What should Sucker Punch do next?

Sucker Punch just released Ghost of Tsushima which seems to be doing really well. My question is where do you see them going from here?

Returning to Infamous?

A sequel to Ghost of Tsushima?

An expansion for Ghost of Tsushima?

Working collaboratively with Marvel, like Insomniac to bring another hero to gaming? Xmen, Doctor Doom, Wolverine / Logan, Black Panther etc.

Or something totally different?

I don't mind what they do, I just want to see a new engine from them that is more modern. Some old school game stuff in GoT, that doesn't affect the game in a major way, but does hurt my enjoyment slightly, similar to how MGS V had problems with environment traversal.

infamous 4 with cole or a protagonist that is not absolute shit like delsin.

a good cpu can do more for infamous saga than tsushima imo, just imagine super powers wars in a destructible city:messenger_smiling_hearts:

Been watching videos of ghost of tsushima. really impressed, and believe they should continue to do new ips. would welcome a new infamous, but only if they have creative and fun ideas to spice things up. otherwise don't want another thats like second son. would like to see something futuristic from them imo.

inFamous is very much over and done. The superhero bubble has burst and it's not their doing. Do something more interesting.

So far I'm 1/3 done with GoT and at this point I'd probably take a sequel, but I'd also be interested in seeing them apply the same formula to another setting, why not. They're all the same game in a new skin anyway.

with this chick? For some reason second son really didn't grab me at all, same goes for dlc. The only inFamous I enjoyed and beat was 2 :/

Yup, First Light. It expanded on the mechanics of the most fun power of Second Son, I really enjoyed it. It had the same problem expansions usually have in that it feels way too short so it never fully gets going and the story was horrendous, but the actual gameplay was a lot of fun.

Funny that 2 was the Infamous game I enjoyed the least. That setting never clicked with me.

While I would love to see them return to Infamous and bring us a clash between Cole and Delsin (you will never convince me that Cole is dead), I'd say I don't really care what they do. Ghost of Tsushima is damn good but I'm having a hard time imagining it as a franchise and not a one-off passion project.

A million times yes! This is the only acceptable substitute for a new Infamous on PS5...after a port of Ghost to PS5 of course.
They could even make an online coop game with 4 characters (Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm and Jean) but retaining the Insomniac Spiderman gameplay, storytelling style. Dunno how, though :messenger_grinning_sweat:

GoT is shaping up to a success for them, and being a rather fresh for its genre (samurai setting, kurosawa tribute, interesting mechanics), I don't mind a sequel. Unlike Days Gone. I hope Bend takes what they learned from that but make a game with a less stale premise.

However, games taking as long as they do, we're likely to only see one new game from them next gen, and in that light maybe I'd prefer something brand new.

I reckon they will do a standalone expansion for Ghost of Tsushima which will release in a year or year and a half exclusively on PS5. Basically a Spiderman Miles Morales situation. It's a quick way for Sony to pump out a game from them.

Reusing the world, assets and models, improving the resolution and lighting and telling a new story with some new character with a different gameplay will be enough to get people hyped.

Let's remember Sucker Punch has done this in the past
inFamous Festival of Blood
inFamous First Light

I think finding a scenario to fit the 'Ghost of' IP would be more difficult.... but I'd love them to do a sequel where they add fishing, gambling, sake drinking and other side activities to flesh out the world.

Maybe move away from real world historic events to allow some more lighthearted sidequests and characters.... if they go that route.

I am really loving my time with GOT ATM.

I always saw the infamous series as their take on mutants and such. the conduit gene is very similar to the mutant gene. it has potential still, but they need to embrace that crazy super hero side of it to fully make it special. I loved infamous 1 & 2 because you had crazy trash monsters, swamp mutant freaks, the beast, and much more. it kinda felt like sucker punches take on a xmen style story or fantastic four.

The only jarring thing for me about the game is that, being a Sucker Punch game, I always expected it to have some fantastical, comic book elements to it. Like strange enemies or phenomena. Being mostly rooted in reality took me by surprise. It grew on me as time went on and I fully appreciate what they did. Still, to me Sucker Punch is the Infamous studio and I'm hoping they go back to something similar. BUT, I will certainly not complain if they find a way to make Ghost a franchise and expand on an already good formula.

Anyone interested in a more Ronin type story, going town to town earning money for odd jobs and mercenary work.... and it evolves from there?

Or another war based game? (we had a comment about the second invasion above)

Any different time period in Japan that would be interesting to explore?

Infamous 4. I love that series, and SS (while a bit thin on content) still looks amazing. Better than GoT in some ways (more consistent level of detail etc). But mainly those games are just so much fun to play.

Perhaps a time of civil war with competing samurai clans? Taking land and challenging others. Plotting your clan's path to victory.

Spider-Man was extremely successful. I think there's still a place for GOOD super hero games

That sounds pretty cool.... if you could build your own castle and settlements as a minigame or something!

Yeah that would be awesome! And choosing between leading an army into battle or instead assassinating high value targets behind enemy lines. Weakening enemy forces if not demoralizing them entirely. Both sides with pros and cons. One might be simpler but more long winded whereas the other requires a much higher level of skill to pull off but can be over quickly if you do it well.

Super hero games are certainly not over. Marvel's spider-man is proof. you just need a good studio, with some great ideas and concepts that all mesh together well. both gameplay, story and fun factor is key to a successful super hero recipe.

That would be incredible... IMO. Hopefully Nate Fox or someone from SP is reading...I'd love them to try and get that into a game.

Spider-Man launched almost directly in-between Infinity War and Endgame, during the time at which superhero hype was at an unprecedented peak. I'm not saying the genre is dead, but you're about to see a significant drop-off in interest, it's inevitable.

I'd kinda want them to try their hands at a game set during the crusades. Just picture it, epic landscapes, sieges of cities/castles, fairly large battles... would be pretty cool. And you can even get into the whole Templar order thing, if you'd like.

Alternatively, a game set during the fall of Rome would be cool as well.

Wouldn't mind them sticking with GOT for a while.

You can never have too many Samurai games.

There was never too many Samurai games - never at the level that SP put into for Ghost of Tsushima.

That being said, I want them to work on a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima.

It's obvious that the game has so much to build upon with next gen hardware, and i'd love to see them work on it and show what the sequel can improve upon.

Knowing that they had a completely different game in development before cancelling and restarting and turning it around to GoT, it's obvious there were shortcomings because of that.

Imagine what the sequel would be like when they're 100% focused on just that.

Pretty sure you're describing Assassins Creed 2.

I want a Tsushima spin off, in a smaller island with coop missions and multiple playable characters, each one having a unique story, the game would be focused on replayability and challenges, made by a smaller team, while a big team works on a new IP. That would be my wish.

Infamous is great, but Spiderman will fill that gap for a while and it will give time for them to expand and try to innovate the series on the future.
