Sure, I was specifically addressing the claim that they aren't capable enough to.
I'm just saying that they need to increase the quality of the lighting and shaders before release, I don't think that's some insane expectation that require decreasing the scope of the game and spending less time on gameplay.
I mean, its going to get better. Even FF7R got considerably better between reveal and release, although to be fair it was pretty much remade, but still. At this point worrying about graphics doesn't make sense, since usually what we go-by for graphics is a CG announce trailer, or a pre-rendered "in-engine" trailer. This is very much "what you see is what you get" for something possibly 2 years off.

I agree with you, but this comparison is not fair, one is a cutscene from CyberConnect, the other was a remade version under SE.
FF XVI one year from now on is not changing studios.

Its also not dealing with all the drama and internal issues with having to remake a game in a hurry. Plenty more time to polish things up, especially if Naoki Yoshida is producing it. It doesn't even have a release date yet.

This trailer is what they are claiming the game is going to look like, saying it's going to get better is fine but if we can't talk about the game until it's finished then this thread is pointless.
Right now it looks lack luster, if it get's better then great. I'm not worried about it, just saying it looks weak.
so hyped for FFXVI. FFXV was great but it had a lot of troubles during development, starting off as a totally different project. XIV was MMORPG.
really if you think about it, this will be the first single player FF in nearly a decade, since XIII. presumably it is just this one game, or at the very least, that is the focus for the moment. all of this bodes well.
imo the experience of making XV and VIIR will really help this game turn out to be something special.
At the end of the day, the graphics of FF16 are going to be more than good enough for it to be considered a great game if everything else is well done. Especially with the expected improvements over the next 1-1.5 years.
Fans have been pleading ever since the PS1 installments to have a Final Fantasy that provides both a great story and an open world to explore (personally I think FF12 largely does that, but I digress). So I think Square-Enix has realized this and want to truly deliver the ultimate package we've been asking for. And having very good graphics along with a great story and explorable world VS top-notch graphics with a limited world and incomplete story is a trade-off that is worth it.

No, the trailer is not "what the game is going to look like." Its what "the game currently looks like." That's just how this producer rolls in comparison to many of the others. There was a conscious effort to show in-engine cutscenes and combat, instead of a CG announcement trailer.

I'm saying "things will change as we're still over a year away from any more info". Its like saying "This prototype race car looks horrible. Its all cobbled together and they don't have it painted and there's open wiring everywhere." when they're still testing the thing.
Best Final Fantasy since FFX. It divided some OG fans though because of how much it deviates from the original story though, so if you're an OG fan, your mileage may vary.

Games don't get giant changes in a year , I know what kind of improvements we see. maybe the game is further than we think.
I'm saying there is no point in holding back judgement since the most common scenario is for the game to look pretty much the same.
If it improves more than normal then great but it makes sense to talk about what we have.
This is the exception that proves the rule.
The most common scenario is for the game to look slightly different so that's the frame of mind I will discuss it from while hoping for more.

I dunno, maybe 7:R. Didn't really matter, Point is that it isn't a common scenario so I will continue to discuss the game with the most probable scenario in mind.
My whole point was that I hope that we see a bigger improvement in quality that usual and I would love to hear that the game is a bit further away if ti raises the chances of that.

Cuz thats why a lot of folks are excited for this. Yoshi-P overseeing this production is the best damn news the game could have. And the director Hiroshi Takai was co-director on Heavensward which...wew lad. That was fire.
Maybe one day they'll do an offline version so folks like you can go back and play it. The newest expansion already made it so you could bring story-character party members with you into dungeons.

I really wish I could get into FFXIV, and lord knows I tried, but I just can't get into MMOs these days. Shame because I keep hearing how great Shadowbringers is.
I'm not worry about graphics. This is Square Enix. They never neglected in the area. Also what we already see is not bad. It just people expect too much and probably already too accustomed to flashy art style by previous final fantasy games. This time the team handled it is different than what lot of people usually know.
beside even if it ugly in the end there still gonna be people 'praise' them. I even see on social media claim FFXIII visual today on par with current AAA ps4 games LOL
It's probably 3 years until release. It will probably improve significantly by then. Also, I prefer that it improves, than having a trailer that wouldn't be able to top.
I've played FFXIV from 1.0 up to the latest expansion and while I don't like all the things they've done, I can recognize and appreciate the effort and dedication YoshiP's team have put into the once dying game. It feels as if they've hit new highs with each expansion from story and presentation standpoints.
FFVIIR was great. I was only mildly interested at first and played it on a whim, but surprisingly ended up having a lot of fun and looking forward to future installments.
Given the past missteps and recent successes, I think SE may have found their priorities going forward. And with YoshiP at the helm of FFXVI, I'm cautiously optimistic. The graphics shown so far are at about what I'd expect from an FF and serviceable in my opinion.

Some other tweet already said all the trailer show during that Playstation event are 2021 title and this one already in Oven since 2016 . it clearly PS4 title run on PS5

No i didn't , i haven't touched an MMO in so long, i get addicted too easily, so i stay away from them for my sake.
Yoshi-P always says the right things in interviews, and the FXIV community loves him, but the trailer was enough to get me interested, DMC combat, cool summon fights, liked the scenarios and atmosphere, from the amount of content in the trailer it seems the project is going well too.

