PlayStation 5 Pre-Orders Starting TOMORROW (Sep 17) (Some may be TODAY)

I was out all day. Did amazon ever go live [besides the glitch]?

I see the page has changed slightly.
I've been checking Amazon and Best Buy all day. Judging by the comments by users on Amazon, it sounds like they went live really early and instantly sold out. Lots of complaints of not even getting notifications

So now I'm confused. Does this interview between Geoff and Lempel (PS Worldwide Marketing) mean that the early retailer preorders was a miscommunication and PS still hasn't officially opened preorders?

at this point i'm not even sure if i'm going to get mine at release. Pre ordered it at a local retailer who had pre orders up for a very brief moment. After i checked out i searched for PS5 again since a friend asked me to pre order for him too and it was delisted completely.

This is straight up madness

I pre-ordered mine in Germany at Amazon shortly after midnight. A few hours later everything was already sold out. In my opinion this is not necessarily due to the high demand (which I'm sure there is), but due to the low production numbers.

midnight today or yesterday?

I am started to think they are releasing it in pre-order waves. The numbers in my head just don't match up for being completely sold out that quickly in so many places.

Or we are just all really really really bored at home during Covid and all of us are that excited about Demon's Souls.

They did them in waves last time too, as time goes on they'll have a better idea of exactly how many they'll have for each region along with shipping times etc. I know people are mad at Sony for the pre-orders going live early but that's on retailers not them.

But the number of initial units is higher than ps4.
I would say there is more interest in gaming in general after 7 years (covid helps too).

Yesterday. Germany was sold out before US Amazon even started to take pre-orders
I got mine PS5 and PS5 DE in

Total number, not units per launch.

Ps4 launched November 15th just in NA and November 29th in Europe, SA and Oceania. Asia like South Korea and other small markets in Europe were in Mid December. Japan was February 22nd

This time they have
NA + Japan + Oceania + South Korea November 12th
Europe + ROTW November 18th

That is so much less stock

Is it possible to give away a golden ticket? I got my preorder secured so I no longer need it.
It is. My buddy got one and there are explicit instructions not to share it because it can be used by somebody else. And if we're given one away, I'm a great charity case.

Not in a secure way unfortunately. You'd have to give someone your psn log in and they'd buy it while on your account but ship it to their house. It'd be a mess of trust since they'd have your account info, and you'd be able to change the shipping adress at any time before launch

You're kinda wrong on that. Its linked to the account you registered, and it mentions if you try to log in with a different account itll lock the link.

I'm going off of what he told me. As for me, apparently a minute-one 14-year-old PSN account with 100, 000 hours of time played on PlayStation platforms for 25 years and 1,000 games or more maybe, including every game for PS4 purchased through Sony's digital store, absolutely doesn't qualify you to get an easy pass.

I'm one of the Amazon Germany beneficiaries anyway. I'm not entirely comfortable with it, but my pre-order appears to be solid. I'm looking for something a little more local so I can cancel it.

Biggest electronic retailer at Finland opened preorders 15-20mins ago.

I spammed F5, got one in basked, took 20s to choose payment options as they had too many = you cant order the item in the basket as it is sold out

so they sold out in less than a minute..

PS5 will be impossible to get on playstation lands

Yesterday ofc. ;)

The goal is perhaps to reach these numbers. But I don't think that there are already millions of models in stock. I also think that the pre-orders are possible in waves from time to time, depending on how many models could be finished in that time.

I hear ya man, I'm not day 1, but I've bought almost every major ps4 title digitally, got 32 platinums, and thousands of hours on record and I got nothing either. I was also a ps1 and ps2 player too, but I never registered my stuff so Sony wouldn't know any of that.

Like I'm not trying to be too entitled here, but I worked at a Best Buy during the holidays in 2000 just so I could get my hands on a PS2 on launch day. My very first professional job Christmas bonus check of $850 was spent entirely on a 60 GB PlayStation 3, resistance fall of man, and an extra six axis controller. It would just be nice for Sony to hit the easy button. I mean I got my pre-order locked in, but if I did get an email, I'd cancel it and just go with that. I'm no pornographer. I'm not hucking pre-orders on eBay.

I'm not so lucky. Only one I caught was the second walmart offering, and I got cockblocked by my credit card's fraud protection. I get in there and speed through checkout, card gets declined, and by the time I open my app to confirm its me the damn thing is sold out.

I managed to get my pre-order in with Amazon UK pretty much within 20 seconds of it going live.

I've also pre-ordered the Pulse 3D headset, an additional controller and the charging station from there too.

I got one standard PS5 at FNAC in France, shortly after the event (like 1 hour after), since then it's out of stock everywhere, both standard and digital. I'm pretty sure any restocking in the coming weeks will vaporize in the hour. Good luck eveyone it's insane.

I got my PS4 on launch. I went into Gamestop and just put down my pre-order the day they accepted and the time they opened.

Man that was smooth. Although, I am not too worred about things. I'll have a PS5 eventually.

I feel like Angry Joe right now.... Didn't get that Playstation invite email, and got screwed by every retail site i have tried, and didn't get to gamestop in time.

Low numbers and auto buy bots killing everyone IMO. Which is crappy is 2020 (the bots at least, sure Covid affected production, plus the rumoured low yields) - stores could and should be implementing protections for their customers by now, but they don’t give a fuck...
