My point is that movies produced by Netflix are usually cheap and mediocre because the profit they can earn through a subscription service doesn't allow something more ambitious. In my opinion, I used Gamepass in PC for a year, a Gamepass type service would imply a similar level of quality for games as Netflix does for movies. It's a service based in quantity, not in quality. Now that you can't even go to the cinema, for sure.

What's the best thing to ever happen to gaming then?
That's the thing, though. It didn't come out in 2001. I cant deny it being a good service for some, but they built this model to milk customers. I'm sure there will be lots of people paying for this service even when not playing anything for a month or two and overall it probably means more money for Microsoft over time. I will never support subscription services for the simple fact that when you stop paying you stop having access. You never own anything, only rent. I'd prefer to pay and have the option to sell or trade or give to a friend to try, etc. A purchase is worth much more when you own the product.Imagine if you could have played "every single one of those games" while spending only 45 bucks (let's say for 3 months) instead of the 100 times more that it has taken you to buy all those 100 games (as you claim) at the retail price of (for simplification purposes) 40 buck a game. You would have spent 100 times less and obtained the same value minus just the game boxes in your attic. So that's what the article is talking about.
And to say it doesn't bring anything new to you when every future 1st party release is coming out for it and an unknown number of 3rd parties, makes me want to ask you if you can see the future.
The last time it was counted there were 170 games with 80+ metacritic score, that’s 45% of total games. Quite a lot of bobbing jewels. The Gamepass model is EXACTLY like the Netflix model.
Oceans and oceans of junk, with a few jewels bobbing on the surface to give the illusion of quality.
Perfect for people who have been conditioned to believe that renting an ocean of garbage just because of 'how much you get' is better than buying - and owning - a single bar of gold.
That type of money usually will go into gamestop pocket , xbox team really did a great job to counter these bad practices. That's the thing, though. It didn't come out in 2001. The day 1 indies alone are worth it in my opinion
Got you. I rarely go back to a game I’ve completed so it kinda works for me. Also we get a discounted price if we buy the game to keep. That's the thing, though. It didn't come out in 2001. The best thing that happened to gaming is Sony 1st party I'd say. So many games of the year and 85+ meta games in recent years.
Gamepass is still a nice cheap option for casuals or people who don't have the money to play those games. But I doubt they'll ever reach the same quality level.
Gamepass has the quantity but mostly not the top quality.
I have never seen a tag more fittingThe best thing that happened to gaming is Sony 1st party I'd say. So many games of the year and 85+ meta games in recent years.

Most of them you only need to experience once ,that's why I save them for the last .The best thing that happened to gaming is Sony 1st party I'd say. So many games of the year and 85+ meta games in recent years.

Please dontDon't tell him about the state of the cinema industry
Yeah I'm a very patient gamer as well. I mostly play on PC and I think I've only paid more than $20 once in years.Got you. I rarely go back to a game I’ve completed so it kinda works for me. Also we get a discounted price if we buy the game to keep.
What "bad practices" are you referring to? The consumer having the ability to sell/trade/give their product to someone else? Or just the markup gametop has with selling trade-ins? Either way the freedom to do what you want with a product after purchase is what Microsoft wants to eliminate. That type of money usually will go into gamestop pocket , xbox team really did a great job to counter these bad practices.
Sure you can: the best thing to ever happen to gaming is Hidetaka Miyazaki. You can't have one single ""best thing to ever happen to gaming"", it's always a combination of factors, and it depends also from the generation, and from what you really want from the game experience. Basicly it is subjective.
My bad , I meant reselling used games like the famous 80$ gears bundle that was sold for 4 bucks ,that's pretty common back then ,you can replicate the experience with gamepass. What "bad practices" are you referring to? The majority of which are old.The last time it was counted there were 170 games with 80+ metacritic score, that’s 45% of total games. Quite a lot of bobbing jewels.
Sony's first party is 'cinematic' junk for children who are easily impressed by B movie plots and 'press X to continue'. Listening to you clowns act as though it's the second coming of Christ is just hilarious. The best thing that happened to gaming is Sony 1st party I'd say. So many games of the year and 85+ meta games in recent years.

