VG Tech PS5 vs XSX patch, performance drops to ps5 1368p and XSX 1080p (AC Valhalla)

Looking at those stats the ps5 also needs to drop to 1920x1080 as 51 fps is awful, especially without vrr.

On a side not I've never heard of a game needing to change between 3840x2160 (8,294,400 pixels) to 1920x1080 (2,073,600 pixels) so this has to be a first and the best example of how bad their engine performance is.

No the odd dip is fine, would rather not dip below 1360p on my 4k tV thanks.

1080p is a bit last gen unless its 120 FPS.

I don’t think their engine is bad, I think this is a cross gen launch game and optimization will be less than ideal. Compare Far Cry 4 to Far Cry 5. One was a crossgen launch title and the other came during the middle of the gen. Giant difference between performance and quality and bugs.

No?

Nobody is arguing about weaker or stronger.

The PS5 version of this game has been broken to the point it's performing worse than Series X did before the patch. The OP started the thread in haste thinking he had a console war win, but didn't even bother to notice that PS5 now has obscene screen tearing and spends even less time at 60fps than Series S does.

Basically, PS5 needs to drop to 1080p too.
Or people need to not download this patch, because previously PS5 was running fine at this resolution without the need to drop that low.

Oh wait, this did get a patch! That means all the preliminary data is meaningless and all the conjecture surrounding it was pointless. Wow, I'm totally surprised. Now the PS5 has over twice the torn frames. That's insane. Frame tearing is literally the worst problem to have. Man, I'm thankful they patched it on XSX before I bought it. I hate frame tearing.

how does all this compare to pre-patch performance and resolution?

Why did Ubi seemingly make it worse on both consoles?
PS5 and Xbox Series X use a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest native resolution found being approximately 2432x1368. Both consoles rarely render at a native resolution of 3840x2160. The native resolution is usually between 2432x1368 and 2880x1620 on both consoles. PS5 and Xbox Series X use a form of temporal reconstruction to increase the resolution up to 3840x2160 when rendering natively below this resolution.
PS5 with 865 torn frames, Series X with 4025 torn frames, minimum framerate of 50fps on both. 59.85fps PS5, 59.62fps Series X.

No. PS5 was almost locking 60fps at 1440p minimum, they dropped the resolution to achieve 60fps locked and they fucked up something in the process. You don't lose frames when lowering resolution, they should revert the patch as it was running more stable and at higher res.

Nope just don't update and you should be fine.

Ubisoft messed with it and added extra tearing where it didn't have it any where near as much before. Thanks a lot, Ubisoft (y) you bunch of clever people.

PS5 in Performance Mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest native resolution found being approximately 2432x1368.

Xbox Series X in Performance Mode uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest native resolution found being 1920x1080.

Discuss.

So are we saying the Series S is a 576p machine, and the Series X is a 1080p machine?

I'm just kidding folks.

The disappointing thing is the majority of you are not even playing the game.

Xbox Series X doesn't hit 60FPS Target: Take the L Xbots. Your console isn't even next-gen; I'd rather kill myself.
Xbox Series X doesn't hit 4k Res Target: Phil Spencer needs to go at this point; it's been nothing but disaster after disaster for the Series X. This is worse than the Xbone ever was. Series X is a scam, I feel sorry for Xbox fans right now, ngl.

PS5 doesn't hit 60FPS Target: The odd dip is fine, would rather not dip below 1360p on my 4k tV thanks.
PS5 doesn't hit 4k Res Target: The human eye can't perceive more than 1080p unless you're sitting (X / (Y * P)) / r2 away from your TV. Based Cerny.

Normal human beings:
Looks like the Xbox version better targets 60FPS in the 60FPS mode, and better targets 4k in the 4k mode. This is good. However, it appears there's an issue on the PS5 that requires the game to be reinstalled to address these strange and clearly unintentional issues on that platform. Let's make sure PS5 owners know about that issue to ensure we're all playing the best version of our game.

PS5 wins since XSX isn't outperforming the PS5 in any game. If this stays that way, then yes....multiplats will be best on PS5 together with the controller.

I'm not seeing any advantages for XSX atm. Other then a great service like gamepass and more mature BC, it also feels the console is a bit dead atm.

Microsoft is completely silent around it and it looks like the marketing is also kinda dead. They will have a hard time when Sony announce their gamepass competitor.

That isn’t true though. It was performing much better before the patch at higher resolutions and never had to go down to 1080p. Whatever it is Ubisoft did made the PS5 version perform worse and not because of its higher resolution.

Did you miss out PS5 in that part?

Ubisoft was trending a couple hours ago because of this. It's the parity clause, they had to make the PS5 version worse to match Xbox's version

The dualsense is definitely a big advantage, that's for sure.

Maybe you misquoted me? I'm not trying to console war or say Xbox is better with multiplats lol.

That's the point, the patch is clearly a quick fix and not nearly representative of either console's potential.

Almost 3000 torn frames in the PS5 version is dire. Heck, Series S had 6000. Ubisoft deserve all the shit they get.

I really need to understand the drive behind people being interested in how modern Ubi games perform...on anything...
The thing U do with those is not play them. That is all they good for..

Is it just that some have a need to use this unoptimized baggy atrocity to prove how underpowered ither console is?

To those people. Here. Have a blast:

Xbox Series is so weak...like OH MY GOD.
And PS5 like SUPER-DUPER POWERFUL

Can we just move on now?

i wish i could refund the game after how ubisoft has treated playstation users which is where most of their sales come from:

  • gimping the frame rate
  • not fixing the bad audio
  • not making use of the dualsense
Fuck them. I suggest to all my fellow PlayStation gamers that we don't support them anymore. they apparently get plenty of money from microsoft marketing

So a game which performed consistently better with higher average resolution and also had better shadows and crepuscular Rays, all with less tearing is now slightly worse on PS5 with more tearing, regardless of the higher rez, this does not compute.
What is your definition of “many?”
Like ridiculously many..... Go through Vgtech's stats...

As a matter of fact, don't go anywhere.... PRO performs better than XBONEX in this game too... Pick your poison to confirm Vgtech or Nxgamer, the stats are there.
