Damn, I actually thought there'd be a bunch of preorders ready today. Sony said it would start today, and retailers jumped the gun. So it seemed natural to assume that most retailers were waiting until the right time.

Guess not. My Amazon preorder feels pretty valuable all of a sudden.

I honestly think this started because of a mistake at Walmart. I think they accidentally let preorders go live, then other retailers followed suit.

Wtf. That's ridiculous. EB didn't open until 11am but I called at 10:30 anyways just to see what's up and someone answered, said they have some preorders but can't specify how much so I better get my ass over there.

Stayed overnight at CompUSA with my brother and about 10 friends for 360. Brought a 30 pack and everyone in line joined in on the party. What a great memory.

My guess is most retailers were told the preorder details would be in the video for secret last minute dealings.

Then sony forgot to mention preorder, then Geoff got involved before a real blog post. And then retailers who even had the video embedded on their preorder page just thought the video was the signal to start after all (because no one follows Geoff).

Once big balls walmart went for it, no one else had any reason to give sony a chance to explain.

I canceled my Walmart order and decided to go with Target.

If you want a PS5 DE, you are best off trying anywhere but GameStop.

They will intentionally limit(or order less, however you wish to say it) quantities of them because it doesn't support their business model. They did this for a long time when I was there for several things.

They refused to carry the Xbox All Digital for quite some time. They'll be very limited on PS5 DE going forward(if they order any more at all). Xbox Series S will suffer the same fate here.

Foolish, as they are hurting these days, but they've never been able to park their pride or their greed.

Luckily, thanks to this thread, caught Target having some available for like 5 mins and got one

Not trying to be a downer but I remember Ps4 release and there were a lot of retailers that took preorders and could not fulfill them on release day. Walmart was one and Bestbuy as well, I remember the rage.

Just because of that situation I pre-ordered at three difference retailers, will keep one, gift one and sell one for cost to someone that is buying it for there kid, that is of course if all three come which I highly doubt.
