I don't think the two opinions are necessarily mutually exclusive. Let's say for example you were seeing Scarlett Johansson and when you finally got down to business you were treated to an evening of dead fish sex. While I'm sure it would still be a fairly pleasant evening all things considered, it would also be fair to say that she was being a little "lazy" in her execution of the deed and to wonder how much better it could have been.
Tbh I'd still be pretty happy about the experience, laziness be damned.
I'll admit I don't even notice a chunk of my tv isn't being used when I'm playing SM64.Something I was wondering. It’s interesting that 2/3rds of this collection are native port + emulation layer, but Super Mario 64 is complete emulation, with new elements ‘injected’ via LUA script (I’m going to pretend I know what that is).
If it had taken the other approach, 16:9 and 1080p would have been on the table. Add in that this is a far better emulation effort than we’ve ever seen from Nintendo before (Wii and Wii U VC), and something altogether different...
That kind of makes me think Nintendo has plans for N64 emulation, and when I when I think of 720p emulation, I think of the meager, but solid NES and SNES Classic hardware. I wonder if it’s possible that an N64 Classic could be around the corner? Certainly enough time has passed for one, and it’s maybe more feasible for a cheaper product.
As much as we all seem kind of... done, with these classic reproductions, having had our fill. I could see a lot of excitement for a mini N64 that played all those classic games. Doubly so if Microsoft is on board to deliver the Rare classics, and I don’t see why they wouldn’t be.
Or maybe Nintendo just thought 720p and 4:3 were fine, and more appropriate for such an older game? Maybe they want to do N64 games on NSO? Extrapolating data from the utterly vague, and getting hyped is always a bad decision, but it’s intriguing to think about.
D-pad aside, the Pro controller is one of the best controllers of all time. Battery lasts like a champ and it's easily usable with Steam.
You can try, but I'll swallow you whole. Chili con Arcadia!I would try Yoshi meat at least once.

Having seen the results of Nintendo's "lazy" Galaxy port and how astonishingly good it looks and sounds, I must now demand ports of F-Zero GX, the Fire Emblems, Baten Kaitos, and DKC Returns.
Honestly, I kinda wouldn't even care about an F-Zero sequel if we got a spruced up GX. I genuinely don't know how they could improve that game.
Or harder for daddies like me. (Make a new one ffs!)They could make it easier for babbies like me
I’m more offended by the lack of couch co-op.
I can’t remember if it was posted here that the Mass Effect Trilogy remaster wouldn’t be on the Switch or at least not at the same time as other platforms. Wouldn’t it be awesome if EA put SSX on the Switch? I would pay their exorbitant port prices on Switch for that franchise.
This?Trying to hunt down that sexy Ori collectors edition, with both games on it, but it seems that it's Japan only. Was hoping for a WW release. Damn, would love those games in my collection.
This?
Well that is a world wide, region free release. You can order direct from iam8bit. Let me know if you pick it up. It does look really nice.Yes, that's the one.

Mm I expect something in October.Wonder what the next announcement from Nintendo will be/when.
Smash DLC?
I've decided to give Mario Sunshine another chance.People whine about Sunshine too much. Can a few of the missions benefit from a pass of polish? Absolutely. The example in the OT of that Yoshi one, is hilarious, and spot-on. This is a roughness that never happened in Nintendo games before or after.
Somehow, this gets extrapolated out, by a few, to the entire game being frustrating and broken, though, and that’s just not the case. You have another pitch perfect set of controls and movement, and genuinely great, even awesome gameplay, world design, and missions throughout the game.
What it can be, is challenging. Unlike every 3D Mario since, it isn’t set to perma easy mode, with slight spikes into medium. That isn’t a bad thing, as many of my favorite Marios are from this period, but this is a different kind of Mario that asks your skills to be up to snuff, and your attention fully focused.
When I see people going after the secret levels, which are platforming, and blaming everything but themselves, that tells me everything I need to know.
Bless Sunshine for causing internet debate almost 20 years later, tho.
DO YOU PEOPLE EVEN REALIZE HOW GOOD MARIO GALAXY IS
The Bowser's Fury announcement got me thinking - have we ever had a game where Bowser is the main protagonist?
Would anyone else like to play a game where you play as Bowser, you rise through the ranks to become King of the Koopas' and then invade the Mushroom Kingdom with your army? Wario gets his own games, why not Bowser.

I really enjoyed the bit in Odyssey where you play as Bowser, though this was helped by amazing music!
If Bowser controls as heavy as he looks, I don't want to. I also don't like playing Wario for similar reasons.
Been awhile, but he sort of saves the day in Bowser Inside Story, doesn't he?The Bowser's Fury announcement got me thinking - have we ever had a game where Bowser is the main protagonist?

God of War designer joins Retro Studios as environment designer
In July, Retro Studios added a longtime staffer from Sony Santa Monica. Jon Marcella, who worked on the most recent God of War games, is now with the Metroid Prime 4 developer as an environment designer. Marcella was a designer on God of War: Ascension having been involved with elements such as...nintendoeverything.com
Also makes you wonder how far away the game is actually from a release date for a title that was basically announced when the Switch launched .This feels like the most underreported story of the last year.
Retro is really building a base of talent that resembles how the original Retro was made — hire everyone in sight with an amazing resume, until you have some of the brightest gaming minds in the country, all under one roof.
It’s also interesting to see just how many positions it’s missing, sometimes even crucial ones. There’s an element of staffing up for such an ambitious game, sure, and western development is basically a revolving door, so I could be wrong, but it does strike me that maybe Retro was in a bad way, more than we knew.

I know they restarted everything from scratch but makes you wonder if it’s a game we get for the Switch 2.

The thing is it was announced in 2017 and no one really knows if they started from scratch or used whatever they could salvage.Them still hiring people tells me they started from the ground up so it‘s still a while away.No matter where the game is at right at this very moment, it shouldn't be further out than 2 years.
Because games don't really take that long to create unless there are problems with development or there is just a massive amount of content (GTAV, RDR2, etc). A Metroid Prime game probably wouldn't fall into the category of needing several years of content creation unless this game completely overhauls the formula and becomes sandbox space adventure.
This is what I’ve been expecting since the restart. A cross-gen or very late-gen Switch game.
I think it’s a good idea to view it like that. If it comes sooner, it’ll be an awesome surprise, and if not, you won’t be let down.

Hope I’m wrong but it feels that way.
