

Oh no I've talked about pixels and graphics again sorry gameplay-men!! I don't care about graphics really I'll play in 720p from now on and keep my tweaker mouth shut I promise!

Are we even getting a PS5 Plus game this month? Destruction AllStars will be available for 2 months instead of 1.

Kena would be a nice add, the game looks nice, but I wouldn't necessarily want to buy it. It's definitely a more interesting looking game than Bugsnax.

This game is supposed to release next month but there's been no raw gameplay for it.. Have a feeling a lot of the hype for this game is behind the "cute" art style or whatever but like idk i thought i read about developmental troubles about it too.
