Truth to be told, with Direct X layer, it's always going to be trailing behind PS5. And in Control where you have pretty advance physics, which requires tons of Object References (because that's how you do the interaction), which are expensive behind Dx, it's going to be on CPU side of things behind PS5. That's why Xbox always have higher clocked CPU, it needs it.Oh lord now we have a narrative the Series X CPU is bottlenecked...
Thanks for the laugh.
Yeah, because of Cell. But actually it was more powerful, but hard for gaming development.
When I played the PC version a year ago on my 2080ti - it had micro stutter. It's really an interesting comparison, however I really would like to know what is causing stutter on Series X (it had stutter on Gears 5 originally but its fixed now). Maybe DF could look into this.
I like how 90% of the games compared are won on PS5, but those aren't a representation of its hardware
XSX wins a couple of comparisons, clearly all hardware related/tools
So which version of the tools will bring those? Just trying to keep up here.and this just the raw advantage of the gpu without the use of vrs, maching learning dedicated silicon, and sfs.
A clear win in photo mode frame rateFinally. A clear win.
No, HZD does not. It has a performance mode that locks the framerate completely to 30 while dropping the resolution - but as the game is 30 99% of the time with 4K checkerboarded already, the mode is basically useless. Both GOW and Horizon have unlocked framerate modes.
How did sony manage to produce such brainwashed and religiously loyal fans ? The loyalty for this corporation is on par with religious fanatics
It was 30 for Horizon: Zero Dawn. Its performance mode was kind of a let down.VRR is exactly for "not 60" amongst other things.
i played horizon at launch and that was not an unlocked framerate mode. Horizon is locked at 30 fps in every single mode.Horizon: Zero Dawn To Receive Performance Mode via Day One Patch For Smoother Framerates On PS4 Pro | Gamepur
And this was in an era where VRR wasn't even a consideration. There were plenty games in the past gen with unlocked framerate.
Now THIS, is the most curious to come out of this video.
Using a natural benchmark is what DF is all about, and the "benchmark" in Control was a happy accident. Users on PC have been running benchmarks to put their GPUs through the trenches for decades. If there were a 3DMark for consoles, people would run it and wouldn't care that it wasn't "real-world."It has come down to this. A photo mode popularized by PlayStation exclusives that no one from the other platforms gave a shit about (initially) being used for war fodder, specially when it's not actual gameplay performance.
If DF stoops any lower for clicks, you call me. How PS hardcore still watch DF ... I don't know. The BS will always be there. Stop the clicks. The perks of being the only ones in town I guess, for all it's worth.
Similarly to the way Control RT is achieved on non-RTX cards, such as the 1650/1660 Super.AMD RT is done via CUs.. and XSX has 52 vs PS5 has 36.. so this is expected. And fairly useless cause the game is 30 fps.
No. This is an actual benchmark.Series X wins...in photo mode? Is this what has become of us?
Those 90% of wins being 2 or 3 games
.The PS5 fanboys are already downplaying and DF hating as usual.
Yup. This is not that different from a PC benchmark with scripted sequences and low CPU usage designed to test the GPU.No. This is an actual benchmark.
Don't kid yourself. I don't criticize DF often, but what they're doing here is 100% clickbait. They say themselves in the video that this is just an academic exercise. Yet they label the video as "benchmark". Gee, I wonder why?I can respect what they're trying to do in this test, but when you already know how the results are going to be used......it's just kind of a sad.
On photo mode you don’t need the CPU so much and probably the differences on most games means CPU PS5 is performing better
I still consider DMC5 the best GPU benchmark we've had for these consoles. Native 4K mode with fixed settings and framerate unlocked. In this thread I've learned people don't understand what benchmarking is. You can only work with what you've got and in this case it's Control's Photo mode.
People really pretend to not understand what this analysis is ? The framerate is locked during gameplay while unlocked in photomode. This is a way to see the differential between consoles because its unlocked.
Its amazing, sony fans are so distorted that they pretend they dont get what this shows and are trying to say it doesnt matter because its not gameplay. Amazing.
How did sony manage to produce such brainwashed and religiously loyal fans ? The loyalty for this corporation is on par with religious fanatics
Huh? It's an actual benchmark they were able to do between consoles being stress tested pretty much. This is the single most pathetic and asinine comparison video yet.
If it never materializes than whoever designed the damn thing should be fired.Whether that ever materializes as actual gameplay difference remains to be seen.
Huh? It's an actual benchmark they were able to do between consoles being stress tested pretty much.
My LG C9 is 40HZ. Televisions I've seen are 40 - 120. RTINGS confirmed.Most are sub 20Hz

A monitor’s refresh rate is the frequency at which it can display frames every second. It's measured in Hz, and a higher refresh rate produces smoother and clearer motion if properly used.www.rtings.com
Yes, I often use static 3D scenes when benchmarking my hardware on PC.
Not even sure why 3D Mark exists when all I need to do is fire up a game that has photomode and keep the camera still.
I have a pretty serious pc and all consoles, I’ve never benchmarked photo mode.Huh? It's an actual benchmark they were able to do between consoles being stress tested pretty much.