It's cool for all those gamers that never played those games, but I've played every single one of those (and some a whole lot). Game pass doesn't bring anything new to the table for me and I'm sure many others. It's just another subscription service.
Keep moving the goalposts, we went from they're all bad to they're all old. But again, 75% of the games are from the Xbox One generation or more recent according to the same source. The majority of which are old.
Stop trying to make the utterly ridiculous and demonstrably false argument that, right now, there are 170 game which have all rated highly and are all from a 12 month window. It's bullshit. The majority of the library consists of ancient games from the catalog.
Keep renting your games and pissing your money away if that's what you want to do. Misrepresenting the Gamepass library though - that's just sad.
you know you can re-sub, right? if there aren't any games that interest you, unsub. If there are games later that interest you, resub. I don't quite get your point of losing access to your games if you stop paying, because in the same sentence you say there may be no games that interest you. So which is it? Do the games still interest you? Keep the sub. Finally, regarding invested money, these are not appreciating assets, the only value you'll ever get out of them is your own personal enjoyment of the experience. Anyway, I guess I disagree with you on the value proposition. It being a "good deal" is a fallacy. To keep your access to games you have to keep paying every months even when there's no new games that interest you. And as soon as you stop the sub, you're left with nothing for the money you invested in.
I don't like to pay rent. I'd rather just buy on sale the few games I want. 120€ per year can get you a lot of good games on PC.
We're about due for another concern trolling thread about Gamepass. As opposed to the weekly Game Pass is the worst thing that’s ever happened to gaming threads?
Im sure those ones are fine though.
Don't know if it's the best thing ever, but it has really changed the way I play and consume games in general. It made me discover new games and genres I wouldn't buy otherwise, and I generally play one or two games out of it to completion every month, so it's worth it.
I think it's impossible to watch Netflix programs faster than they produce it, especially now that they buy stuff from TV / old catalogs / other networks.
They're old, crap games. You may like them, but that doesn't change the majority of the library.Keep moving the goalposts, we went from they're all bad to they're all old. But again, 75% of the games are from the Xbox One generation or more recent according to the same source.
There aren't even 170 games over 80 MC being released in a year, so your impossible target can't be accomplished, nothing to do with GP.
But thanks for the advice, I will keep using Gamepass and enjoy it!

what? how do you get ps+ at that pricing.Gamepass has been a great addition to gaming services in relation to competition.
As far as a stand alone service, I'm much more critical. It has its shortcomings with price(in certain countries) vs the quality of the game list and rotation which is all subjective.
Before I say this, I understand its not the same service and some would say not comparable which I disagree... But out of the say 3 years Gamepass subscription vs 3 years of PS+. I've amounted a much better quality library through PS+ than Gamepass and they are there with my subscription forever! No in and out rotation.
Not only that, but Gamepass over 3 years costed me $574.20 AUD vs PS+ 3 year subscription $179.85 AUD.
Also, I don't need to hear how Xbox Live is the more comparable service to PS+, I'm well aware.
That's my take.. Don't get salty!
That and a system i believe hurts gamers in this sense: when games were bad, performed poorly and just weren't good people some with their wallets, if the game didn't sell then the developer needs to take a hard look at what to do better and fix the problem next time around.yeah.... have to disagree with that. It's a good service for those who enjoy it, but in no way is it revolutionary, nor does it change gaming as a whole or anything similar. it's just a glorified rental system.
I don’t know why people bring this up like it’s a big deal, the only time I’ve used the 20% discount was to get Ninja Gaiden 2 before it leaves Game Pass because as far as I can tell it’s NEVER been on sale digitally, otherwise there’s no point not waiting for a sale that isn’t the GP discount since everything (even MS first party titles) regularly see discounts greater than thatiirc you can outright buy the games at 20% discount?
its something thoughtful in case you cant finish a game before rotation happens.I don’t know why people bring this up like it’s a big deal, the only time I’ve used the 20% discount was to get Ninja Gaiden 2 before it leaves Game Pass because as far as I can tell it’s NEVER been on sale digitally, otherwise there’s no point not waiting for a sale that isn’t the GP discount since everything (even MS first party titles) regularly see discounts greater than that
