Which is better, Crash Bandicoot, or Ratchet and Clank?
Crash is more like an on-rails Sonic/Donkey Kong Country with a focus on platforming or tunnel sequences.

Whereas Ratchet is more open world with a focus on weapons.

If you have to ask you don't know Crash lore.

I just wish people would stop asking for it, they are not asking for the right thing, to me Crash will always be the loud mouth in a suit at the gates of NOA if he gets into Smash he should be a Mii Custome that is perfect fit for the lore.

Why did they have to change the art style, Crash looks like such a doofus (I know he is one... but still he looked better on the N-Sane Trilogy).

What lore have to do with a char getting pass into another game? There are business move, nothinhg lore about. Maybe a tradeoff for porting Crash 4 for Switch. Happens with Dragon Quest S main char whatever people like or dislike the DQ lore.

Do you still live in the universe where Sonic will never have games on a Nintendo system? Much less team up?

Is there not some type of false advertising law against this?
It’s fairly common practice to post best quality of gamplay. First the official channel posted it then both sony and ms both reposted it.

I mean can people sue publishers when they use trailers running on the xbox/ps4 versions and they end up buying the obviously inferior switch version?

I'm optimist about this game! Everything seems in the right direction. Linear levels, new mechanics which doesn't hurts the traditional formula -very important- and overall respect for the franchise.

The only thing I don't like art-wise is Crash pants. Seems something I would see in a gym.

Proper platforming challenge also! Crash 3 was a let down in this aspect at the time.

That’s not quite what I’m talking about. Even the Switch trailers of Crash N’Sane used footage from that version.

I’m referring more to advertising a version of the game for a console that can’t run it that way. Like Activision did with Crash N’Sane or EA did with Battlefield 3.

lol GTFO Sonic never did anything that was not redeemable to a Nintendo fan

We are talking about a Character who made a name for itself harrassing Nintendo, it was great marketting.
The bad guy Dr. Neo has a big N on his head. lol lore is lore man Crash can't be redeemed like Sonic to Nintendo fans. It breaks the magic dust.

sheesh, I was not trying to derail the thread dudes I was just pointing out the history of Crash Bandicoot, just because he has new owners and became a free agent does not mean he did not have a Glorious history at Playstation as a mascot.

If you want to talk business, why would they need Crash on the Switch that bad? Crash is already on Switch. Persona 5 is not on Switch so as a fan I'm not seeing these deals as worth a damn.

My point is Smash is about fans, lore, and gaming history, but it is very Nintendo biased.

You can't redeem Crash as a character enough to welcome him to Smash, I saw youtube videos asking about him a few days ago since they saw these leaks about this game

I'm sorry. If Crash was an antagonist and that was his thing to be a jerk okay he gets in under the bad guy's card.
I remember Crash as a jerk Sony fans remember him as a hero. Why should he be in Smash, just because your IP has a new owner it does not mean the story of the past changes. I don't like it that Crash left Sony. Hey I don't even like Sonic does not have a Saga platform to be on.

Crash can be in great games does not mean he has to be in Smash, just saying he fits a Mii Custome it would be perfect.

Don't pretend to love Crash and forget his roots, then he just become a business deal puppet and not Character worth remembering like Sonic or Mario.

He is a very important character in gaming history but his first interaction with Nintendo made his name. That should have meaning in the future too. If you stick him in Smash he needs to be a Mii Custome he was a guy in a suit. They just reminded us today in how he delivered the trailer.

Sonic fans are always fighting for Sonic to get back on the right path when Sega pulls something stupid with him, why can't Crash fans understand you can't take the jerk out of Crash?

And then the console generation after that, we saw his games on the Gamecube/Gameboy Advance.

Seems redundant to bring up the 90s feud when it literally died in the 2000s.

Were these games exclusive to these Nintendo platforms by any chance? My memory fades on me, I don't think I would have played a Crash game back then.

Sure if his interaction with Nintendo was more significant as in the Olympics I might give you that it cleared his early Sony fanboy rants. Also those Sonic and Mario games were exclusive. So I don't see any reason to wash part of Crash's history away from him just because people made deals or broke deals.

I just feel the feud and grudge match thing fits Smash Bros more, the IP started with a bunch of Nintendo Characters, (aka dudes in suits like Crash) beating the crap out of each other.

Crash back then was a dude in a Suit too. the grude Mario has with Crash is not the guy in the games, that guy as you pointed out was on GC/GBA whatever, that is not the guy but the guy at the NOA gates is ICONIC, that is the guy in the suit put him in as a Mii Custome it would be a perfect lore fit. That is the guy I want to fight.

Just because it was way back then does not mean it was not part of his history or origins even. He would not have had this many games without good marketing
that Crash ad is a classic in video game history. I'm older than most of you guys I guess that is what the issue is here you grew up with Nintendo Crash and made him your own I get it but that is not where we began the story. Smash is about fighting it out, remembering a feud is good.

I feel bad for the Crash Bandicoot IP, I don't really remember how these deals went down but the fact that he took such a fanboy era stance and lost his home.
Even if we try not to act like fanboys anymore, it does not mean some of that did not drive the industry. I think it still does if you go into PS5 and XSX threads I think fanboys are alive and well.

Crash was just an ICONIC memory of those Sony coming in hard days.

Where is the counter for collected wumpa fruits and smashed crates?
So no more clear and coloured gems to collect, or a totally new way to get them?
Will miss that extra challenge if left out.

I don't know. Looks more of the same from the Remasters. Some mindless fun I suppose with a dash of nostalgic, but man the gameplay/platform looks so late 90's still and very basic compared to Mario and modern platformers.

Might give it a shot since there is none of the timed exclusivity crap

So after a re-watch of the gameplay , the coloured gems are there.
You can see the purple gem platform in one scene.

Which is better, Crash Bandicoot, or Ratchet and Clank?
I would never compare the 2 directly. Meanwhile, both are platforms they are both designed completely differently in terms of how they play, feel and progress. Ratchet and Clank is much more open-ended and heavy action oriented. Crash Bandicoot is a much more of a linear on rails experience with a lot of difficult platforming segments. Very different platformers. You may enjoy both for different reasons or enjoy one more than the other.

One is not better or worse than the other, they are just different and it comes down to preference.

There's more good Ratchet and Clank games, so that. However, Crash 3 beats any of the Rachet and Clank games, except perhaps A Crack in Time, another game that happens to be themed around time travel.

What time is it?
I've owned every Playstation platform and I think my only exposure to Crash has been that sequence in one of Naughty Dog's games (Uncharted 4 I think).

fake edit: I take that back. I got the remaster of CTR.

Crash Bandicoot, no question. Ratchet & Clank is a third person shooter disguised as a platformer, Crash Bandicoot is DKC from behind.

It seems like you've taken an old ad campaign too seriously., to be honest. It's really not that deep.

Personally I like the designs, they're updated and the game looks like a lot of fun. And it looks like you can play as Cortex. I'm excited for this, definitely getting it day one.

It was explained that Cortex gameplay will have its own level design structure because of how he plays. It was mentioned that he can create solid platforms to cross between gaps or create bouncing ones to reach higher places.