Yeah
They probably used the PC build for recreate the PS5 performance.
But, on the technical level, it's just like Resident Evil 8.
It can easily become a crossgen game, but I think Sony chose...
Maybe.

FFXIV can be played as a full single player experience from lvl1 to lvl80 and you only have to join other players for some mandatory dungeons and final bosses and even the game queues you to search automatically those players.
Have you seen the garbage filler fetch quests that FFVIIR was full of?And that was in an extremelly linear game which theoretically makes it much more easier to have sidequests with good/interesting stories than in an open world game. I realize this is developed by another team but the last 2 major FFs don't exactly give me any confidence that FFXVI will have a world filled with meaningful sidequests like the Witcher 3 had.

I don't think you read the entire thread, that's one of my complaints of FFVIIR, actually it's something that SE since the merger has fallen in love with.
The original Square Soft didn't have this problem, one of great exemples of side content was the OG FFVII :
- Going back to the lab in the Shinra Mansion and getting a huge cutscene about Cloud and Zack.
- Finding Lucrecia's cave and getting another large cutscene for Vincent's past.
- Fighting the 3 Weapons
- Talking to Bungenhagen at disc 3
- The entire Wutai Segment
- Playing Tifa's Piano
- Doing the Mansion Puzzle to recruit Vincent.
There's more but you get my point, when you did side content you learned more about your lovable characters and you got great rewards on top of it to make it worth your time.
The fetch quests that are simple, go here and do this for me where it doesn't add anything to the story/lore and you get basically shit rewards (just some worthless XP and some item that you probably won't even use) only hurts the overall experience.
Despite the usual problems you find in other SE games like fetch quests and some questionable level design, the game was still able to rise above it with incredible combat, the best looking cutscenes in the generation, incredible boss fights (and there's a lot of them, it may be my favorite game in the entire generation as well when it comes to boss fights, i'd have to think on this), great animations, great soundtracks ( this is not unusual for Square Enix ) and they nailed the characters despite some issues i had with VA and translation.
They did all this on 3 years, if you read the Ultimania Interviews they had to cut stuff because of time constraints, and they had a huge problem with CERO and the decision to not let the game out with a M rating which led to some questionable decisions on censorship.
Why can't i expect them to build on this?
It seems they are letting FFXVI come out with M rating if the first trailer is any indication of what's to come, so that's a first positive sign, i heard great things from Yoshi-P and the sidequets in FF XIV, so i expect an improvement in that regard as well, the games will come out in the next generation so you don't have to hide loading screens with long corridors where in the end Cloud has to squeeze through gaps, which gets annoying fast but 90% of the games this generation has to deal with it, should go away with SSD's.
I never thought i'd say something like this again, but i'm excited for the next Final Fantasy.
Yeah

Maybe.
RE8 is struggling with frames on the PS5 imagine it on the PS4/Xbox one X, apparently the entire game will have 0 loading screens and they are having to do a complete Overhaul of their Engine.
I think you are being a bit harsh, i disagree that it could "easily become a crossgen game".
How is the game ugly? Granted, there are a few tile sets early on in ARR dungeons that are rather average/subpar, but the majority fo the game looks gorgeous.

If you believe this then I suppose I can see how people can praise this game so easily.
I assure you, It's rare to find find a second where the game world doesn't look flat and dead with npc's that look garish and uncanny. it's a mess from start to finish. If you think it looks good then okay but I just think it looks like a very dated MMO.
The architecture is okay at times though.
When I keep how bad FXIV looks in mind this game does actually seem bareable.

So the explanation of how it is ugly is "It just is and you are the issue if you think otherwise"?
I am asking you to go into detail with *why* you think it looks ugly. Is it the general art direction? The tile sets? The textures? What about them make them look ugly to you? Go into detail, don't act like a troll.
Textures, animations, lighting, models, foliage. All low quality graphically but more importantly the artstyle really does not mesh well with this with all the low quality assets. The environments looks pretty bland and flat in general and yada yada, I don't want to get too offtopic for too long.
I didn't mean to say "you're the problem" Just saying that I think it's ugly. I'm just saying I suppose if I use it as the baseline instead of 15 or VII:R then FFXVI looks fantastic.

Ah, understandable. I can see where you are coming from, but for me I really enjoy a number of the things you mentioned. I feel the animations are smooth and fantastic, with lots of charm and character. The lighting can look absolutely gorgeous most of the time, and the general art direction I feel is perfect for Final Fantasy.
There are absolutely issues, like the super low res, almost-ps2 level of foliage and textures, especially on larger items such as mountain ranges. However, these are getting better and better as new expansions come out. Comparing the zones of Stormblood or Shadowbringers to Heavensward or ARR shows how much better they are doing. Though this is a thing in general with MMOs. You have to remember than FFXIV originally released back in 2010 before re-releasing with essentially a "remake" of the game in 2013. The game also started development back in 2004 and up until Stormblood was designed to be able to run on PS3 systems. It is an old game for sure, but they make the most of what they can given their budget and time constraints.
I do hope you will give the game a second chance, if only for the story and writing. You can basically do Main Quest after Main Quest with zero side quests and no need to grind for levels these days.
He always looked like a hot chick (just like every other FF main character). Hence the cross-dressing scene as a joke. They also made him a little buffer in the final version.
