Shoddy ports and emulation, specially the Super Mario 64 one, having the source code is inadmissible that they release that piece of junk I was expecting a full remaster, or at least one competent port, it doesn't even have 16:9 support.
Jut look what the community has done with SM64 and what a multimillion corporate hasn't been able to do..
Anyway super excited for Super Mario Sunshine I will just wait for the inevitable 60fps hack since Nintendo didn't even bothered....

To be fair, they are trying to celebrate 35 years of Super Mario. Keeping the game a bit blocky keeps it nostalgic. They also had blocky SM64 in Odyssey.
Well at least it comes 1 day after many of us strike out trying to get a 3080.

I remember Mario’s mustache being blurry and pixelated for example. In the trailer it looked very clear, and the brickwork looked better to my memory.

The "improved some textures" comment is hilarious, because it's one tiny texture on his hat, it's the minimal you can do.

I'd imagine a high percentage of those playing these titles for the first time are kids, and they're being ripped off.
And is that how you critique pricing? Whether or not I can afford it is one thing, but that doesn't make these prices reasonable at all. Like, I could afford a $10 stick of bubblegum, but there is no way I would justify that pricing. Your response is childish and poorly thought out, Phonepunk.

I have finished it twice, last was maybe 6-7 years ago. It is good fun, colorful and original. In my opinion it has more personality than, say, 3D World.

It was a fun game. It didn’t feel as epic as Mario 64 to me at the time. My biggest complaint was the camera. I’m sure that as people play it, that complaint will arise again since it likely hasn’t been touched.

Did they remade the 2D assets to accommodate for the higher resolution though? Or is it just up-scaling old code using emulation?I'll say I'd rather they had included Galaxy 2 than Sunshine.

We did. It was remade for the DS and came out in 2004.

From that Mario 64 screenshot alone it looks like they are darkening the brightness by at least 20% like they have been doing for all VC games since Wii U.I'll say I'd rather they had included Galaxy 2 than Sunshine.
At least they did something to the older games.

Also, I think SMG2 will come. There's just something funny about the widescreen banner split in 4, with SMG having a round edge like being a part of something else bigger.

Where is the second image from? It looks like it has higher resolution assets. Look at the eyes, buttons and moustache. The camera icon also looks higher res. This is not how it looks in the Wii VC, though i'm not sure how it looks in WiiU. This looks like a custom HD texture mod. Or is it the All Stars version?

Just think about the people who bought Super Mario Bros on NES, Mario All Stars on SNES, Mario Deluxe on GBC, NES Classics Super Mario Brothers on GBA, Super Mario Bros on Wii VC, Mario 25th Anniversary Collection on Wii, Super Mario Bros on 3DS, and Super Mario Brothers on Wii U, then paid a monthly subscription to get access to Super Mario Brothers.

Well, that's good. At least it seems they improved something in Mario 64.
From the twiter pic it seems like Mario 64 is getting high-res 2D assets and (some) textures. Not sure about the other games.
