I can already see the meltdowns if this is true

I was just thinking about this yesterday and how it would make sense. Depending on the beta I might get this and having Spiderman would be flipping sweet

In all seriousness, i dont have a problem with this really. Sony hold the rights to Spiderman, and with the new Spiderman game being an exclusive, they probably want Spiderman to be almost a PS5 mascot in a sense.
Still a cringy thing to do, but it is what it is. Plus the game looks awful anyway lol.

Hey look, marketing rights for a GaaS game. I thought it was Game Pass that was going to push those types of games. Looks like they are being endorsed by Sony. Paging Mr. Freeman Freeman

Btw, I don't mind these types of games and if this is true I'll get it for PS5 if it's worth buying.

Wait were people actually interested in this game? i am not sure it's a big deal
I hardly see anyone talk about it

I'm just happy for the developer that they don't have to work on another 15 years of Tomb Raider games. It has to get old working on the same series for that long. Anyhow, Avengers is getting an open beta, so everyone will be able to try it for themselves soon enough.

But why should it be if it's not made by Sony and Insomniac? The character combat animations of some of the heroes already look jank and not great to watch(will reserve judgement until I play as them), what makes people think Spider-Man combat and movement will feel and look anywhere remotely as good as what Insomniac accomplished?

Really a slimy move if they go through with this, And so why is Spiderman not an exclusive character for the PS4 version of Marval vs Capcom Infinite you can play as Spiderman on the Xbox version of that game lol.

Spider-man is an exclusive PlayStation character, just like Master Chief or whoever on Xbox....
So I don't think it's surprising. Sony also have the marketing rights.
No he isn’t. He's exclusive in one game on PS4. He’s playable in a bunch of general Marvel games on XB1 like Marvel vs Capcom and the LEGO games. That’s like saying Star Wars was Xbox 360 exclusive because they had that Kinect game.

I will be playing The Avengers on Xbox Series X regardless and to be perfectly honest, as much as I enjoyed the 2018 Spider Man game, I wouldn't want to play as him in The Avengers simply because the game isn't about that particular character so even if this happens, it doesn't affect or change anything for me.

Good point, I hadn't thought of those games... it seems like Sony just has the influence with Marvel. Much like MS has with EA, so it balances up in other ways IMO.

I don't think Avengers will be that big anyway.

I'm interested in the game, going to play the beta and if I like it I'll buy it but Spider-Man being exclusive (if true) doesn't bug me, yeah this kind of stuff shouldn't happen but MS is still doing timed exclusive deals, is Sony just supposed to sit back and not fight? Sony is kicking MS's ass in gaming but MS is a trillion dollar company, Sony isn't worth anywhere near that so they need to get every advantage they can until MS cuts this kind of thing out as well.

Usually i hate all those (timed) exclusive deals, but this one does not affect me. Spiderman is not in my top 10 list of the best superheros and i wouldn't play him anyways. Actually he is in my other top 10 list with Aquaman, Robin and so on.

Spoken like a true corporate shill! So let me get this straight, you're suddenly interested because Sony is getting an exclusive so it doesn't bother you, am I right? From an unbiased perspective from someone who doesn't care about Xbox or Sony, it is actually Sony pushing most of the exclusivity BS, other than Nintendo of course. Microsoft has actually be pretty open sharing all their exclusives with PC and other platforms, hasn't Cuphead just recently been announced on PS4?
